Like all chainsaws you need to keep an eye on chain tention as it's fairly aggressive and does stretch the low profile chain during use. Not too tight though! brake!!I doubt you will have any of the problems I've read in bad reviews I read above all sounds like failure to understand operating procedure to me. Tooless chain adjust is a bit fiddley for bar and chain changes but not so bad when you get used to it! Enjoy! Happy niebours!

Poor quality from a brand name you think you can trust – About 12 months use, cutting up pine wooden pallets for firewood only, no logs or tree pruning. Although Makita make great battery and mitre saw tools their mains electric chainsaws are over priced and poor quality

3 Month Warranty Only, are you kidding ? – Bought this new (UC3520A) expecting to have a reliable tool for years, how wrong i was. Used it to cut a few shrubs down and then about 11 weeks later i attempted to cut a 50mm over hanging branch. (yes only 50mm !) The motor locked up and burnt out badly. warranty. I Personally phoned up Makita and told them its a faulty motor, they simply refused to replace, or offer any parts or assistance. Oh and by the way i have discovered other people has also suffered the motor burn out with this model. Makita offer some great products but this is not one of them. Shop around, and keep an eye out for the warranty period !

So Much for Makita Durability – I bought this from Bunnings and have used it no more than six times to cut branches off trees as part of the annual pruning. This year I was cutting a couple of very small branches and noticed oil was leaking out the bottom of the chain saw. Nothing, it's as though the motor has completely died.. I doubt it's worth trying to get it repaired as it's way out of warranty. Next time I'm buying Ozito and expect to replace it every couple of years, but at least it's cheap to buy.

Best in it's class (That I've found) – Dolmar chain, in fact I think it is a rebadged Dolmar chainsaw, it looks the same as Dolmars last model. Cuts great if not pushed to hard. I've cut hard wood trees 2 foot in diameter into splittable logs until I got a larger saw. I love this good electric saw because it is well made and oils the bar very well with the old engine oil I've used in it.

First report. So far so excellent! – Have access to a friends McCullough gas chainsaw but thought I'd buy my own. Settled on an electric one after good feedback from a neighbour. Makita is a bit more expensive than ryobi but definitely worth it. It's got sufficient grunt for me not to miss the McCullough and works well and as described. Quality of the product is excellent. Only be aware there will be a small drip of oil after usage and the oil cap is not seal tight.

Suggest you follow the instructions carefully when assembling the chain and bar the first time, if you're not very experienced like me, as you need to align the adjustment pin before closing the cover.

So far a so good – Bought my UC3520A a few days ago and after three days of cutting large brunches in our garden I am happy to give this unit a 5 star ranking. Disappointing – Loved it at first, but now, after only a few uses, a little plastic lid on the chain tensioner has snapped after the chain touched it, and the chain won't lubricate, and the bar oil leaks everywhere. I wish I'd ponied up the dosh and just bought a Stihl or Husky petrol machine like all the tradies who visit my place. Oh well, that's next. Makita brand, nice engine Flimsy parts, leaky

Super product – After doing some research on electric chainsaws, I decided on the Makita 4020. I needed to do some light pruning around the backyard, and slice up some logs for the fire. This handled everything without a hitch. Very light, but cuts everything I throw at it with ease, I was quite amazed at the power. Would be one of my best buys. Light, No vibration, cuts through wet timber easily None to report

OK – A very OK chainsaw. Had a couple of issues. The quick change nut holder keeps falling off which is annoying, and the chain sometimes comes off. When it comes off it creates a flange of metal along the chain that needs filing down to slide back along the guide rail. quiet and easy to use, when the chain stays on.
