I'm on my third unit – I'm glad I got this for under $30 from BigW, but I had to take it back twice to get replaced. The first unit didn't turn on at all, and the second unit only lasted a couple of months. It isn't amazing, but it's good for the price. I do like the ability to make a quick soup in one device rather than having to clean heaps of things. I keep telling… Read more

people it's like a Thermomix, but without the scales built in or the huge price tag. So... if you can pick up one cheap, give it a go, but don't expect it to last.

Great soup maker but has problems – I loved this soup maker. It was easy to use and made beautiful soup in record time. However cleaning it is not easy (had to have my partner pull it a part) and mine has burnt half of the base so is now unusable. The screws also rusted quite quickly. Would have liked to get a lot more use our of it

Good soups, bad base – This machine is very easy to use. Cut your vegies or whatever ingredients take your fancy, top up with water and turn it on. It's a shame, however, that Mistral did not have the foresight to include a non-stick base as the blended food tends to burn and stick to it. Cleaning the burnt base leaves either an irremovable residue or the surface… Read more

of the heating plate flakes.

For a $100 machine, I would have expected this sort of problem to be ironed out in the development stage but obviously not.

It would also have been a good idea to package the jug and the base unattached. After spending who knows how long in the box, they were so tightly fixed together that I had to heat water in it to separate them.

Enjoy some good soups with this but be prepared for a lot of cleaning. That burnt food really sticks! Simple operation with good results. Cooking soup burns on base. Impossible to clean without defacing it.

[edit] I have noticed five years later (2019) that the product has been discontinued. I guess this is indicative of the shortcoming of it.

Disappointing – I returned the first one because the digital display was faulty and the soup maker I received in exchange has a faulty timer that will not start when pressed. The base is also impossible for me to twist off, I asked several others if they could remove it bit it was on so tight that no one else could remove it either. Faulty digital functions

Great buy – Bought this and has been using it to make hot beverages and soups. Very easy to use. Didn't come with a manual guide, but it's not rocket science, so easy to configure. It does the job, reliable, and affordable It's efficient, didn't cost you other cookware to clean after making the soup... Price, efficient Heavy to wash

I love this product for what it can do, it makes perfect soups – Found this machine excellent for making soups, but I had to return the first one as the paint on the base below the blades were flaking off after my second use, now the second machine has done the same, I am not sure if I should keep this machine as I like it apart from the paint flaking off, could this paint affect out health. Anyone had this… Read more

same problem. Inexpensive and reliable Paint flaking on base below blades, slight heated motor smell when blending.

Mistral Soup Maker – Great product, have made several soups, all of which have trial & error. Too easy, just chop in the Veg and throw in the stock. Use your imagination. Yes, the base is hard to undo the first time around. Persistence is required, but it gets easier the next time. The self cleaning function is great and to be able to fry your onions and garlic in the bottom is just brilliant.. Very happy customer.  Show 2 replies
