Love this, easy to use and clean. Sharp blades hardly takes up any space. My food processor died the only thing I used it for was slicing and grating. So bought this instead of a new bulky machine. Great for my needs would definitely purchase again. Thinking of buying for gifts for Christmas Show details ·  1

Will not stay stuck on any surface, so therefore unusable. Bought a second one to try from Facebook Market Place and both the same. Shame as does work reasonably well for grating for the short time is does stay stuck on. Show details

First of all, I didn't order this brand of grater slicer. The Sumo Slicer was substituted by the seller for the one I really wanted. It's smaller than the desired one, 10" tall instead of 11.02". The drums are not cone shaped, they are straight drums, and you can't get your hand in to clean them out. There's no storage holder for the slicers… Read more

because, instead of having twin slicers that slide into one main drum, there are three individual drums. But the worst is, I can't even get it to the point of trying it out because the cheap bendy handle won't lock onto the drums to hold them in place. First photo was what I wanted - second is what I received. Don't waste your money on this garbage.

The best kitchen gadget ever – I have had my Sumo Slicer for over a year now and it is the most commonly used gadget in my kitchen. Easy to use, easy to clean it's made prepping meals for the house so easy! I use it most for grating cheese, grating carrots and grating potato for hash browns. At first I wasn't twisting the cog in the middle all the way to lock in the suction… Read more ·  1

base, but after figuring that out it works like a dream (must be a smooth surface, not wood or small tile) I have so many KLeva products but this one is the best!

Good but it won't be my 'go to' chopper for most things – I saw the Sumo slicer advertised online and was thinking of buying one, when I saw an almost new one in an Op shop for $7. There were no instructions included but I quickly worked out how to put it together and use it. It is extremely simple. I later saw a link to videos but on the whole, it is intuitive although you'll need to watch how you… Read more ·  1

insert the little cap to push down the vegies as there is a right and wrong way and you could miss the wording inside if you aren't careful. And turn the dial on the base right around in order to get the proper suction of the unit onto the benchtop.

How is it as a slicer? Sorry folks, but I have come to the conclusion there is no such thing as the perfect slicer/dicer/shredder. I have bought a lot of slicers and dicers in my time, in search of the perfect all round product. I'll include a photo of some I own but I also have others, including a couple mandolin slicers and an electric food processor. The Sumo slicer is good for some food items and not so good for others. I found it did cabbage reasonably well for chow mein but the grated carrot was a little finer than I wanted, even on the coarse setting. With onions, it either minced them completely to a mush (which is okay for some recipes) or else the pieces were too big for what I was after. This is important for me as onions are one of the top things I like to use a hand held chopper for.

Cleaning: Reasonably easy although if you mince onions, the drums take a thorough rinsing to get rid of all the bits and pieces. As I turned the handle, I found I sometimes had my hand bump into other parts of the slicer. I guess you get better at it with practice but a bit annoying to start with. When slicing or grating, food tends to sit in the drum at times and I had to put my fingers in to get it started on its way. As with all these sorts of slicers, the chute for the food is fairly small so you can only do a bit at a time.

Overall impression: It is a good slicer, parts look well made, easy to use. Is it awesome? I don't think so but maybe it depends on what you want to slice/grate. If you like to quickly dice onions, capsicum, tomato, that sort of thing, best bet is the chopper like my red Tupperware one in the photo. Much quicker, you control the size of the cut and much easier to clean. If you want to slice cabbage for coleslaw, my best one would be just that green one on the photo. Done in seconds. or the mandolin slicer. A block of cheese-electric food processor. You'll see a thermomix in there too-quickest thing ever, sometimes too quick and a pain to clean at times.

The Kleva sumo slicer is good for a range of foods but not all. It is easy to clean but not as easy as some others and that is a huge factor for me personally. I sum up how quick a particular slicer will work and how hard it is to clean it afterwards before I drag it out. Will I keep it? Yes. It is good but it is not the holy grail.

Getting the job done well in a short time – This lightweight easy to use appliance is a great asset in your kitchen. I prefer to make my own coleslaw and this appliance does a great job, without much effort. I bought our son a one to put in his caravan. Light and easy to store. Show details ·  1

Good for the price – Well I did get it as a free gift so I can't complain. It is very sharp so handle the graters with care. Easily cuts everything I have put into it. Only complaint is it slices vegetables very thinly.

Better offer – I purchased the XL super slicer and was offered the standard size sumo slicer at a discounted price. I feel I should have been offered the XL Sumo slicer instead as it would have been a more suitable product Now I need to pay return postage to now upgrade to XL sumo slicer

Great kitchen helper – This is the 2nd kleva sumo slicer I have owned. My very old one needed to be retired. I use it to grate cheese to freeze as grated cheese is expensive to buy. I use it for sneaky veg for when the grand kids visit! It is also great for potato bakes. Love it! Saves a lot of effort and gets the job done quickly. Show details ·  1

Kiev’s Sumo Slicer – Had a similar one of these years ago, when cyclone Tracy went through Darwin it was used to make bucket loads of coleslaw to feed those travelling from Darwin to Alice Springs. So glad that I have been able to replace a very old one with the Kleva Sumo that works just as hard. Fantastic piece of kitchen equipment. Thank Kleva Show reply

Compact – Compact design, goes together easily, easy to clean. Blades are sharp. Works quickly. The handle does get in the way when you're using the holder piece in the shoot & the suction base doesn't always work.

Efficient and useful – While good at slicing and grating on hard or firm food, I found soft roast vegetables did not go through the attachment - instead sticking to the outside. I do find it a little awkward for storage. Show reply
