Not as it was expected, we have replaced the old Miele after 20 years but we are not that impressed with the new one, doesn't dry properly. Show details
Edit: I have now purchased Beko 1650. It cleans very well. The rack layout is not near as nice, but it actually works. Product support has been amazing as my initial broken Beko dishwasher was warrantied and replaced the very next day. I have now had a broken Miele dishwasher for 1 month, and their support technician just missed the scheduled… Read more
repair date. I now see I have two missed calls right at the end of the window, but my phone definitely did not ring. They were supposed to call half an hour before arriving, which they most certainly did not. I was sitting in my living room. Supposedly, he knocked on the door, but I have never had any trouble hearing any other tradesmen if they knock or give a shout. Guessing he knocked softly and just chilled in his car for 20 minutes.
Miele feels highly bureaucratic, call service is clearly oversees. I was transferred 4 times talking with them just to inform them their technician was a no show.
Bureaucracy and marketing are where they high purchase costs are going; not actually quality products or service. I am tired of the dramatic, "Oh, I am soooo sorry", dramatic line every single rep is drilled to use. I guess we will see if they make an actual effort next week. And I highly doubt my dishwasher will actually be fixed next week.

We have used this new dishwasher for 4 months.
A month ago, it threw an error code; water in the bottom of the dishwasher. Asked the internet. Tip it forward to get the water out, it may work again. It did.
A month later it has thrown an F78 error. I checked the filter, watched internet videos, checked the water hose and plumbing. Nothing works.
Soonest appointment is 3 weeks away; not ideal. I am under warranty, so there is no cost. But... the terms and conditions quoted $399 callout fee, and $160 per hour as their standard repair rates, which I would consider extortionate.
I have installed 20 or so dishwashers, and this has got to be the most fragile, temperamental dishwasher I have ever used. I have now purchased a Beko 1650, which comes free with a 5 year warranty, as a replacement until our Miele is repaired. I soured on Bosch after two units failed just outside their 2 year warranty. Our previous Bosch was still working at 20 years of age (Made in Turkey even).
I <3 my Miele dishwasher. The rack organisation lets me easily fit in large bowls or pots, and is so well engineered. And out of a test and curiosity, I started throwing in my bowls with flakes of days or week old oatmeal stuck on, expecting it of course not to clean. Amazingly, they came back clean, using the pot and pan cycle. You can hear the jets hitting pots and pans, as if they use a good amount of pressure. The filter also seems to get less gunked up with stuff, and needs less cleaning. I love this as who wants their wash and rinse water filtered through disgusting, month old food ooze. Yuck.
I guess that's the thing. I have read many people now saying Miele's reliability is not what it used to be. At 45, I have never had a dishwasher throw 2 major faults in 6 months. So, maybe I'm the outlier, but this is less likely.
I was going to give 3 stars, but I'll make it 4 due to product quality (not reliability) and the chance I got one with a lemon pump. But this is not an impressive start, I've already had to buy a 2nd dishwasher, and I no longer trust Miele's reliability or for this product to last the 10 years it should, much less even 5. If this product fails in less than 5 years, I'll be updating this to 2 stars. The engineering is beautiful. I hope it will actually be reliable after the repair.
I would trust other people's advice that only the Miele dishwashers are worth it, not their other products. Not that their other products are bad, but the dishwashers are exceptional and actually worth the cost premium. We just replaced a Bosch washing machine of 12 years with Westinghouse washer and a top of the line heat pump Electrolux drier. The Bosch was still working.
I would agree with comments of read that Miele and Bosch have pulled a Mercedes, and put their budgets into marketing and cut back on R & D. I'm done with German stuff, after being a Bosch customer for life. They can't compete with the Chinese on cost, so the Germans have lowered their price points, but probably cut corners on engineering and reliability to achieve it. Mercedes sit 2nd from the bottom on Consumer Reports reliability index, only above Jeep.
Westinghouse looks to have 3 dishwashers for sale that are 10 years dated and look cheap. Bosch ones are the same unless you spend $1600. And 2 year warranties. Come on!! I may regret buying a Beko, but it comes with a 5 year standard warranty, Choice has recommended Beko, and their cleaning score was at the top with half a dozen other major brands including Miele; their 1640, and presumably 1650 mind you. Beko has poor reviews, and are Turkish. But being burned on Bosch and no longer trusting our new Miele's reliability, I may as well get something with nice features and a 5 year warranty for a 2nd dishwasher, that apparently cleans well.
Australia is getting treated as a dumping ground for old dishwasher models. Haier dishwashers are junk, tried it. Bosch and Westinghouse are selling years dated models. Bosch and Westinghouse still using dated analogue buttons, save Bosch's most expensive stuff. Every LG product I have owned has broken or has some serious flaw. Trying Beko, not because I'm optimistic, but because everyone else has burned me or is taking us for a ride offering dated models at high prices.
