Adjuster wont work – Used once it twice a year for about 5 yrs ( I think!). I followed instructions about adjusting distance between grinder and plate, but it has fallen out and a special screwdriver needed to remove access plate. Worked well on dry wood while it lasted. Not very good with green wood and leaves. Cost of repair makes it uneconomical to fix. Won’t buy a Morrison again. Show details

Great piece of kit – Just acquired a second hand one from dissatisfied owner. Obvious from their issues that blade had worn or hadn't been adjusted. 3 minutes with an allen key following the instructions on the machine body and off to work we go mulching several trees for my elderly neighbour. Compares very favourably with my Bosch Silent mulcher which was twice the… Read more

price although the feeding did stall as the leafy end overloaded the Morrison which hadn't been an issue with the finger style opening on the Bosch. Anyone who has suffered through using a high speed impact electric shredder will appreciate the self feeding and ease of use with material well crushed ready to use on the garden.

Morrison 2400 Electric Quiet Shredder – I am extremely dissatisfied with the machine which I bought from Mitre10. The adjustment on the side is best described as pathetic. Soon after it was out of its warranty period, there was no adjustment left and all the machine would do was put dents into branches. I paid almost as much as the machine cost me to have it repaired. I've used it… Read more

for approximately 10 hours and there's no adjustment left on the wheel on the side so after lock-down is over, I'll have to take it back to the repair place. Everything else on the machine works except for that ridiculous adjustment on the side. Oh, and when I took it in for repair, they had to replace the blade which was worn way down. What a ridiculous design. Quite frankly, I regret buying the machine. Thank goodness they've been discontinued. I can't remember what it cost me so I've put a guestimate. I do remember that the repair on the thing cost $350.

I wish I had brought this machine first – I had a Super Swift 6.5hp chipper/ shredder for about 9 months and it was absolutely useless. Every thing that you put down the chute needed to be pushed all the way in. I got rid of that and got this Morrison, boy what a difference this has made to my occasional clean ups around my half acre section. Just to put in the cuttings and watch them… Read more

get grabbed by the roller is very satisfying when you see the bin full of chipped and chopped up cuttings of shrubs and branches. Before the chipper / shredder days all the cuttings went on the burning heap out here on the farm, but the fire restrictions stop that happening. So now the gardens are fed from all this and no mess to worry about. Well worth owning.

Pity – Not much point doing a review guys if the product has been discontinued. A shame really because the Morrison does a great job. It has exceeded my expectations. I have a small back garden but I am often pruning and trimming and the Morrison has helped keep the place looking nice and tidy.  Show details

Poor performance, unreliable – Worked well while it lasted maybe 10 to 15 hrs. Didn't like plumb tree branches and broke casing that roller blade crushed material against. Disappointing in that I only put in branches that would fit through guide. Morrison agent didn't think it was worth repairing i.e. Disposable rubbish Next time I will buy something more robust made of steel rather than cheap aluminum castings

Great little machine to recycle our garden waste! – I too bought one of these machines, not too noisy as we have now moved into town, don't wish to annoy neighbours, when I want to garden I want to do it now, not wait until the neighbourhood has awoken. Also cuts down expenses in getting rid of ones garden waste - into the compost or straight onto the gardens again

Does exactly what is says it will – Have just spent the weekend mulching a bottle brush and have to say what a superb machine. It may not be the flashiest looking but did not miss a beat and did mulch up to 40mm. An excellent purchase and i paid $299AUD

Great machine, but don't by the latests model – Retailers will convince you the latest version is great because it comes with its own bin. Wrong! You can buy a bin for $10. The bin will frustrate you every time you use the machine, it is absolutely a nuisance as it is vey hard to fit an remove it. By the previous version, much easier to operate, or buy an OZITO

Great machine – I've owned two of these machines now (the first was sold when we moved houses) and they are truly fantastic. I've put large palm fronds and hardwood branches through them and have had no problems whatsoever. They don't like mushy plants like cactus and succulents but otherwise they can't be faulted. The noise level is acceptable although the… Read more

labelling is a bit confusing - 91 dB on the machine and 85 dB in the book. My guess would be the book is closer to reality as it is way quieter than my mower which also has a 91 dB sticker on it. My first machine would have logged up about 100 hours in the three years I had it and it never failed, even after a full weekend mulching down the entire canopy of a large Blackbutt I had cut down. The new one hasn't done much work but seems even better than the original machine, based on the few hours it has been in action.

