Easy set up and pairing. A phone with the app is essential to use this GPS, which is inconvenient and user unfriendly. App is clunky, looks unoptimised; some buttons overlay others and don't work. Getting back to the main screen after pressing the dash cam is impossible and you have to close and reopen the app. We are 1.5 hours into the trip and… Read more

after taking a wrong road, the app did not correct or notify us. Not sure I'd recommend this for the price. Needs a lot of attention and minor fixes to get even the basics down pat.

Had tech issues after 18 months but these were resolved satisfactorily by NAVMAN. GPS isn’t that user friendly – NAVMAN MICAM GPS We had some charging issues but after sending them back for repair and a second follow-up, these were eventually resolved. As a GPS it isn’t that user-friendly. Sometimes, unless you enter the perfect address it fails to find what you’re after. And sometimes, even with the perfect address, it still cannot find where you’re… Read more

going, especially outside a capital city.

The shown speed limits aren’t always reliable - for example, Sutton Road (NSW) is an 80 zone but the GPS says it’s 100, which could lead to speeding tickets.

It sometimes wants to take you via the longest route possible! I would often ignore where it was telling me to go because on a long drive, it could be 50-100km longer to take the GPS route!

As a dashcam, however, it takes good clear footage.

I hope my next DashCam has voice recognition to enter addresses.

Extremely Difficult to Use, Constantly Crashes when in use – We use the MiCam Truck Variant 1. 95% of the time, it will not automatically connect to the phone/gps unit making it a 5 minute job just to re-pair to make it work. 2. When you go under powerline's throughout towns (Adelaide for example), the GPS unit will crash and restart, it will not continue the route you were on, This happens often but… Read more

almost always under major powerline's.

3. Dashcam will crash and restart making the gps turn to the dashcam screen.

4. The unit will clog up the internal memory with old incident reports and old routes, so it cannot download and install new maps/software updates without first connecting it to a computer and manually finding each file and deleting it, the Nav Desk program has never worked so we have had to do this.

5. In order to update you have to connect it to a wifi, it would be much easier if the navman MiVuePro app had the function of doing the GPS updates through your phone, rather than connecting it to a wifi and downloading from the gps, when the gps internal memory is full and has to be deleted on a computer.

6. The B-Double Routes need to have 36.5m and 53.5m road train routes included so we can have the correct combinations on the correct roads.

7. I have trailed this for the last 12 months, I do use this on a daily basis, i typically leave it on silent in the background to double check the speed limits on the roads, or i will use it on roads i haven't traveled before for the bridge height limits, i would however never buy another one as it is so difficult to use as intended.

8. The route selection is also dodgy, it can send you down side roads when the main road is perfectly fine.

Unless you are a wiz with computers/programs and have the patience to make it work every time, i would not recommend this product.

Excellent BUT! – The product produced is in line with the tag of excellent but do not be fooled by this comment the real problem lies in its use and that is it has been as I am told by the company only good for cars which by the way you do not see in their descriptions. The rest of the system would seem to be very well thought out . Show details

Can't delete previous destinations - Navman MiCam Explore 7" – Whilst this is generally a good quality GPS with dash cam, one very annoying feature is that previous destinations can not be deleted unless a "factory reset" is performed. For a company which boasts it has advanced technologies and peace of mind, this simple task of deleting unwanted destinations seems to be too difficult for them to resolve. Aldo Show details

Traffic alert mistakes – The voice drives me mad, continually telling me to slow down. Thing is, I'm not speeding, sign says 60, I'm doing 60, it says slow down. Alerts like merging traffic ahead happen late, so are useless. Very annoying little faults. Navman are not the quality they were once known for. Buy something else. Show details

It’s dash cam, not gps -> GPS works with companion App – 99% of addresses you input return Zero result. It can only be used as Dashcam. Definitely not worth the money. Update: Navman sent a user guide to me. The issue can be resolved by pairing with NAVMAN Companion App on the phone. It's not very convenient as you cannot search addresses directly on the device itself. Hopefully it can be improved in the future software versions. Rate is changed to 3 stars as it partially solved my issues. Show details

