Agreed. We’ve had the same issue with our fan. It seems as though it doesn’t extract any steam from our small bathroom. We’ve had the fascia replaced twice bc the light doesn’t work, at our own expense. Martec didn’t supply labor. Wouldn’t recommend this brand or product. Show details
Review Martec Pheonix mini 3-in-1. Don’t waste your money – I purchased this unit for our bathroom because it was advertised to have excellent exhaust extraction. The calculator estimate from their website says this unit should have two to three times greater extraction rate (m3/hr) than needed for the room. As you can see in the video I made: https://youtu.be/7p6yQJgE33c?si=_QjuqpZhHsX9wDHH , this is not… Read more
the case. The unit barely extracts any steam from the bathroom at all. We put in a warranty claim and their electrician contractor found the unit was working to Martec’s specifications - but it still isn’t extracting steam from the room as advertised. Martec’s response to us was condescending to say the least! First they wanted to explain it away by suggesting the airflow into the room was insufficient (as per their suggestions we have tried opening doors, windows, having them partly ajar or fully open it’s all the same). After that didn’t work they have now changed their story and suggested that the issue is due to the room having water vapour in it and that the unit isn’t designed to remove water vapour from the room because water vapour is too heavy. They have said this is an environmental issue and have left it at that without any attempt to mediate further. I really don’t know what environment this exhaust fan is meant to work in since we live in South Australia - one of the driest most temperate places to live in the world…. It seems like they have forgotten year 5 science class!! An obvious cause of condensation is a build up of steam in a room, the very thing we have tried to install an exhaust fan to avoid!! In fact Martec’s own website discusses at length the risk of not preventing condensation build up (including this: “Finally, the longer you leave your walls and fixtures exposed to condensation, the more damage that can occur. Your walls and door can become warped, even down to the structural wood of the room. And your fixtures can become tarnished and damaged, requiring replacement long before the end of their expected lifetime. As such, it is extremely important to use your bathroom fan properly.”) It is too ironic for me to find funny right now. I really didn’t expect this from an Australian based company that is meant to be selling a high quality product. My advice, don’t buy this product unless you want a months long headache and mould forming in your bathroom.
