Ornamental kettle

Aspect 100006 (Scandi Titanium)

A stunning looking kettle, but lacks practical design and modern features that would make it a great kettle. It has no spout making pouring very awkward, the water kind of just spills out of a crack in the lid. It is difficult to fill, either through the crack in the top - and water pools on top of the concave lid, or by yanking the lid out first (which is a two handed operation) and resting the lid somewhere so you can use your free hand to operate the tap. That's very poor usability as I'm used to being able to operate a kettle with one hand. The window to view the water level is hidden behind the handle and is difficult to see, and it only contains two measurements "3 cups" and "5 cups", no millilitres or other cup levels - yikes! It is much louder than other decent kettles (when the water begins boiling), has no audible indicator of when it has finished boiling, and feels like older/cheaper technology than the price would suggest. You're really paying for a nice kitchen ornament, because if you really love a kettle, and need to use one frequently, the striking wood trim doesn't offset the lacklustre performance of this appliance. I based my purchase on the high rating on this website and I feel quite let down by that, I hope it breaks soon like a few have reported so I can go back to a Breville.

Beautiful. Loud. Boils water.

Aspect 100004 (Titanium)

The design makes a statement and the titanium and 'wood' looks fantastic!
It is kind of loud though. If you're looking for a kettle to make a quiet cuppa while the family sleeps then this probably isn't the one for you.
The base has a large surface area so it boils reasonably quickly.
The lid has a silicon seal and (while brand new at least) removing the lid is a two-handed affair. Replacing it is easy enough but does require a tiny bit of guess work to align it properly. The ring on top of the lid has plastic insulation so you can remove the lid straight after boiling. I find the absence of a hinge a bonus. I can rest easy knowing there's no complex plastic moving parts that will break 12 months after purchase.
The unit fits on to the base smoothly and securely and feels more sturdy than our previous kettle.
The water level window is behind the handle but can be viewed easily enough.
Some improvements I would like to see are:
1. An arrow or marker on the kettle itself to help align the lid when putting it back on (or a lid that doesn't have to face a certain direction).
2. Some how make it less noisy when in use.
3. I think a nice addition would be a little bell when it's done boiling and switches off but that's just my opinion :)
Overall I'm happy with it. Its our first kettle that costs more than $40 and we really only bought it for looks to go with our kitchen reno. It does its job (boils water) and although it was on sale, for this price it better last the distance!

Don't buy

Aspect 100004 (Titanium)

1. The lid can come off easily while pouring.
2. The outter shell and top part of the lid can be overheated, keep away from kids!
3. Pricy in terms of design and functionality.

Purchased in at eBay for $49.

Disappointed

Aspect 100005 (Scandi White)

I have had Morphy Richards Kettle before and very happy. I bought the scandi aspect online and even though not wrapped in the colour I will live with it.
But I find the lid with the ring is quite hard to get off and then to put back on exactly right.
Also I cant see how much water in is it, very dark and behind handle. Is this suppose to light up like other kettles? Also when you lift the kettle because it is quite heavy you think it has got water in it but that is only the kettle and it is actually empty. Really loved my last Morphy Richards kettle so disappointed in this one.

Purchased in at Myer Online Store for $84.

Cannot pour

Aspect 100015 (Cork Mint)

Due to the lack of spout, the only way to get a constant pour is to hold the kettle at a height (like one foot) above the vessel you are pouring into. Although it looks great, it’s the worst designed kettle I’ve ever used. Also very noisy

Purchased in for $120.

Love the kettle and love the look

Aspect 100005 (Scandi White)

This is best looking kettle i've owned and by far it's been working perfectly. I have the matching toaster and my kitchen is now complete! Definitely purchase Morphy Richards again.

Looks amazing and works great!!

