The least powerful of all Meile Vacuums previously purchased – I have always purchased Miele upright vacuums and so I was expecting a certain level of quality when I purchased another one, but this time direct from the Meile website. I was surprised at how weak the suction is on the machine. I have been using this machine for 8 months. I really dont use it for carpets anymore as it just does not do a good… Read more
enough job. I am still using the old one for carpets and that one is over 8 years old. I don't know what it is but for some reason buying a new model Meile is just not as good as the older version of this machine.
Difficult to clear blockages – It's difficult to clear when blocked. Basic maintenance and removing the base plate at the front can be a mission and requires two different keys. Overall it's okay but could be designed better for the user to maintain Show details
Worst I've used – The Meile upright Power Plus is heavy, clunky, not particularly manoeuvrable but most importantly has terrible suction. It sucks poorly in the main open areas and at wall edges, even with quite loose debris. The swivel handle swivels when that function is not wanted. It was used on both short fibre carpet and tiles. Love this vacuum and love the brand! – I am very happy with this new vacuum performance. Its suction is great and leaves my carpets as new, sucks all the dust, sand, pet hair and every that you can imagine, tiny specs are lifted from the carpet with easy with its powerful motor. It is light and easy to manoeuvre and just glides on all types of floors! Show details
If I could give 10 stars I would – I have just purchased my 2nd U1, I killed the first one over a 10 yr period. U love love love this vacuum, it is a little heavy but to me that's a good sign. No cheap plastic, suction is amazing. After I kill this one I will be buying another. I just bought a Dyson upright animal, no comparison, was very disappointed Show details
BRILLIANT PERFORMANCE – Miele Dynamic U1 is absolutely fantastic. It has transformed my carpets to feel softer and raised the pile beautifully. Incredibly manourverable and goes completely flat to get under beds etc. the tool kit is perfect and easy to change tasks between vacuuming and using the extendable wand with an enormas hose length so you can get behind furniture… Read more
or reach the ceiling without pulling the base arround. You can drag the base around if you need to without it falling over. Hard surfaces to carpet short or long pile, no problems as this vacuum automaticly adjusts simply turn the powered brush on or off and select the suction strength to suit the task. Incredible suction that just keeps going. Auto stop if someting gets stuck in the brushes. It is just so good it is amazing and I love it. Bigger bag and quieter than barrel vacuums too. The only down side, its not light in comparison to a barrel, the trick is to not fight it, relax and go slower then its fine. I highly recommend this Miele upright, looks well biult and feels solid so it should last a long time.
Provisional big tick so far – After reading many negative reviews on the cheaper (upright) vacuums I reluctantly looked at buying an expensive Sebo or Miele upright. Harvey Norman had a Sebo which looked good on the outside but when I opened it and looked inside and underneath I was immediately put off by the cheap looking plastic components and the complex filter sytem… Read more · 1
(replacement cost?)...maybe I'm prejudging here so I recommend you look for yourself. So I settled for the Miele U1 in the end. Yes the vacuum is relatively heavy but presumably this is a reflection of high quality components (?). I don't doubt that some of the pieces are now made in China but it would appear to Miele's quality specs. The design has a number of clever features and apart from lifting the machine upstairs if you have a physical problem and a 2 story house, the weight of pushing it over the floor is not an issue (especiallt given that nearly 1/2 the pop. need more exercise not less!) The only issue (so far) with all these cleaners is the cost of the replacement bags. In the past I've cut the bottom off the bags... emptied them and stapled them up again for a number of uses. However, the Miele bags are somewhat furrier and more difficult to empty completely and staple up. I'll report back if there are any quality issues in the future as it is early days yet. It's 7 years later and the cleaner is still going strong. Yes it is heavy, especially now we have a very deep pile carpet and a 2 storied house but the quality is still worth it. Re the cost of bags... they are expensive but large and I notice that even when quite full the suction is still good! Not sure how this works but it is a pleasant surprise. .
