Extremely disappointing customer service from Batik Air. I spent 154 minutes on the phone trying to sort out a baggage issue and still could not get a clear answer. On 31 March 2026, their AI support gave conflicting advice, first saying the booking did not specify baggage, then saying the Perth to Denpasar flight had 20kg, then saying the same… Read more

rules applied to the return flight. Later that same day, Batik Air customer service emailed saying the outbound had 20kg but the return had no checked baggage allowance at all.

Because Batik Air failed to properly process the baggage, I then had to pay AUD 1,251.00 on 2 April 2026 for what should have been the original requirement of 20kg each way, and then another AUD 1,080.00 at the airport on 6 April 2026 to get the baggage on board because the fees customer service said were processed had not actually been processed.

Now I am being told I may have to wait up to 30 days for a refund, and even that refund amount appears to be incorrect. Very poor systems, very poor communication, and a completely unacceptable customer experience.

Paid $720 for seats we never received – Refund refused Our family of five paid $720 in advance for extra legroom seats, yet the airline failed to provide them. To make matters worse, they are now refusing to refund the money for the service they never delivered. This is completely unprofessional and feels like a theft of $720. Batik Air has… Read more

OMG! Where do I start? These guys are grade A scammers and fraudsters. I wish there were a minus rating. Before our flight from Melbourne to Bali, I called them to purchase extra baggage. The operator asked for my last name, pulled up my record and… Read more

advised that there is no need to buy extra baggage as I already have 20kgs on the ticket. I asked multiple times if he was sure; all I got was an affirmative yes. I was stoked.

Journey to Bali, no problems. When returning, I was advised that I only had 7 kg. I was 13kgs overweight. Paid $300+ for extra baggage. Came back, called the customer care, which Batik has given to some random company called airline rep services. Came back and emailed for my refund, I got a call from them threatening me for asking for a refund. 40 emails later, nothing happened.

They broke a suitcase also, and the behaviour of their ground staff- DISGUSTING.

Pay a bit extra, don't fly with them.

Follow-up  · 1. The 7kg was advised by their customer service rep over the phone. 2. They broke it and refused to replace. 3. Staff is horrible this includes their reps on the phone and higher management.

Batik Air is easily the worst international airline I’ve ever flown and I can’t believe they are charging premium prices for this level of neglect and disrespect toward passengers. to be served, toilets were filthy, crew was rude and dismissive and as a vegetarian I was only offered a chicken pizza with a complete refusal to even give me a snack. On what planet is that acceptable on an international flight?

The return flight had no inflight entertainment, no included food or water, everything is paid only, even the water! Is that even legal?. They only accept visa credit cards not visa debit, this is not advertised anywhere. It felt like a low-budget domestic flight but priced like a full-service carrier.

I emailed customer care multiple times and got nothing back. Just silence. No accountability. The experience felt like an extremely low budget domestic flight but priced like a full service carrier. People need to stop supporting airlines like this. If we accept these bottom of the barrel standards, other airlines will eventually lower theirs too. Flying is uncomfortable enough already Batik Air managed to make the entire experience dramatically worse in every possible way. Avoid at all costs.

Airline although budgeted airline but they find a way to ditch customers in many other ways.

Typical budget airline with no focus on improvement. Poorest customer experience ever received.

I saw all these reviews after we booked our flights on BatikAir, for our family holiday from Sydney to Bali, and was scared that I made the wrong choice!! Let me tell you we had a great flight to Bali on BatikAir on their Airbus A330, on 20th Oct 2025 from Sydney to Denpasar (direct flight), as a young family of 5. This included flight… Read more

entertainment, when everyone said there isn’t any, food was top notch - recommend their rice dishes, aircon was working fine and a smooth take off and landing. Also to note, there was no wifi to use at your free-will, except for their own entertainment system if you wanted to stream on your device instead.

It was definitely one of the cheapest options to go with, good experience and would fly again with BatikAir, on their Airbus a330.

arriving at the airport. They assured me that I would be rebooked on the same flight the next day, but the new itinerary included a 9‑hour layover and an additional stop, which was never part of my original plan. There is no customer care phone line or chat support, and their email responses are extremely slow and unhelpful. I would only recommend this airline to someone who has unlimited time to spare or is simply looking for the cheapest option with the poorest service in the region. Everyone who travelled with me has also decided that they will never book with this airline again. Wishing the company the best—though with service like this, a downfall seems inevitable.

This was my first time travelling with Batik Air (August 2025) and the trip exceeded my expectations. I booked a saver fare, via their website, which allows 20kg of check-in luggage and one no charge date change. Turned out I wanted to change… Read more

the date, and it was a very easy process by phone, and only paid for the fare difference which was 20 dollars.

Both my flights departed relatively on time and the check in was fast and efficient.

On board I was pleasantly surprised with the legroom and general spaciousness. There is no in flight entertainment but I usually use my smartphone anyway so it wasn't a problem.

The pre booked meal came quickly and was very delicious (chicken biryani) along with water. More food and snacks were also available to purchase and they accept aud.

Reading the other reviews I have to clarify the water and food restrictions. Taking water on board after passing security is permitted by the airline on all flights, however when travelling to Australia, the Australian government forbids passengers from taking more than 100 millilitres, and requires the airline to search bags before boarding. This applies to all airlines. All food is allowed however must be consumed before landing in Australia.

