Mission White Corn Tortillas

These are okay when you get the method right. I use a crepe frying pan, water spray/atomiser, plastic tortilla keeper, kettled water. And they turn out warm and floppy. (Agree with others that the packet instructions are way off ...) I came here looking for reviews of the *yellow* corn tortillas, which I've had a lot of trouble with (thicker & drier). These *white* corn ones are much easier to get right.
Follow-up · You really need a non-stick pan if your tortillas are moist when you drop them in. Google "comal". Amazon sell Winco tortilla keepers for around 20 bucks. I suggest you warm them up with kettled water for a few minutes, them pour out just before putting in the first tortilla. A little water residue on the inside is a good thing. The whole game with tortillas is to get them very warm (actually pretty hot) without drying them out. Some folks even dunk them in water before frying. I use a water spray for the yellow ones (not so importantfor the white ones) - spray both sides on taking out of fridge (then rest 10min), then when on pan spray the upper side again, flip when hot (monitor with fingers), spray upper side again (so both sides sprayed twice in total). Put in keeper, sit another 10min (turn pile after 4min). All hard to explain, as depends on how much water comes out of sprayer, how hot the pan, your sense of heat in the tortillas, etc, etc ... Ido 4 tortillas each run, 1 on pan at a time, but i suppose you coulddo 2 on pan at atime. Ive also tried steaming them but results weren't great.

I wondered why these were a little like cardboard, then I noticed I had bought gluten free. These were hard to eat and swallow. Didn’t taste particularly nice either.

Breaks and crumbles apart. Terrible, not fit for purpose – We have used normal Mission Tortillas which are as ok as any really. But these Mission White Corn Gluten-Free Tortillas ARE RUBBISH. After following the instrustions (we always check first) they fell apart as soon as they were rolled. What came out of the oven after being ever so careful was a broken mess. I see someone else has the same experience, but you are still selling the same rubbish? What's with that? We won't buy them again, no way. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS PRODUCT. YOU'LL REGRET IT...

Not recommended – These tortillas include preparation instructions for how to heat in a microwave. I followed the instructions exactly, and the tortillas fell apart. Some when folded (as you need to do in order to eat them); some simply all by themselves. They fell into thin rubbery shreds and were 100% useless for the use they're intended for (wrapping around beans). I wasted a whole day making the rest of the meal, only to have it ruined by these completely, utterly useless tortillas. If I'd known how hopeless the microwave method was I'd happily have spent the extra 20 minutes heating them on a gas flame as usual, but I was trying to save time, and directly following the instructions. (NB: we have to eat GF as a family member is a coeliac). Thanks, Mission--you literally just wrecked this meal single-handed!
