Extra iodine is not bad for you! – This product seems to work well so far. Just to clear up some confusion... Iodine is the ultimate healing trace minerals for Cysts, Thyroid, PCOD and more. The RDA for iodine in the western diet is very low - only 150 micrograms of iodine. However, in Asian countries such as Japan, where 100 x's the amount of iodine is consumed (through their diet of seaweed/sea kelp, oysters, fish, etc.) they have a lot less thyroid problems, breast cancer, cysts, ovarian and prostate problems than those in the west. If you have a thyroid problem, high estrogen, uterine fibroids, etc. then a doctor who has studied nutrition may ask you to increase you iodine levels - this is going to help you not hurt you! To repeat, the iodine levels recommended in the west are set very low at 150 micrograms when it is apparent in eastern cultures that an increase in iodine is extremely beneficial to their health. If you want to learn more then look up this title on YouTube "Iodine, the Ultimate Healing Trace Minerals for Cysts, Thyroid, PCOD and more"

A warning should be included on the label! – In ignorance, I thought I would take these as "kelp" must be good for you right? I have taken these for a couple of years or more, along with a multivitamin and other supplements. I have just found out that there are lots of warnings online (from many trusted sites) about taking too much Iodine - especially when you are not deficient. It seems pretty clear that it is not advisable to take more than the recognized recommended daily amount which is 150 mcg. The label on this bottle says that the 1000g Kelp in each tablet is equivalent to 240mcg! Way more than the RDA! I have also discovered I am already taking 150mcg Iodine in the Multivitamin I am taking! Why isn't the Iodine RDA printed on this label with a warning. Taking too much iodine can harm your thyroid! I am ashamed that an Australian product like this does not include a warning about the dangers of too much Iodine!

OK – This seems to be a good supplement that does what it says it does. I have been taking it for a while, but who knows whether it has an effect, as I am young and maintly healthy anyway, and not suffering from any specific condition from which I can observe results of ingesting this product. Nature's own don't share much info with their customers on their products, so it takes a bit of faith to take this product. This stuff is very cheap.

I like it because I like kelp. Is has about the same amount of vitamin c as oranges, is high in b group vitamins, particularly b12. Many websites, and even Womens' Health Australia say that b12 can only be aquired through meat. Hogwash. Kelp is a good supplement for vegetarians, as it is a rare non-animal food source that has a LOT of b12.

It also has vitamin D, good in the winter months when you are not getting much sun. I can't believe all this is not mentioned on the packaging of this product. Perhaps it is too standardised and processed to contain them? I was unable to find any of this information on their website. See more on that in con.

However, making the leap of faith that this is still perfectly intact kelp, all the avobe should apply. Very difficult tablet to swallow- I always swalow it first of all my supplements so that the others drive it down.

The nature's own website is not transparent about the supplements- in fact there is no point using it becuase it contains the exact same information that is on all its packaging.

Not only does kelp contain vitamins, it also provides over 50 trace minerals and elements, all necessary for optimum bodily function. Too many people are led to believe that good health is as "cut & dried" as just taking one or two vitamins when in actual fact it's more complicated as the body requires a whole raft of different nutrients and in a proper balance to stay healthy. The only problem is the kelp it's made from comes from Europe, the seas being heavily polluted, not like our nice, clean Australian kelp.
