Emailed Miele some weeks ago now.....................no response at all. And we have a lot of Miele products in our kitchen....................steam oven that has never worked properly & has therefore hardly been used..............induction top that failed shortly after installation...............now this fridge handle that they want well over $200 for. But I've never had to fix a fridge handle before in my life on any fridge that I've ever owned in my 70 long years on this planet! Why do these companies act like this or, better still, why don't they produce products that don't break down before they can be reasonably expected to do so? This isn't cheap stuff after all. Some weeks have now passed since we posted this review & have heard not a word from Miele. It amazes me that these companies don't acknowledge that they have sold a [in this case expensive] product with a design fault & are quite prepared to lose customers this way. The likes of Miele [& Volkswagon!] spend a fortune on advertising trying to attract [or con?] new customers, but abandon old customers who have genuine provable complaints. Would I ever buy another Miele product? Not on your bl..dy life!!

Very disappointed with top brand! – Water pools in the fridge regularly. Has leaked and swollen kitchen cabinet nearby. Freezes some items while others aren’t cold enough. If anything touches the back wall it pools water. We’ve always been very careful with handles as they looked bad design and cheap.....and now tonight it broke!!! And approx. $300 to replace! Broken handle, split seal....terrible design from a quality brand – We have the Miele fridge freezer combo. As with a lot of other reviews of this product, the handle on the fridge has snapped. Not happy as this is an expensive fridge/freezer combo and meant to be a quality brand. To add to this, due to the broken handle and obviously having to open the fridge still, the seal in the fridge now has a split and also needs to be replaced. Poor design and quality of handles – The handle of this refrigerator has broken - this is the second occasion. It really is time that Miele got to grips with this problem. The unit otherwise operates well (apart from the necessity of continually needing to attend to the drain). It's an unfortunate fact that the door handles on these units break with alarming regularity, probably a design or manufacturing defect, and at $217 each, the cost can mount up. Irrespective on the manufacturers warranty (2 years in the case of this fridge), the actual warranty term (in Australia) is how long a reasonable person would expect the lifetime of that product to be. So, in this case, I would expect that fridge to last 10 years (you may have a different opinion, but that's mine). So, if there's a manufacturing defect that surfaces within that time (such as door handles that break), Miele are obligated to fix it free of charge under warranty. Their default position is to tell you that the warranty has expired and you need to pay, but once you remind them of the warranty terms according to the consumer rights legislation, they have to provide the fix Free of charge (unless you misused the product). Also remind them that it's a federal offence to mis-inform you of your consumer rights, punishable by imprisonment. They try to get you to pay, and you shouldn't be paying, they have to resolve the issue free of charge and they secretly know that too.

The manufacturers warranty is in addition to the warranty afforded to us by our consumer rights, not in-place of.

This warranty protection afforded by our consumer rights is true for most items purchased in Australia.

It's still being used in garage/man cave. Never ever had to replace the handle. Come on Miele do something about this annoying and expensive product flaw ????

Terrible – We are normally such Miele advocates but this was such an expensive waste of money. Fridge only has several design faults. The major one is the part of the handle that pushes the door apart from the fridge has had to be duct taped to give it extra omph to allow the door to open. for an extended time. The door doesn't close automatically like other cheaper options. This is disastrous in a holiday home fridge. Returned to a big pool of water that caused damage to cabinetry. Thirdly, the fridge creaks like its haunted. Told the retailer and they said its normal. Ask yourself when youve woken up in the night to your fridge adjusting. Save yourself money and just don't buy it.

Has wrecked my floor from leaking fridge – I purchased my Miele Fridge and Freezer (Side by Side )thinking I was getting good quality product but the Fridge Side iis a LEMON. told me to use a cable tie to stick down the hole to unblock WHY DO I HAVE TO DO THIS on an expensive fridge? It blocks everyday so I have water leaking out therefore swelling my Laminate floors and wrecking them. I wish I could throw this fridge on the tip but I paid so much money cant afford to.

I actually told my husband that there is a flaw in the design and they all need to be replaced with a better quality handle as this is more of s case of faulty product which the consumer affairs l am sure will agree with.

I honestly did not know the problem was this bad.

last note l am now very upset with the consultants as they to tried to blame the breakage on us knowing it was a common problem with the fridge.

If my handle does break out of warranty l know who to call.

Not a quality product – After only 5 months of use the handle is coming off. Even though it’s under warranty meile say it might be my fault and may have to charge me a call out fee. This fridge has had very light use by mostly just one person as all my children have left home. No quality and no warranty that backs you up when the product fails. Great quiet refrigerator – I recently purchased a Miele refrigerator and freezer (side by side). They are very quiet and efficient models that keep the food at a constant cold temperature. the handles will hold up over time with kids opening the fridge. All in all very happy with the new products.

result of poor treatment of the product. Called the agent where we purchased the product and they phoned me back with the quote for the replacement. I immediately told them it wasn't on, my old fridge of 20 years is still going strong in the garage having never been services. I call the Miele Service Dept who agreed to replace the handle free of charge for me to fit. the back panel of my fridge is constantly iced up and things always stick to it if pushed onto the panel, the fridge is running at the recommended temperature.

I splurged and purchased a number of Miele products for my new home three years ago and have been extremely disappointed. No longer are Miele cream of the crop, their quality has declined. You can spend a lot less and get better.

cover free of charge. The fridge hadn't reached its warranty yet!!!! So many other things annoys me about it. Its size...it looks big but this is an illusion can hardly fit food enough for 4. Had I known so many problems with this fridge I wouldn't have chosen it. Looks aren't everything.