I hope my Miele dishwasher ends up lasting 10+ years, because I truly love it. But I no longer trust it's reliability. If the whole Internet was not full of Miele customers saying the same thing, I would be more optimistic. And Westinghouse's products for get good reviews and are reliable. It's a shame they are still selling a 10 year outdated model with cheap racks. Their clothes washer and Electrolux (Westinghouse) drier we bought are incredible and highly technological.
I will update this review in a few years regarding whether my Miele lasts, or as likely, does not.
Also, customer support felt bureaucratic, inefficient, highly vertically integrated, and overly dramatic. "Oh. We are so sorry this happened to you. Oh we are so sorry your dishwasher isn't working." That's not on the poor reps at the bottom ordered to do this. 3 weeks for a technician that probably won't fix my dishwasher on the day is not good enough. Nor is a $399 callout fee and $160 an hour. It is pretty clear a decent chunk of the Miele high price tag is going to support a structurally inefficient company. If their products were both high quality and reliable, I would tolerate it.
This will be our first and last Miele product if this thing does not last the distance, and I unfortunately have no reason to think it will. This is the first time I have ever had to buy a substitute dishwasher, the first time a dishwasher has ever failed in less than 2 years, twice at 4 months. I'll put up with these annoyances if the product is amazing and reliable. It is amazing engineering wise... but I doubt it will be reliable. I hope I am wrong.
I bought a dishwasher off Miele directly, a little over two years ago. I made contact via a phonecall with their service department a year after ownership because the bottom of the front panel was rusting. I was told it would be dealt with and I would hear back shortly. I didn't hear anything after a few months so sent an email - the response was… Read more
I was outside the service area but something would be arranged. I heard nothing so after a month I followed up again, and was told the Service Manager hadn't responded but it had been marked urgent and a fix would be found. And then silence. So over a year later I phoned the CS line again and was told it would be resolved, then in a subsequent phonecall, that a service tehnician would visit within a week... they didn't turn up and when I phoned I was told it was because I was outside the service area... which I had pointed out in the initial phonecall. Finally after another phonecall, a local whiteware repairer was engaged, a service person visited my property inspected the dishwasher, and submitted a report to Miele - I then received a phonecall to say this had been brought back under the Miele service team as one of their technicians was going to be in my area on Thursday of that week - I stayed home from work and waited. And no one turned up. Nor did I get a phonecall to advise me ANYTHING. I am beyond frustrated. I have attemped to resolve this by persevering with Miele directly, but haven't gotten anywhere. It has cost me time and money. All on top of a dishwasher which performs poorly - it doesn't dry properly, doesn't have a quick cycle function (the shortest is over 2 hours), it cleans ok, but the rust that was only along the bottom panel is now showing in places along the top of the panel. And so here I am: buyer beware!!!!

Started using my Miele dishwasher in March 2024 as part of a new apartment fit-out. After less than a year of regular use, it developed an F78 error, which relates to the circulation pump. While the issue itself was disappointing, Miele’s response made all the difference. Their team handled the case professionally and with care, and the overall… Read more
experience gave me confidence that the brand truly stands behind its products. It did take a little time to get the service appointment, but once it was arranged, everything was smooth and well-communicated. The support I received shows why Miele is considered a premium brand—you’re not just paying for the product, but also for the service that comes with it.
Been using this dishwasher now for about a year, and very happy with it. (don't you just hate reviews where someone only used the machine for a couple of days). The quality is good, and it washes MUCH better - consistently so - than my previous LG. I cannot recall even one time when glasses came out full of streaks or soap particles, unlike my LG… Read more
where this was very common. It is quiet. The shelves can adjust. The cutlery tray is fantastic, I can never go back to a basket. The ON button sometimes go to sleep and takes 5 or 10 presses to wake it up, but it takes just a coupe of seconds. Spend just that wee bit extra and get the Miele, you will not be sorry.
MIELE - our only choice for a new dishwasher! – Miele products are first class and are built to last. Hence, we didn't consider any other manufacturer to replace our 24 yo unit which stopped working recently. In addition, dealing with Miele's technicians and installers proved a much better option than dealing with white goods retailers - the customer service standards of MIELE Australia are hard to beat! Our Miele mistake – Against my better judgement my wife was persuaded to buy a Miele dishwasher, as our F&P after 17 years of reliable and excellent service developed a minor fault. , Easily repairable. But told that being German Miele must be the best we are now using a dishwasher that we hate. For instance, stemmed wine glasses cannot go where they should unless… Read more
their tray is lowered to prevent obstructing the cutlery drawer. This done dinner plates cannot stand upright but must lean forward to clear the water sprayer. this means that the forward leaning dinner plates now hamper the use of smaller plates in front of them. So fewer dinner plates accommodated, and smaller plates, bowls nowhere to go. A shocking design. We called customer service who told us the problem can be fixed if we buy smaller dinner plates!! It is also somewhat flimsy. Buying a Miele dishwasher in our opinion was a huge mistake.

