Michigan 130A MIG Stick Welder's Pack

Beginners welding kit – These little welders are tiny and suitable for a beginner, although they will produce a good weld. The Michigan one can be used with either a gas bottle (not supplied) or fine wire with flux down the middle. I bought the novices kit which includes a welding helmet, gloves, and a spool of wire. Two important things to mention 1. When you go to load up the wire spool don’t unclip the end because it will all shoot off the spool and it’s very hard to wind it back on. 2. When you go to use the welding helmet make sure you turn it on, I didn’t and suffered for a while.

The instructions that come with this are useless so just go on YouTube and there is a good video by DrewFixIt. Once you have installed the spool keep it under tension and feed it through the mechanism. Then turn the unit on and hold down the trigger and the wire will feed through and come out the end. Fasten your earth to whatever you are welding and away you go. It won’t weld onto paint or rust, you have to get to bare metal. My first welds on a shovel and garden chair were horrible but they worked. Definitely worth having. I got mine delivered from Total Tools but I think Trade Tools have something similar.
