Miele G 641 plus purchased in June 2002. Has been moved interstate, and has barely missed a beat. There was a few weeks in which one of the programs didn't work, but magically that seemed to repair itself. We have been (fairly) good at keeping filters clean, and we have been quite good at scraping plates. I only wish other appliances also lasted… Read more

24 years. Today may be it's final hurrah: it drains, though not at the end of every cycle. I will investigate further, but I'm not hopeful. However, I forgive it being tired after a quarter of a century of washing dishes.

Our Miele G641 plus is over 25 years old and still works, we use it 8-10 times a week – We don't know the exact age of the machine because my parents had it before us but it is amazing and we have only needed a new cutlery holder in all these years. If only all appliances were so good!

Miele G 641 SCI PLUS – Dishwasher installed in new house in 2002. It has been a pretty solid performer for the most part and has completed 6000+ cycles. Not really sure how long one can expect a dishwasher to last though. We scrape dishes of chunks/excess food before washing. Never had a clog but check filters regularly. Pros: Has been reliable in use. Quiet enough I… Read more

suppose (nothing to compare it to though as it was the first dishwasher I ever used). Reasonably efficient. Great interior layout compared to others at the time. Easy to: load/unload, clean, install powder/capsules and rinse aid. Well supported with parts that are easy enough to come by from Miele directly, which is bloody awesome for an older appliance, so machine life can be extended enabling a few more years out of it and not contributing unnecessarily to landfill. Easy adjustment of door open/close tension.

Cons: Door cable broke, replaced. Plastic door mechanism that the cable moves on broke, replaced. A roller or two had broken/worn, replaced. It should be noted that I have effected all repairs to the dishwasher myself.

Overall not bad in my opinion. It is still operational thus far but is starting to show its age. Plastic parts of filters becoming brittle/wearing away and I feel that it is coming to the end of its reliable, usable life so I am beginning to look for a suitable replacement.

Based on my experience with this particular machine I would recommend Miele for consideration on your shortlist of appliances so long as they don't cheap out on build quality/component quality etc., as so many other manufacturers seem to do, greed does that.

Overall I have had a good experience with Miele so far and 20 years thereabouts is not bad I think.

Quality for 20 years – We had this since 2001 and it’s done about 6000 cycles. We love it so much that when we rebuilt our kitchen last year we kept it. Last week the inlet/drain light came on and machine stopped. The waste hose clamp at the back had loosened and leaked into the bottom pan. So it stopped to prevent cupboard damage which was clever. Dried out the sensor… Read more

and tightened the clamp and it’s good as new. I regularly clean the drain basket as well as clear gunk from the impeller to keep it in good condition. Quality product well worth the extra $

Outstanding! – Our Miele 641i Plus was installed in our new house by the builder in 2003. In twice weekly use since, that's about 1800 cycles(!) it has never missed a beat. We put rinsed dishes in the dishwasher and not half the meal, I'm sure that has helped. Outstanding product!  Show details

Excellent results – Great dishwasher. Best I ever had. Very quiet and cleans everything, even heavy grease. Easy to maintain. Only one small issue was with the installation not the machine. Highly recommended.  Show details

Excellent – When we brought this it was a demonstration model so it had already been used we have had it for about 8 years and use it every 1 or 2 days it has never let us down and its very quite when in use in fact you have to be very close to it to hear it i would definitely buy another miele dishwasher again the only downside is that its a dial controller… Read more

instead of a electronic push button one our draw hits the dial unless the door is completely closed.

So expensive to fix – Loved my dishwasher while it worked got it because I thought it would last me a long time 7 years old needs repairs of 400 dollars plus to fix the same problem I only had fixed just over 12 months ago that was 300 then so I've brought a new lg and love it sorry they should come a bit more to the party to customers 150 call out to much Looks Steam exhaust fan keeps dying inlet drain blocks all the time

Miele disappoints – We had one of these for 7 years, it died, we called Miele - got a Miele tech in, who charged us $190 only to inform us he didn't know what the problem was! I could have paid my 15 year old son for the same diagnosis and kept the money in the family. We replaced the Miele with a Bosch SMS68M02AUW from Appliances Online a great hassle free… Read more

company that understands customer care - take note Miele.

We are surprised that the Bosch Dishwasher is quieter, does a much better clean, and is cheaper to run - oh yes it cost 30% less than the equivalent Miele model - my recommendation is save your money, Miele might have a stronger brand - but that is probably based on the dishwashers of 20 years ago. Certainly Bosch have a better product now.