Aspect 100005 (Scandi White)

Bought it with the Scandi toaster and they both look amazing. Boils water promptly and off switch kicks in immediately. The outside of the kettle stays at room temp when the water boils which makes it easy to handle. Finishing is great

Horrible.Looks good,that’s it

Aspect 100009 (Scandi Teal)

First kettle needed replacement after 1month due to leaks. Have put up with the second kettle for about 6 months & can no longer stand the noise. We are constantly boiling water and the noise when close to boiling is such that we need to leave the room to use the phone.
Off to Big W for a cheapie.

Purchased in at Harvey Norman for $129.

Good kettle

Aspect 100005 (Scandi White)

Better than my older cheapo kettles that's usually loud and plasticy. This looks incredible and works well. The only thing is that the kettle gets really hot on the outside.

Purchased in for $80.

Unable to pour

Aspect 100003 (White)

This kettle looks stylish and sophisticated but not very good for pouring hot water which sprays every where as you pour
Expensive for what it is and unsafe especially for the elderly

Purchased in for $79.

Simply a statement item in a kitchen

Aspect 100007 (Scandi Black)

It boils and is hard to determine kettle's water level behind handle but it not easy to handle and you need to careful not burn yourself because it needs to be a bigger spout. There is no safe way to fill it either and a steam engine is quieter than this. Sorry not a fan.

Great kettle but leaks

Aspect 100005 (Scandi White)

I got the Scandi White Kettle from Flybuys about one year ago. It’s such a lovely looking kettle that isn’t very loud which is a major bonus. The only issue is, when filling the kettle to the max line, it will leak water all over the bench. I feel this is very dangerous. We now can only put a small amount of water in the kettle to boil. If it wasn’t for the leaking, it’s would be a perfect kettle.

Disappointing

Aspect 100003 (White)

Kettle looks good but not functional. Very loud, noisy kettle which can be annoying when relaxing at home and catting to friends in the kitchen. There seems to be a design fault as great difficulty pouring water for a cuppa. I have purchased a lot of great Morphy Richards products in the past when I lived in the UK but would not recommend this kettle. Back to the drawing board.

looks great

Aspect 100002 (Black)

It looks great but thats about where it stops . Its noisy compared to most kettles of similar comparison. The pouring spout is terrible it pools in the lid as you pour and you seem to need both hands to pour a drink. I would never get one of these again there's better options out there, it has been relegated to the shed.

Hello there, My Morphy Richards kettle is making very loud noises when it begins to boil. Kind of like loud crackling noises. What could be causing this noise? Thank you. Rick

My morphy Richards kettle is just loud when boiling but doesn’t crackle

Morphy Richards

Hello Rick
Thank you for contacting us.
Rapid boil kettles are known to be louder, also the lower the water level in the kettle the noise of the water coming to the boiling point will resinate through the kettle. The metal expanding and contracting could also cause the crackling noise. However should the noise increase, please note that as part of the Glen Dimplex Australia group, the Morphy Richards range of electric product are sold with a 24 month ‘replacement only’ warranty in Australia. If your product is currently within this manufacturer’s warranty, please simply arrange return of your unit to your place of purchase along with your invoice/ proof of purchase to receive a replacement/refund. You may also wish to print this email advice and take with you in order to confirm the authorisation.
If you cannot locate your original receipt please contact your place of purchase, they may be able to issue you a duplicate receipt.

What have reviewers thought of the Morphy Richards Aspect Kettle so far?

The Morphy Richards Aspect Kettle divided reviewers. Those who left positive reviews particularly liked how the kettle looked, saying that it was aesthetically pleasing and looked great in their kitchen. They also praised the kettle’s ability to boil water quickly.

Reviewers who left negative feedback said that the kettle’s design let it down. They said that the lack of spout made pouring awkward, as water spilled rather than poured out of a crack in the lid. They also found it quite noisy, and louder than other kettles they had used.

The overall sentiment was that while the kettle was strikingly beautiful and did the job, it didn’t have the features that made it practical for frequent, everyday use.
