A terrific little machine. I originally bought this inexpensive battery operated vacuum cleaner for my caravan but now use it in my 2 bedroom apartment. Uses my Makita tools batteries, it is light, very easy to use, most effective, and terrific value. Highly recommended.
Makita 18v vacuum cleaner – I bought a Makita DCL181F 2 months ago for spot cleaning around the house & caravan. It has done less than 2 hours of work, but the dust collector housing has cracked around where the extension tube slips in. It is clearly a weak point, due I think, to a poor choice of type of plastic used, and the fact that the nozzle has, for the sake of aesthetics, and at the expense of reliability, been shaped at a 45° angle cut away at the bottom of the joint. A very poor design i.m.h.o. As for the rest of the product, it seems well made, and does a great job for its size, weight and price-point. But for this issue, I would have given it at least 4 stars. I would not recommend purchasing any of the models that use this translucent blue plastic dust collector, as it is unfit for purpose. Hopefully Makita will supply a re-designed replacement under warranty, but I won't hold my breath, as they are still selling the same design.
Follow-up · It was replaced under warranty, but the replacement did exactly the same thing, and also cracked at the other end, where it fits up to the motor body. I ended up fitting strengthening rings to both ends and it is still holding 2 years later.

Makita replaced the cracked cracked dust collector housing, but the same design & materials, so I fitted a metal collar around the nozzle to stop it from cracking like the first on did, and it has worked, however, now it is cracking at the other end where the dust collector body attaches to the motor body, only a few months since replacement, and very light use. These are 100% unfit for the intended purpose, and I would strongly suggest that you avoid buying one.