Noisy, bad reliability, poor very expensive repair service

Excellent – We are a family of 6. I turn it on every night before I go to bed and all I hear is the water gurgling in the drain. I can fit an amazing amount of things in the Miele. This has been a wonderful workhorse for me and if you look after them (clean the strainer, run a dishwasher cleaner every now and then) it will give many years of use. (for my… Read more

above con: when I do happen to run a cycle during the day and need to unload it quickly. Open the door and let some of the steam out, close the door again to let the heat of the machine continue to dry. It won't get everything perfectly dry but will improve results in 20 minutes). Love my Miele (lovingly known as Milly). Have had this machine for 8 years and have never had a problem with it, no repairs. Washes well when things are stacked in correctly. Good simple controls. Kids have not managed to turn it on as it needs 2 buttons pushed. Reasonably quiet. Like any dishwasher some things wont clean when stacked incorrectly. If opened straight after the cycle is finished items are still wet, rarely ever a problem for me as everything is dry in the morning!

Bad investment – A tempremental dishwasher that has to be run on the highest hottest setting all the time with heaps of powder. The drain gets blocked all the time even though I rinse all the dishes first. It's quiet but definitely a rip off in terms of cost. My machine is only 4 years old by the way. Quiet Expensive and unreliable

Very quiet, washes well, Uses up less water than handwashing. G 638 SCU Plus – We never thought about a dishwasher but this one was in our new house and we are gradually getting to love it. The previous owners were very keen about it and they had it for the last 10 years. So every night we run it through all of the breakfast, lunch, and dinner dishes, and it has so far performed faultlessly for the last 8 months. Hopefully it will continue for a while yet. Cutlery tray, quiet, doesn't use much water. Nothing yet.

Excellent – I expect dishes to be pefectly clean and free of residue, whether they are washed by hand or machine. The most important d/w factors are great washing and reliability. Miele delivers both. We bought our Miele 641 about 7 years ago. Typically running one full load per day, using a standard powder. It has not needed any repairs and has no rust or… Read more

other wear and tear damage. Easy to use. We scrap our dishes rather than pre-rinse. Only things like dried porridge, or dried custard jugs need the "skin" removed to wash perfectly. Rice, eggs and cheese usually wash easily. Occasionally we wash saucepans in the dishwasher. Dries well enough, although we often open the door slightly, and turn off the cycle. Drying in room air reduces power usage. Washes really well. The cutlery tray is brilliant, and allows the kids to empty the dishwasher with reduced risk of cuts. It washes the cutlery better than using the cutlery basket. No exposed heating element. Filter is easy to clean. Good design of trays with flexibilty to adjust. Low risk of breakage. Meant to be a 14 place d/w. In reality 10-12, or some items won't wash or rinse properly. This has been recognised by Miele who, I think, have since changed the claim on place settings. Don't overfill (true for all dishwashers)

Excellent – A dishwasher we will keep forever. The simple 'non electronic' dial type appeals to us and seem to be more reliable. For a dishwasher that runs 3 times every 2 days it has not failed once for more than the 2 years we have owned it. A very underrated brand. Great wash every time (with finish dishwasher tablets). Multitude of arrangement options to accommodate bulky wares. Long wash times. Can be a bit hefty on the electricity.

Good – Great machine. Always washes dishes well. Disappointed that Miele doesnt make the cockroack warning more prevelant so you are aware and can surface spray around the area to prevent; and/or seal the unit so it doesnt happen... Excellent wash without manually rinsing dishes. Cutlery tray is fantastic. quiet. Cockroaches got into the controller… Read more

and shorted it out. This is apparently a common problem as the spare parts guy at Miele suggested it when i was on the phone ordering a new part. $560 for a new controller...

Excellent – I love this dishwasher, my husband was talking about moving recently, and the only reason I objected was that we would have to buy another Miele for a new house. I couldn't live without my miele dishwasher. I recommend all my friends to spend the extra and get a Miele. They have excellent after sales service and advice. They are the best! This… Read more

is the best dishwasher you can buy. Worth the extra money for a miele, I love the cutlery drawer at the top, saves losing a finger or two with those silly baskets that have fork and knives stick out every where. The stainless steel on the front is excellent, but does need more attention than a black front would.

Good – We've had the Miele G641 machine for around 5 years now and it continues to perform well. The only drawback I've found is with the stainless finish, that every appliance seems to be covered in, which requires more cleaning attention than the old "white goods". Although the machine performs perfectly as it's supposed to (doesn't get dry egg off the… Read more

knives and forks, but never heard of a dishwasher that does!), however if there was a design change I'd like to see something done with the cutlery basket which takes up valuable space in the lower drawer. Friends bought a Kleenmaid dishwasher and that has a slide out tray above the top drawer where the cutlery lays flat, leaving the bottom drawer clear. I can't say how their machine performs, but it was just a feature that I thought was a good idea. All in all a reliable machine and when buying this Miele dishwasher the sales person told us it would be a 20 year machine and 5+ years down the track I think they're right. It washes quite well None until I saw friends Kleenmaid with a better cutlery rack. Oh and stainless front gets marked easily.
