DO NOT BUY – WMV960: Don't buy. Not worth the exorbitant price. It conks like a cropper that it is. Overnight wash cycles often conk out. Not only is laundry undone the following morning, but the loud fault alarm wakes you up in the middle of the night. And, on the odd occasion that the wash cycle completes, the wash result is unsatisfactory. Show details

But, oh!, the service! – I bought this washing machine in Dec, 2016 and have been very happy with it. I have used Miele washing machines for a lot of years because I firmly believe they are the best. I purchased an extended warranty, too, 'just in case'. Recently, the clothes have started to come out odorous. I am meticulous with the machine, running cleaning cycles &… Read more

clearing filters each month. I contacted the local technician, who looked at the machine. He said the machine had a 'knocking' sound and probably had something stuck between the drums. He also said it had rust in the bottom of it and looked like it had been leaking since we bought it and should be replaced. The Miele authorized technician sent the machine back to me after about 4 weeks with instructions not to use cold water cycles & not to use washing powders, because it causes 'grit' to build up. I asked him what he found in the drum that was causing the noise, and was told that it was a 'four hour job' for which Miele would not pay him, so he was not going to pull it apart. To make matters worse, the machine was returned in a filthy state, with grease over the sides and scratched fascia from tools he had used to take the front off the machine. I rang Miele customer service and spoke to [Name Removed], who was very understanding, and promised to get back to me after she had made some enquiries. When I hadn't heard from her I rang again the following week on the 23rd of Oct. and spoke to a young male worker who had me go through the whole case again, because there were 'no notes' left anywhere by [Name Removed]. This young man was not in any way helpful: he kept cutting me off, told me he knew 'everything' about my case, and would go through a process, where he would contact the technician involved and get back to me. I also sent him a video of the damage done to the machine by the tech, but he refused to look at it. He contacted the technician and then called me to say [Name Removed] had already contacted the technician the week before. I asked if I could speak to her and he told me that she had only a third of his experience, to which I said I was able to communicate better with her; he then said if I spoke to [Name Removed] I had just wasted 40 minutes of his time. I advised him that I was on hold for 48 minutes before I even got through to him, but he refused to allow me to speak with her. I then asked him if I could speak to his manager, and he told me that this was unnecessary and also a waste of time. I asked him what the process for complaints was and he advised me that there is no complaints process at Miele. He said if all you want to do is make a complaint about me it's going to take more time to get your issue sorted. I told him it wasn't about him, that this was an issue with my washing machine and I would like his manager to call me. He said that I would be contacted in the next few days, but that 'I can't make my manager do anything'. This week I have heard nothing from anyone. My machine, is dirty, with scratched fascia, leaks, makes a funny noise, and the the clothes still come out with a weird stench. I don't understand this; I had encouraged all my children buy Miele, too, thinking they were the best. I'd just never had a problem before now. 12/10/2021 - Let's add insult to injury. [Name Removed] from Miele got in touch via the mediation option on Product Review to say they were truly sorry and they would have someone call me. A week later and still nothing from [Name Removed] contact or my previous contact with the 'support staff'. Wow. Just wow.

Issue Resolved – I purchased the washer & Dryer in 2016 as well as all Miele kitchen appliances in 2017. Firstly, had issues with the Twindos Phase 1 bottles collapsing, early on when I purchased the machine. Customer service said it is not a fault. Year later I found out it was an issue and they changed the style of the bottle as many customers complained from… Read more ·  3

the same issue, yet no one call me earlier to let me know and I had to go through the trouble of transfering the Phase 1 liquid in the empty Phase 1 bottle that came with the machine. Very frustrating.

NOW I am extremely frustrated as my washer had a F0212 error appear and I had to get a tech to come a couple of weeks ago and repair the machine as the Twindos sensor was not working costing $337.42 and I only had the machine for 4 years. You don't expect a $5000 machine to have any issues in such a short time. My old Fisher & Pykel lasted over 15 years without any issues and previous to that Westinghouse machine lasting over 20 years without an issue. I thought I was paying for quality and peace of mind. I contacted customer service to request a refund of the full repair cost and all I got was, well we can refund you the service call portion of $179 as a sign of good will. REALLY!!!! That's Miele's customer service. VERY VERY UNHAPPY!

I've spent close to $40,000 on Miele appliances thinking I'm getting Excellent German engineered quality appliances. I've also had the fridge handle snap after a couple of years and the Dishwasher door latch jam and had to get a tech to replace them. I question if Miele is High quality or just an overpriced headache.

