Bought new in Oct 23. $45,200 with factory tow bar. Space cab, tub body , auto. Has 51 000km atm of review. Owned 4wds all my driving life of 40 years. Cruisers, hilux's and Patrols >(the most reliable vehicles of the lot). Triton ,Value for money and off road ability (rear diff lock included ) plus reliability has been great. comings of vehicle before purchase, intercooler hoses, head unit quality etc, but they were replaced by 6 mths of age with better quality aftermarket. No issues. As with all my 4wds, replaced suspension with 40mm lift from " Loaded 4wd". What a game changer especially rear, harsh initial shock of leaves gone with a much more supple comfortable ride. Best aftermarket replacement on vehicle. Vhedia head unit great system. Reports of brakes wearing premature, not with my car, pads still 2 thirds of meat left , disc's rotors no issues. This tourer car has been around Australia twice now, no issues. Negative - paint on chassis weld areas, poor, grab a can of black paint straight away before going off road as I did and also grease all uni's and suspension yourself. Read manual, alot of people think consumables are a warranty issue, there not, belts, hoses, bulbs ,tyres, brakes, wipers, paint wear etc Remember how much you paid for vehicle before you compare it to vehicles costing 8 to 20 grand more and being disappointed. It still gets you to the exact same places , sometimes more competently and with a little of the money saved put it on suspension and tyres and start grinning.

Don't purchase latest Triton GLX+ if you want extras such as roof racks – Very happy with the car overall although there are quite a few glitches in the software that need to be sorted out and the dealership does not seem to be able to deal with them. Very unhappy with factory extras not being available even to this date. Purchased the car in late June 2024 which included canopy, tow bar and tub liner. I also asked… Read more
about roof racks for the cab and was told they would be available around October, in addition seat covers were not available. Was told by salesman would have to wait a month for canopy to be provided and it arrived 4 months later and asked to have a roof rack fitted and was told they are not available and no idea when they would be. At date of writing I have sourced seat covers from elsewhere, still do not have roof racks and no sign of one ever being available for canopy.
Display head unit glitching problem – Got the ute a few weeks ago and immediately had the head unit issues. Randomly glitches out, sometimes not recovering at all. Mitsubishi Service Center did a software upgrade, but it happened within 5 minutes again and still does. Now they are blaming everything else and dont want to continue investigating the issue?! Please contact me if you have… Read more
or had the issue. Update 8 Jan 2026: I have had to find a different service center to my local one, they replaced the display head unit and it worked for ~6 months. Completely dead again now and booked for another replacement.
Some other mentions of the issue, for those interested. https://www.productreview.com.au/reviews/5d0175ae-d616-52f2-894a-31574b3102cc https://www.productreview.com.au/reviews/835eca49-a46a-550d-90a6-dbb92fb7ba7d https://www.productreview.com.au/reviews/62d5ff89-30f5-5ac9-96fd-54b1304e84b0 https://www.productreview.com.au/reviews/fde42e84-3178-5595-975a-56d04ddf13d4 https://www.productreview.com.au/reviews/f22fd6bd-f5e5-5ac5-8ef2-35262480c83c https://www.productreview.com.au/reviews/3a7f40d7-097f-5992-bdda-2fa61fb49c93 https://www.productreview.com.au/reviews/76ec3cf4-98e7-56b0-9504-7fa7531820ce https://www.productreview.com.au/reviews/124e7cfa-9e1a-51fe-bdeb-58a207c4b996 https://www.productreview.com.au/reviews/d3c9a89e-d2e2-513b-99f2-6a5977899539 https://www.productreview.com.au/reviews/df2b4123-a46f-5561-8ded-66dbed829b3e https://www.productreview.com.au/reviews/43e28463-f075-587f-8d35-cdf8adfeb2c8 https://www.newtriton.net/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=560492&sid=979dc6e590d1e2214c7bd7d64c434cae#p561317 https://mitsubishiforum.com/forum/canada-over-seas-elsewhere-36/australia-triton-glx-my22-head-unit-problem-57424/
Warranty not honoured – On Tuesday 19th March 2024, I had to spend $1,932.00inc to replace a split intercooler hose on my 4.5 year old Triton. A receipt for the work and associated costs was provided to Mitsubishi Motors Australia Limited (MMAL). My car is still under warranty. The work required a DPF regeneration, smoke testing, a system chemical clean, a new… Read more
intercooler hose and an oil and filter change. The work was completed by a licenced, independent diesel mechanic and the work was required to be completed immediately as my vehicle could not be driven further. My local Mitsubishi dealer couldn't fit me in and I require my vehicle for work.