Brilliant Machine – I have just purchase a Morrison Electric Quite Shredder 2400w and found it brilliant. The unique cutting and crushing action just pulls the material down into it with no need to push it in. I spent the weekend hard pruning a large Bougainvillea Vine, which had some solid branches, trimming back Whiteywood trees and Punga Ferns, mulching the… Read more

whole lot apart from some Bougainvillea branches that were too big. Also mulched some Ponderosa Pine tree branches.

I ended up with 14 fish bins of mulch, so really happy with that.

If a branch has hard side branches they can catch at the mouth of the entry, so if they are not flexible enough for you to squeeze them closer to the main branch to get them through the mouth, you should snip them off first.

40mm branches were no problem for the powerful cutter and crusher. The section cut off is well and truly pulverised so that its decomposition will be that much faster. Watching those branches go thru and spat out can be likened to a Boy Racer listing to his throaty exhaust with a huge grin on his face; the power of this Shredder is so good.

The collection bag supplied with the machine was rather useless, far better to use a fish bin and off load it into a wool sack as you go.

With the thick end of the Punga Ferns I cut them off at the 40mm diameter point and then sliced them lengthways. They had too much moisture pithy material in them and would block up the cutter on their own but I found if they were feed in with a woody branch or two, they would go thru. The rest of the fern went thru OK, because there is not so much moist pithy material. Sometimes though the side leafy branches would bunch together and cause a problem so you need to snip a few off, to thin it out, and feed those offcuts in on their own.

Very skinny twigs did not always get cut if fed thru on their own. Need to put a bunch thru together. Sometimes I would just scoop the long stuff out of the fish bin and put it thru again. Need to keep an eye on the gap between the Cutting Plate and the Rotary Blade when mulching skinny twigs. I suspect that the cutting plate may move back a bit after putting large (40mm) branches thru. Very easy to adjust with the Allen key and sighting down thru the feeding mouth.

When I started looking for a shredder I tried one I located on Trade Me. It was a 2400w that had a rotating disc with cutters on it. I tried it out and found it hopeless, you had to push the material in all the time. The MEQS 2400w, being self feeding is far superior and a joy to use.

I note that others have written about cutting the dividers away form the outlet. My machine does not have any so looks like Morrison took those comments on board.

Muches like a trooper – This is for the previous model. Mulches gum tree and tree branches, mulches palm fronds (slowly). Slow process but just keeps on going. I will agree that it gets clogged on the output. However 30 seconds work with the pruners and the plastic dividers are gone. It has not clogged up since the dividers were removed (probably voided the warranty… Read more

though) and have filled a 240. l green bin every month for the past year.

For the price it has been worth it compared to a big petrol unit.

Small compact just needs to be plugeed in a works.

An old council recycling crate makes a great hopper to collect the mulching.

After many years of work provably the equivalent of over 100 wheelie bins full of shredding I cracked the casting probably mulching an old gum tree branch. (my fault) So it has now gone to the tip replaced by a petrol one as other have said the new one is crap. Reliable The grill on the output means it gets clogged up.

spare parts nearly impossible to get – Our shredder broke down 2 months out of warranty. Needed Parts. Switch,Overload Protection (Nil Available) Needed Capacitor (1 Available) Could only find 2 available service Centres In A.C.T. Obviously Company not interested in product if there is no backup in spares or service available. Went well for our needs when going. Very disappointed in… Read more

Morrison 2400 Electric quiet Shredder – Absolutely useless on anything green. It gets clogged up and the reverse mode meant to clear this is next to useless. The main problem is that it gets clogged in the exit which is divided into three holes. Twigs that are not properly chopped get caught across these not allowing the smaller bits to go through. I have several years experience using… Read more

an Al-Ko 1600 Shredder which worked very well on a range of thicknesses. It occasionally clogged up and needed to be unscrewed and the obstructing piece, usually a thick bit of wood, could be dislodged in under a minute. It took me over an hour today to do about a bucket full of green lillypilly branches and leaves with the Morrison. It's quiet and solidly constructed. Constantly gets clogged and is difficult to clear out from chute. Very slow to achieve much.
