Miele G 5500 Questions & Answers
VerifiedWhat is the current equivalent version of the G5500sci?
Our seven year old Miele G5500sci will work for a couple of minutes into the cycle and then stop. The tap symbol with the word inlet appears on the LCD screen. I've removed the inlet hose and rinsed the filter with the same result. Not sure what is going on here.
I have had exactly the same issue at the same age. It also tripped the circuit breaker switch when it did this, so I am expecting that it is something electronic.
I have the meile 5500 sci semi integrated and its time to replace it . Can I reuse the front panel if I buy another meile dishwasher ? Is it easy to remove ? what Meile dishwasher would be comparible with the front panel
Hi KateC The Miele dishwashers are all standard size and I do not see any reason why you would not be able to use the existing front panel. However, before purchasing the new dishwasher I would very carefully measure it (the new dishwasher) and check against your front panel. Hope this helps. Regards Miz MK
Hi Kate, thanks for your question. The G5500sci can be replaced with the later sci models. G4203, G4930, G6620sci models. The front panel should fit as the parts for fitting the panel on old d/w are the same as the newer models. There are 2 holding points on either side of the door that hold the H frame that is screwed to the front panel. You will need a torx 20 bit to loosen off these holders. The door panel will lift off. There are instructions on how to fit the panel in the installation manual. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to call us on 1300 464 353 (please be aware these contact methods are for Australia only). Kind regards, Jack
Hi. I have a Miele dishwasher in our new house. Had asko twice before and loved them, never any problems, but went with the Miele to match the appliances in the kitchen. this one leaves food on dishes all the time. Our water according to council is soft and shouldn't require salt. I am using finish tablets. Also cutlery marks. We are constantly having to scrub bowls as residue is baked on. I should be able to load them in the racks without leaving spaces. Please help? Model G4420 SC thanks
Had the same problem so I called miele but they were of no help. I also had to leave spaces and often had to wash bowls with caked on food. Its mainly the bowls it can't seem to clean. I think you should call them maybe they can help you. I also believe they should know the machine does not perform the job it's meant to do satisfactorily.
I always use liquid dishwasher liquid as it's less harsh on the dishes.
I didn't have problems with the cutlery as mine has a cutlery drawer.
I finally I solved the problem by going out and buying an ASKO.
I am sorry I can't be of more help.
Good luck.
Hi Donna, We had a huge problem and after many service visits and lots of frustrating calls to Miele we finally got it replaced. They didn't know what was wrong and just wanted to replace parts (lower arm, motor etc). After the third or fourth visit I asked if they knew what was wrong and they admitted they didn't, but appeared determined to replace each part until it finally worked. The service desk were less than helpful and one of them was very condescending. Finally got it replaced however never, ever again.
Hi, does model G5220SCU allow you to do a cold pre-wash when you haven't got a full load to put through? thankyou
Not that I'm aware of but there is an energy save mode, a quick wash at 40 degrees or a sensor wash. Excellent machine, always cleans very well.
Apologies for the late reply. Have been in central Australia and only recently returned to civilisation. As mentioned above only a quick wash function as a pre-wash. We found it advantageous to re-programme (increase) the operating temperature for "normal" operations to achieve a clean wash.
Turn on stopcock request displayed on panel. Yet the stopcock was fully turned on.
The filter was clean yet the machine would not fill with water.
The G5500SCU appliance is within the two year warranty.
