Matson Waterproof 12V Battery Charger AE1000E

Matson AE1000e, an Australian made motorcycle/car battery charger/tender – Everyone knows (or should know), attempting to revive dead car/motorcycle batteries can be a challenging process. Depending on the battery as I understand it, will depend on whether or not the battery is salvageable if discharges below a certain threshold. This device helps to avoid this scenario in the first place. There is also the possibility of reviving batteries that are not to far gone.

The Matson charger is a perfect addition to your garage should you have the need for a battery charger/tender. I bought this one for my motorcycle which at times might sit unused for an extended time, for example away on holidays etc. This device is a 10amp, 12V DC, so plenty of 'juice' as the need arises.

Pro's - in no particular order * Awesome LCD screen, with plenty of information as to what it is doing - see included picture * 10amp charger. 2amp mode available. * User selectable for car or motorcycle batteries * User selectable for the chemical makeup for the battery, eg AGM, Lithium and Gel to name a few * Plug and play once you have the correct type of battery set. Multi stage charging with progress display - the device will enter maintenance mode to keep your batteries at optimum health when all the steps have been complete. * IP65 water proof * Protections built in for reverse polarity, over temperature and short circuit

Con's * Is on the pricey side for the 10amp version, but within the same price range for other good quality 10amp chargers/tenders. * The flashing LCD screen, causes me to spend to much time staring at it when I am in the garage. The font on some of the information displayed is a bit small for my (older) eyes.

Final verdict

I think on balance that and after having owned for some time now, that it's a great little device and certainly worth the price of admission. The pro's definitely outweigh the con's and I haven't had one issue with it since it being installed in my garage, and at the end of the day, I also get to support an Aussie product. Win win.