This work was NOT covered under warranty. The local dealership, Camden Valley Mitsubishi, supplied the hose and at the time they had 30 hoses in stock as this is a known issue with MQ and MR Tritons. The repairer who completed the work had a second Triton (MQ model) at his workshop at the same time as mine was there with the exact same fault.
I requested MMAL to reimburse me for the costs associated with this repair. An intercooler hose should not be considered a perishable item, especially after 4 years of limited use when the vehicle has been serviced and cared for correctly.
MMAL requested to see photos of the faulty part, which of course I did not have. MMAL have now refused to reimburse me ANY of the costs involved and in a dismissive email they have told me that they consider this case closed.
I have worked in a customer service and sales capacity for 30 years and have a thorough understanding of customer and manufacturer rights and responsibilities and levels of liabilities. The position of MMAL on this matter has been disgusting and they refuse to honour their manufacturer warranty.
Bit miffed – The car is pretty good, just had the head unit software updated hopefully that will be better as it was a total Pia. Just had the 30,000 service done and have been told the discs are warped , not covered by warranty, started pulsing at 24,000 , no towing , light town driving...was a bit taken aback , replaced my rodeo discs at 280,000 and they… Read more
were worn not warped. I said I might fit a set of better quality rotors , the girl said aftermarket rotors won't be covered by warranty, I just laughed. Sunshine coast Dealership As for the car, suspension is a bit stiff but fine with a little weight, drives well , good on fuel , very quiet on the highway, pretty happy , daily drive, roomy in the back, love the rear fan. Engine sound like a can full of marbles but only from the outside.
Nothing frightens a triton – I have own my MR Triton for 3 years and it still going strong. The bad parts, seat fabric quality isn't good, comfort is ok. Brakes rotors as small so the wear quickly. Throttle response is bad but is easily fixed with a Throttle controller. The good parts. Dependable vehicle. Good warranty. Easy to park in tight car parks. Good 4wd system.… Read more
Plenty of aftermarket accessories Available. Engine can be easily tuned for more power and torque, I had mine done by ultimate diesel tuning, it a different beast now. Best part is it cheap and reliable so you have lots more aftermarket options to add on without breaking the bank. Word of advice. If you going to lift it the fuel consumption and engine performance will be slightly affected. It can get to all low to medium grade 4wd tracks without a lift.
Rough idle Mitsubishi Triton 2022 – Bought new Mitsubishi Triton and have a rough idle at the traffic lights...only in drive and intermediately.. Feels like is going to stall.. Vehicle only had 100 kilometres on the clock when this started , now have 1500 and have it booked in for its first free service.. however looking at some other reviews I see this has also happened to other… Read more
Triton owners... I would like to know of outcomes.. ?? Did the dealer rectify problem ?? I feel as if I bought a new vehicle and that new car warranty means not much if they can't fix...
No complaints here. Great Ute and great price :) – Currently towing my 2.5t caravan with stock suspension. Does the job. Owned since new 2019and had no problems. Done 45,000 ks. Good pricing, unlike the dmax which is overpriced for what you get. Show details
Excellent Value – We put our Triton to mixed use. Pottering around town in Broome, trips away to Perth and elsewhere and camping in the Broome area with some mild 4 wheel driving. Very pleased. Done nearly 30000 km with no problems to report. Comfortable, safe and capable. Toyotas are good but the Triton represents much better value for the money. Show details
Great car and very affordable compared to its competition – Commuting and the occasional outing in the bush, the triton is my work vehicle and I love it. I used the car just about everyday and found the car easy to live with and generally good at every task I threw at it. Comfort is great, could sit in the car all day without an issue. The car rides well, even when empty. The Triton is surprisingly quick… Read more
for a diesel, my parents d-max feels sluggish in comparison. The engine is half as noisy as my parents D-max. Have received comments on how comfortable the rear seats are for adults. Apple car play as standard is great, I use it all the time for pod casts.
Things that could be improved: Touch display sometime plays up, have to restart the car to get it working properly again. Rear diff lock had to be checked under warranty after a warning light continually came on, simple fix. More powerful headlights required if you need to light up sides of road, full beams are quite narrow field.