Considering the fare was less than half the price of a full service airline, I can highly recommend Batik Air as a great budget option and certainly better than the competition.

Follow-up  · The date change was made on the phone and I paid the fare difference via email. Best to order meals before the flight or small bills (aud/irp) and credit card, no debit card available. Batik has 3inches more pitch than Jetstar and you tell the difference.

BATIK AIR's attitude to passengers is very, very disappointing. I should have read the reviews. In their effort to conserve fuel, they cancelled my segment of the flight from Perth to KL. I can understand that in an effort to save money. What I can't understand is why they booked me on a flight leaving 5 hours later, knowing that I would miss my… Read more

connecting segment from KL to Colombo by an hour. At that point, it would have been a domino effect for my other connecting flights. They had an earlier flight they could have booked me on and I would have made my connection segment with no problem. It says volumes about a company that puts profit above passengers. In the end, I realized it was easier to take my financial lose, book with another airline, and warn people about this airline. :-(

DO NOT USE BATIK AIR. I’m posting this so other people don’t go through the same ridiculous situation I just went through. I tried to change my flight from next week to TODAY because of an urgent situation. There was clearly availability showing on the website, but the website kept giving an error with no explanation. On mobile, the site just… Read more

kept redirecting me in a loop so I couldn’t change anything.

Then I tried to contact customer service — but there is NO WAY to talk to a human. I contacted the Kuching office and asked them to help me contact Batik Air, and Batik Air told them to tell me to contact them via email, feedback form, or WhatsApp chatbot. The WhatsApp chatbot then told me to go back to the website to manage booking… THE SAME WEBSITE THAT DOES NOT WORK.

So I called the Perth Airport office. First, they kept insisting I booked through a travel agent (I DID NOT and I repeated this multiple times). Then they finally checked and told me there was no availability — even though on my screen there clearly WAS availability. Then they told me I cannot change the flight on the website… SO WHY IS THERE A “CHANGE FLIGHT” BUTTON ON THE WEBSITE?

So let’s summarize Batik Air’s system: • Website doesn’t work • WhatsApp chatbot tells you to use the website • Office tells you to contact KL customer service • There is no way to call KL customer service • Airport staff refuse to help

They just send you in circles until you give up.

One of the Perth staff even told me I was being “unreasonable” and then pretended the phone call dropped. Absolutely unprofessional.

Never again. If you value your time, money, and sanity — avoid.

I am deeply disappointed with the service provided by Batik and Trip.com. I booked a return flight through Trip.com that was suitable for my family at the time of booking. eroded my trust in the overall service.

I am concerned about the possibility of flight time changes while overseas. While I understand that flight delays can be caused by technical issues or weather conditions, I cannot predict such events two months in advance. Consequently, I have decided to discontinue using Batik’s services and request a refund for the return flight and the non-refundable flight.

Trip.com has agreed to refund the return flight. However, I have informed them that I no longer wish to use Batik’s services due to the poor service I received. This situation has been extremely stressful and frustrating. I believe Trip.com should not retain half of my money, which I have earned through my work.

I am unable to determine who is responsible for this situation. Is it Batik or Trip.com?

The ethical implications of this matter are concerning. The paying customers are being exploited for free money. It is unacceptable that someone is profiting from this situation while others are left to bear the financial burden. Batik has already provided substandard service to its customers, which has caused significant anxiety.

I am seeking clarification on who is responsible for this frustration and who can provide assistance.

I rarely write reviews, but I feel compelled to share my experience with Batik Air Malaysia so other passengers can make an informed decision. given a very small amount after explaining it was for medication.

I later discreetly asked a female cabin crew member if sanitary products were available and was told no, without any attempt to check further or assist.

When I tried to purchase a drink, I was informed that only cash or credit cards were accepted — no debit cards and no Apple Pay. As I did not have a credit card, I was refused service entirely. This left me on a long flight, already delayed, in pain and dehydrated, with no access to basic refreshments.

I understand budget airline policies, but there needs to be basic consideration for passenger welfare, especially in medical or biological situations that are not optional or avoidable.

This was one of the most uncomfortable and disheartening flight experiences I’ve had, and I would not choose to fly with Batik Air again.

My experience with Batik Air has been one of the worst I’ve ever had with any airline. During this entire time, Batik Air… Read more

provided no support whatsoever, no guidance, no alternative arrangements, and no compensation.

What made an already stressful situation even worse was their complete lack of communication. I sent upwards of six separate emails before finally receiving a reply. And when they did respond, their message was dismissive, quoting “policy” and refusing to cover any of the additional costs caused by their own cancellation.

To make matters even more frustrating, their email stated that they had provided us with food vouchers during the disruption. This is absolutely untrue. We did not receive a single voucher or any form of assistance while waiting for 12 hours in the airport.

This experience shows a shocking lack of customer care, accountability, and honesty. Most airlines offer at least some level of support when they disrupt passengers’ travel. Batik Air offered nothing but delays, silence, and incorrect information.

I will never fly with Batik Air again, and I strongly advise other travellers to avoid them. If something goes wrong, you will be left completely on your own.