Nothing can go wrong! – From the product, to the customer service, Miele truly are an outstanding company who pride themselves on quality products paired with quality service. The machine is brilliant, I truly can tell that the clothes are washed more gently. Will continue to now buy all Miele appliances and I know I can trust them!  Show details ·  1

Great product – Both the W1 washer and T1 dryer can be connected to my home network, allowing me to check detergent levels and machine performance data directly from my smartphone. The W1 machine can automatically adjust the water level and filling duration according to the load. This is not only good for the environment, but also saves water and electricity.  Show details ·  1

Lives up to the name. Very Impressed!!! – I am fussy when it comes to appliances and will research until I am satisfied. The WMV960 doesn’t seem to have many reviews and some are quite off putting with noise issues that it produced. I decided to just dive in and get it anyway. 1. Noise Level After installing and setup as per the manual (just over 2hrs including time taken… Read more

for an initial empty wash cycle) I ran the machine and full load set with 1600 spin. It was so quiet the only thing I could hear was the sloshing of clothes (normal) but even then seemed like it was not a loud as my previous flag ship Samsung. When it entered spin I loved how it just started and didn’t muck around. You can hear the spin increasing and this is where there is noise however given the speed and load, I wouldn’t describe this as noisy. My old F&P tumbler dryer was far noisier. With my laundry door open and sitting in the. Next room I could just hear the spin of i was sitting there waiting for it. Otherwise it was pretty quiet.

2. Wash Quality

I have only used the twindos and so far I love the fragrance and the cleanliness. You need to follow the instructions to set it up and play to get the right settings but once it’s done it’s great. I had bought empty containers to use my own cleaning products but now I don’t think I will need to.

Colors came out bright and even whites came out fantastic. First load some whites came out grey but second load onwards after reading the manual and adjusting the detergent everything was fine.

The rinse is also great and feels like it gets rid of all residue.

I also had some white towels stained with dark hair dye. Using the twindos for whites, with an intensive wash cycle, all stains were removed!!

3. Speed

I found it to be quicker than the display tells me. The time changes as it’s washing. If it Sensors that it doesn’t need that long the time will drop.

I had it on the speed wash program extra and each load was just over an hour with amazing results.

4. Features

So many wash programs to choose from. I had the chance to visit the Miele Experience Center where I learnt about how each of these work so that helped me customise my wash cycles.

The touch screen is a bit dated compared to how others in the market but feels robust and enduring.

Love how the door shut sounds solid.

Love how it has a small footprint yet has a big 9kg drum.

5. Pet hates

I wish it had a bigger size than 9kg. (I used to have a 16kg before this) but having said that I’m just lazy and want to throw everything in at once. If you sort your laundry you won’t hit the 9kg often unless you hace a large household.

If stacking with the TMV840 the stacking kits require you to drill/screw in to the top of the machine. I checked this with Miele and confirmed it’s true but if you ever decide to go side by side you can replace the lid for around $250AUD. personally though if you decide to stack then you probabaly wont need to go side by side unless you rent your place and move a lot.

One more slot for auto dosing of fabric softer. Would be great if using Miele phase 1&2. That said. I didn’t use any softener with thr Miele phase 1&2 but my clothes came out kind of soft anyway.

No wifi for this machine in Australia yet. Apparently it’s comng as an add on module end of 2018.

6. Overall

I would give this machine a 4 out of 5. It lists points because of its user interface touch screen being a bit dated in looks (but don’t get me wrong it works very well), no wifi yet and having to drill in to the lid for stacking kit.

Anyone looking to buy I suggest you get in to your local Miele experience centre to check it out. The consultants won’t try to sell you but happily take you through all the features and let you play with it so you get a good feel of how it will work.

For those that have reported issues with. Lose and errors I would suggest that is an issue and to get Miele out ASAP to have a look. There most certainly should not be any ticking noise is the spin cycle!

I will review the matching dryer soon. (TMV840). If anyone would like a video review let me know and I’ll make one.

October 12th 2018 Update: UPDATE: Issue with WMV960 in the first month of owning it -Terrible Service

I previously wrote an outstanding review on this machine with 5 stars.

After a month of owning it, the machine developed a loud clanking sound. The tech confirmed it was because of a known issue with the suspension springs in side the machine that is causing the issue. Apparently this is quite common and a simple change of the of the springs will fix this.

I still stand by what I said in my previous review - the machine is outstanding but am somewhat concerned that if this is known issue with the machine, why is it still being sent out new with this issue and not having it rectified in the warehouse!

Service person booked me in on the wrong date the second time round and then today on the day of the actual service I have taken time off work to sit around and wait for them, only to be told by the service tech that he is unable to attend my job as it is a two person job (which is what was booked in however the service department only allocated one person instead of two).

