but it got out and now the bowl is useless. It is now upside down outside draining before I throw it in the bin – Bowl where all the ingredients go was leaking badly. The stainless steal interior was eaten away by what was inside the bowl itself, which helps to freeze the ice cream. Show details · 4
Not sure this was a good buy – Bought the Mistral Igloo quite some time ago and it got relegated to the back of the pantry. Had not been used. Saw it yesterday, got it out, read instructions, started the recipe, and whamo, 3 spins of the motor and it died. Pretty disappointed as the box had never even been opened. I suppose that is my fault, but when you buy something new, you at least expect to be able to use it once. Show details
It's good and bad – I purchased a iGLOO ice cream maker and it works a treat. I've made about a dozen loads using this. So there is down sides, the ice cream doesn't really freeze but if you put it in a air tight container in the freezer perfect! I use it almost every day lol
Excellent – Bought mine for $10 at a garage sale. New but with no box or instructions Was a little worried after reading bad reviews but I must of got a good one. No snapped blade or faulty motor. I never run it for more than the recommended 40 minutes. . Perfect ice cream every time. Easy to use nothing
Mistral Igloo a real dud – Never having used an ice cream maker previously, I scrupulously followed all the directions. Even after leaving the bucket in the freezer for 24 hours or until the next batch still resulted in a runny product, hardly "ice cream" as only the edges and bottom become somewhat frozen. Then on the fourth attempt - the small plastic insert that drives… Read more
the paddle broke.
However, I have been happy with the reason for buying this product as the 'Queen Gelato' pre-mixed packets (just add milk) was absolutely delicious.
On the other hand, I am so unhappy with the Mistral Igloo 1.3 litre ice cream maker as it only lasted a mere 22 days... with 4 work-outs - so I'm taking it back to Woolworths to see if I can get my money back as I won't accept any replacement unit after this.
Now I am wondering how I will process the extra packets of gelato mix without an ice cream maker... Back to the old freeze-scrape-beat-freeze method I suppose...
This unit is different to the one pictured - it is white with a flat top The 'free' ceramic ice cream bowls Noisy, didn't freeze properly andt he paddle is flimsy mechanism that drives the paddle broke
Worked fine the first two times, then died – Made great ice cream the first two times. On the third attempt, it was totally dead - motor failed. Seems this is a common problem. So, now have to go through tedious claim process with Woolworths. Probably can't get a replacement or refund as I can't find my receipt. Definitely would *not* recommend. Created perfect ice cream, twice, before it failed. It only worked twice before it died.
don't bother – The unit I got lasted an hour and hasn't worked since. Even the ice cream wasn't any where near frozen. The returns policy was excellent by woolworths but still caused a lot of inconvience. The unit was inexpensive, however this is an example perhaps that you get what you pay for. Not happy at all. Convenient Stopped working after just 1 hour