Slow delivery – Haven’t received it yet, but already very disappointed about their delivery. Ordered on 7th May and select on 14th May delivery which is also confirmed via a phone call. But waited the whole day at home on the expected delivery date but didn’t get it. Turned out the delivery date is pushed to 17th without any notification. There is no delivery… Read more
details can be checked on line, nor email updates. I would rather buy other brands from local stores directly if I knew Miele’s delivery is this slow and inaccurate.

good all rounder – Easy to fit in larger items, as top rack is nice and deep and i love the cutlery basket. On the downside, the stainless steel front does show the grime, like kids fingers and drips of water. Also the base of the machine isnt covered by the decorative steel id you wind up the feet to bench height... Not a good look if your dishwasher is in a 'hole'… Read more
like ours (versus inbuilt). Worst feature is that lower rack doesnt always "stay" on tracks if pulling it out when empty.

Badly designed racks, poor drying, difficult to adjust program, manual unhelpful – We bought this Miele dishwasher (despite our bad previous service experience and the extortionate cost of spares) because our old one was pretty good and we could fix its minor problems ourselves. Also it had pretty good reviews in Choice. On the plus side: 1. The jets don't get clogged, so the filter is effective (although we do rinse off… Read more
anything obviously solid). 2. It's pretty quiet 3. It has a top tray for cutlery
Unfortunately: 1. The plate racks on this model cause adjacent items to clash together. No doubt they work ok with some plates, but not with either of our designs. That means the effective capacity is quite limited. 2. The numerical display gives minimal information - only the time - and the washing option controls are limited and obscure. 3. The 2 red LEDs either side of the time display are unlabelled and not even mentioned in the manual. 4. On our machine, only the water hardness is adjustable - just maybe - and the methods of adjustment of other features described in the manual just don't work, so if there is too much rinse aid foaming up the machine, you just have to change your brand. We would still buy their vacuum cleaners, but not another Miele dishwasher.
Decent dishwasher but a few annoying aspects – Our Bosch Series 6 dishwasher recently died after 9 years of diligent service and this Miele unit was comparably priced to the new Series 6 at the time. We waited almost 7 weeks for delivery, which was frustrating but seems to be the norm at the moment. Delivery day was a bit of a fail, with the wrong unit loaded on the truck and after no contact… Read more
from Miele 24hrs after that, I contacted their customer service...who advised another 6 week wait, with zero care factor. Ended up texting the delivery driver, who sorted it out and our unit was delivered the following day.
The dishwasher itself does a pretty good job of cleaning and it is quiet. Cutlery tray at the top is great, especially having the extra sprayer at the top. The draws feel a bit flimsy and the soap/rinse aid covers are a bit fiddly. The most frustrating thing is when attempting to just turn the machine on, due to a power saving mode, you have to close the door and wait 5 sec before the power button will do anything. Minor issue, but annoying.
Cleanest dishes ever – Lucky enough to have a landlord replace an old washer with this gem - it’s amazing - soooo quiet - as in - I actually have to check whether I’ve put it on or not, efficient time running - 47minutes start to finish (dry) I would recommend only having the cutlery draw/shelf as the basket is cumbersome and takes up space that could be used - you can… Read more
buy the cutlery shelf aftermarket - however I think it is too expensive for what it is and should come standard