It is now 3-4 weeks since i first called about this problem and still no resolution. Whilst the machine can still be used, its a bit annoying that having paid this much for a washing machine, i have to wait so long for service and they cant' get it right. When i had my top of range Samsung, the two times that i needed a service tech to come out, they were there within 3 days!

I don't think this is acceptable to wait this long let alone have a machine with issues when you pay $4500 for it.

Being a first time Miele customer I am extremely disappointed and have lost all confidence in the brand. Anyone wishing to spend this much on a machine, be prepared that there may be issues. Whilst it cleans exceptionally well.. the build just doesn't seem to live up to what I had believed to be.

At this stage I want a new replacement machine given it was only around 4 weeks old when the issue started happening but have been advised that even a new one MAY have the same issue develop due to the springs.

Waiting for a resolution from the service department and will update my review as appropriate.

Since this review, I have had the machine replaced only to find 3 weeks later the same problem has occurred on the new machine (just like what this technician said would happen due to this being a known fault). I called Miele today and was told they are happy to refund the machine but want me to pay restocking fee of 20%. This fee is to return the dryer and all the accessories and extended warranty i bought with the washer. I don’t feel this is right as I am not returning the items because i simply don’t want it. I purchased the washer and dryer as a set together with all accessories and extended warranty. Why should i have to pay a restocking fee when it is not my fault that the machine has a known issue. I have had 2 machines already both with exactly the same problem. I want a refund of everything. I wanted a set fo my laundry. If i return the washing machine, it will no longer be a matching set like i wanted. If i had known this fault existed before i purchased this machine then I would have never bought it.

Very very disappointed in Miele. I had such high expectations of the brand but now that has been tarnished with this experience. I will be taking this to fair trading to get a resolution as it is simply unacceptable.

Anyone purchasing the WMV960 Be ware - there is a knocking / clanking sound that will start after the first month or so. Miele Technicians has advised this is a known issue due to the spring side the machine. The springs need to all be replaced which requires opening the machine right up and tilting the drum to get to all of them. This is completely unacceptable to have to do on a brand new machine! It also requires two technicians to perform this repair.

October 16th 2018 Update: Known issue with machine made aware by service technicians

Don't get me wrong, I love this machine but there is an issue with it that all buyers should be aware of. This was confirmed by several Miele technicians that I spoke with and inspected the machine.

I have had the machine replaced and the same issue has happened. The technicians advised that this issue will keep happening unless the pull apart the machine and replace all the springs/shock absorbers inside. Given this is a $4500, I wasn't happy with a 3 week old machine being opened up so requested a refund.

Initially the customer resolution team said they would refund the machine but because i bought it as a set, the matching dryer would attract a 20% restocking fee. I expressed this was not fair as it's not like I simply changed my mind. It was due to a known fault!.

Cut a long story short, the matter was addressed through their customer service department. I spoke to a lady named Jenny who had read my case on here and called me to advise that there would be no restocking fee.

Please be aware if buying this machine, there is a known fault!

Also the Australian version doesn't come with wifi. You will have to purchase the WiFi module at separately via their spare parts department.

Beware of this model – Washing and rinsing of clothes is satisfactory. However, we have experienced ongoing problems and after a year and multiple call outs, our Miele washer is not operating correctly. Many items of clothing have been damaged - including two cashmere jumpers (made in Italy) that have shrunk to child size. There seems to be a problem with water… Read more

temperature and also the hygiene information continues to be displayed despite doing many machine cleanses. Miele servicing is poor - I waited for 40 minutes on the 0800 number only to be disconnected. It took a further 40 minutes to get through. Last week we had the technicians re-instal software and were assured the hygiene information would not be a problem again - two days later the message is permanently on the screen. We expected a machine like this could wash delicate items. Disappointing performance for a machine we paid $5,000 for!

HIGH PRICE TO PAY – Washes well, but keeps coming up with a "clean machine error", only had this for a month, apparently its a fault that needs updating. Also it doesn't indicate when this twin dos is empty. VERY Expensive and not really any better than any other front loader. Miele service is pretty bad.  Show details

My "go-to" brand – "Super machine. Front loader. I like the smooth front - so easy to clean! Also like the self-cleaning detergent dispenser drawer, a new feature since my last Miele and great in hard water areas. This machine is so quiet I initially had to keep checking it was actually working. Love the 22 minute quick wash programme. This is my go-to brand.  Show details

Best rinsing – Unlike the previous reviewer, I don't find any problem with rinsing performance with the Miele. I have always used Miele washing machines and used Water plus with extra rinse option with most programmes. With the new W1 series, Miele has given the customer even more flexibility. The 'settings' menu allows you to adjust the water plus level and if… Read more
