box grater woes – agree with other comments ... plastic falls apart to easily for a busy kitchen. Works well if you use it seldom but to keep in frequent use needs to be more resilient. sharp though - undoubtedly.  Show details

Sensational blades but dreadful plastic frame that cracks and falls apart within months! – I am on my third 4 sided delux mircroplane grater and this will be my last unless they fix the plastic issue.. first grater I initially washed in the dishwasher and thought the cracking was due to this even though it says it is dishwasher safe. After severe cracking in the plastic supporting the blades I only hand washed my second and now third, but the same problem. After paying nearly $100 what the hell is going on???

These are probably the most expensive on the market and when they are new, better than any others I have purchased but they just don't last!!! I use this grater.. particularly the zesting side several times a week and this blade side which is the removable one won't even stay in place anymore. It's falling apart. I see another reviewer had the same issue. I cannot see how Global can justify the price yet use an inferior plastic for the frame. I'm done buying unless they change the plastic. I have sent a complaint to global directly so lets see if they respond. In the meantime do not buy these unless you are happy to keep throwing your money away.

Not what I expected – This grater has the Microplane name but its inferior rubbish. Its correct the plastic cracks & its isn't worth the money. I love Microplane grater quality in their zesters but this box grater lets them down. I have noticed that they have changed the box grater design to a stronger frame now, pity I cannot trade my older inferior one in & get the newer model.

Great design and function ruined by poor quality plastics – Worked really well - for a few months. Great to have a grater that is sharp, easy to clean, good ergonomic design. plastic for these parts but the type of plastic used is very brittle and (unlike the stainless steel blades) does not flex but cracks after repeated use. I bought this grater as I was sick of "cheap rubbish" - very disappointed to get expensive rubbish instead. Will be returning for a "not fit for purpose" refund. Maybe there was a QA issue (bad/wrong plastics used) but I'm not chancing it again Grates really well, easy to clean, good ergonomics, excellent blades. It broke after a few months of ordinary domestic use.

Good – Microplane make great products and this box grater is really nice to have in the kitchen. I took the tip of a knife and made the holes of the fine zester slightly larger, took me awhile but it works better now. patch on your hand. Nice to have the sharpness though once your used to it. Super sharp and grates really easily. Four options for cutting/grating. Nice handle at the top so its easy to hold onto and rubber feet keep it from slipping on the cutting board. Cover is a handy thing to have. The fine zester is a bit too fine, it may turn your parmesan into powder.
