Great Cot Great Price – Bought this cot on sale in white in August 2014. Looks great, easy to wipe clean, and very sturdy. Mine is beside a wall, so I have to pull it away from the wall when I change the sheets and haven't had any problems. I don't recall the varnish smell being too strong. I purchased a cot mattress to the dimensions specified and the small gap between the mattress was helpful. Once the waterproof mattress protector, quilt (to make the mattress surface more comfy since the mattress protector is stiff and makes a crinkling noise), fitted sheet, and sleeping blanket were all tucked in around the mattress, plus cot bumpers around the rails, it was snug. If there hadn't been a gap, I would've struggled to tuck all that stuff around.

Instructions were easy to follow, and assembly was simple -- can be done with 1 person. I keep a shoebox full of all the instructions from baby products I've purchased including this one, so when the time comes to lower the mattress height etc. I know where to look. My daughter is now 7.5 months old, and has been using it since birth.

Happy with my purchase, and recommend it.

Update 20/01/2020: Used this cot in the lowered position and later as the day bed until my daughter out grew it. Lasted a very long time, and was still in the good condition when I had to replace it.

Not what I'd hoped – I bought the Mothers Choice Orlando 2in1 Cot in Cappucino and was disappointed that the colour was way more red than the plain brown it looked in the pictures. Also it was way more shiny varnished than the semi matte/ plain wood looking finish in the pic. The varnish smelled strong when I opened it as well, which put me off a bit, and it doesn't seem very sturdy.

disappointed by the gaps – We've got out cot on sale. I didn't investigate much the market but based on the assumption that our previous experience with Mother's choice products was really good, we decided to go for this cot. We purchased the mattress as per instructions 130x69cm and unfortunately there is quite a big gap between the bars and the mattress of around 3-4cm). I have tried at least 4 different companies which produce mattresses in this dimensions. I will need to put something in between (on the side of the wall) once our baby starts standing to prevent him from trapping his legs in this gap. Besides that the cot looks good, is stylish and I love the teething rails . teething rails, looks good, affordable the gap between the cot and the mattress

Great cot – I bought this cot for my daughter about a year ago and absolutely love it, she does too. I am due to have another baby in a month and decided to buy the same cot again because I loved it so much but after assembling have discovered it is now completely depifferent. The timber doesn't feel as sturdy, there are no teething rails anymore and there are less bars/slats on the side leaving a bigger gap in between each one. And the prices exactly the same as the old one. While I am happy with the older one I am not happy with the new one.

Hi John, sorry to hear you are disappointed with our product. Although you have purchased your first cot a year ago, we stopped producing cots with teething rails around 5 years ago due to bacteria building up under the plastic teething rail. The new model is made from solid timber and does comply with current Australian Standards. Hope this answers some of your questions?

Nice, sturdy, very easy to operate - but very unsafe – The unit is almost a perfect choice for people on budget for its strong construction with round and smooth on all edges. The bad is the instruction to lower the mattress as soon as the baby can sit up is under the mattress. My nine months old baby fell off from the height and spent a night in hospital emergency department for observation. I inspected the cot safety the very next day and on the removal of the mattress I saw the instruction. I kind of remember this instruction when doing the installation 9 months ago but was completely forgot about it until now. I could be at fault for not remember things, but would I or my wife know better if this cot was installed by someone else says grandpa, uncle, etc.? Low budget with strong construction. Nice and clean design with round and smooth edges for safety. Safety warnings should be more "up the face" rather than placing under the mattress.

We are very sorry to hear that your baby fell out of the cot, but are very glad to hear your baby is okay and appreciate you getting in contact with us to let us know what happened. Dorel Australia ensures that all of its products are tested to meet Australian Standards and please be assured that your cot has been successfully tested. To prevent falls, the mattress base of this cot should be adjusted to the lowest position before the child can sit up. Also make sure you always read the user manual carefully before assembly and use.
