Good value, no-frills headset – I work remotely and got tired of blasting my work calls throughout the house every time I did one. I have a proper microphone setup because I also do Twitch streaming, and it got me by for a while until I needed to buy a headset. I consider myself an audiophile, but I didn't want to spend much money on something I'll use a few times a week. After some research, I settled on the Microsoft Modern Wireless Headset. Admittedly, it's not much to look at. It won't win design awards, but it's understated and blends into my desk. It's there when I need it and hides away when I don't.

First and foremost, this is a headset for audio calls. Don't get these with the intention of listening to music through them. While you could listen to music with them, the quality is clearly optimised for talking (your Zoom and Teams calls). The audio quality itself was surprisingly good. Once again, you're not going to get 32k audio here or use this to record vocals for your metal band, but for audio calls. It's a step above your inbuilt computer microphone and speakers.

I've been using this headset for a few months now, and it's comfortable for long calls. I've worn this during 4+ hour calls (I know, four hours), and my ears didn't feel sore or burning afterwards. The padding is surprisingly comfortable. If you want a headset for making audio calls, I highly recommend it. I don't use any of its buttons to know its features other than it works.

If you're a Mac user, this headset will pair over Bluetooth without needing the included dongle.

Purchased for $119.

works well but buttons useless – First things first, I did not pay full price because "Enterprise Partner Purchase". Secondly, I like the way modern MS products are packages (bought mice and adapters, too) - nice box I want to keep in case we move. The headset was easy to pair, and it successfully replaced my worn-out Plantronics Focus. However, PT Focus was completely reversible - I could flip the boom mic around 180 degrees and wear it on the right so I could use my left hand for music controls. No such tricks possible with Microsoft's product, neither it has AVC controls for music. Music quality also sub-par compared to Focus - thin and "indicative". This is the first "gotcha". The product is great for office / meeting calls, coming in nice and clear and noise cancelling seems to work but to a lesser degree of course. Another gotcha (and a big one) - this is Microsoft Product, supposedly for Microsoft Teams - it even has a "Teams" button - but functionality is very ... lackluster - I CANNOT LEAVE A MEETING by pressing that "Teams" button. Neither can I leave a meeting by pressing the little PHONE button. Neither can I leave a meeting by pressing the MUTE button... you get the idea. You basically have to walk back to your computer, find that window among others, and click the "Leave" button there. Which make those three buttons on the right side absolutely useless to me. I can mute myself by swinging the boom mic upwards, no need to remember which of the three (useless) buttons is "MUTE". This, combined with lack of remote music controls - typical Microsoft. (Hardware team could not /did not work with Software Team)