Could be great, but fails in major areas – Though this was a gift, for the money this thing costs it should be better than it is. The camera is good, very good, excellent high resolution and I'll give top marks for that. But, in every other area this thing is a failure. The software is so buggy it becomes unusable. The maps are flat out wrong for one thing. It says there's a railway… Read more

crossing when there's not one to be found literally anywhere. It freezes, it crashes, it doesn't start recording, it attempts to make phone calls by itself even after you've disabled bluetooth. The app for Android is hopeless and the Mivue software for downloading and viewing the dashcam footage is bad, too. It's clunky, buggy and looks like it was built in Visual Basic fifteen years ago. I used this for seven months before I'd had enough of it.

ITS NICE BUT CAN BE BETTER – I got my Red P for a while now and bought this for my Mitsubishi Outlander. It is a great Dashcam and Gps combo and the manufacturer put a lot of thought into it. Here are the best features: 1. It will give speed limit alerts for going even 1 km/hr over in most cases which is excellent for me, I am a P1 driver and that is what I exactly want. I… Read more

don't want any speeding record. 2. The Dashcam is excellent, I have a 128 Gb Sandisk Endurance and it works great. 3. I have a free USB port from the packaged charger which is great. An extra charger was also included and it's a bonus. 4. The suction cup is very sturdy and is easy and comfortable to handle. The dashcam can be put in the suction holder magnetically and its very easy to put in and out. 5. The device has bluetooth and wifi which as a Provisional driver I can't use but I do have the Navman Micam Pro app to get road alerts at the beginning of my trip. After I connect the dashcam and my phone for a while (it's automatic when car starts), I turn off bluetooth so that I don't break the law (NSW). It has a few problems. 6. I have a beaten up old car so I just put the wires in place using BlueTack

Now the CONS: 1. Map updates are terrible, like the manufacturer forgot about us. The section after I turn from Princess Highway//Berry St to M1//Warringah Freeway is 60km/hr all the way until the 80 km/hr zone arrives. However this has incorrectly showed as 80km/hr for long. I want a map update so that I don't loose my license if I depend on the app.

2. I cannot by law (P1 driver) use my phone's MiVue Pro app to get calls and notifications on the GPS but I can legally update route events at the start of my trip and then turn my bluetooth off. The device doesn't like me turning bluetooth off and I have no idea or notifications if the temporary rount events passed through my phone to the gps or not.

3. (This is the worst)... you connect the phone and the app just one time and it will remember the repairwork near harbour bridge foreverrrrr!!! No mate it's finished already and its not a 40km/hr zone, its a 70 and the wrong speed limit warning scares me.

4. While having visible alerts (like going downhill), I can also get "speed limit exceeded" audible alert but can't see the speed limit on the screen. Similar thing happens when any visible alert appears, no way to see the speed limit.

5. It doesn't show many places on map so I have to manually google maps search for nearby existing places. one example is 7 Harverst St, Macquarie Park, NSW. good luck fnding that on the gps.

Tl,DR; need updated maps, device is cool

Upgraded (?) from an MY690LMMT – I was offered a trade-in for my MY690LMMT and thought that the addition of a dashcam may be useful. I have owned several Navman GPS units and been very happy with them. I was very disappointed when I tried to use the navigation features of the Micam as it is nowhere near as good as the 690. If I try to put in an address it can never find it. I… Read more

then found that you needed a smartphone to look up an address and send it to the device via bluetooth. I managed to send my destination to the device but then kept getting warnings every few seconds to slow down as I was 1or 2 km.h over the speed limit and there was no way to turn it off or set a tolerance level. Cancelling a route is also not simple and I have found that the iphone app is also pretty useless - nowhere near the control that I had with my 690 and a far smaller screen. Maybe the value is in the dashcam which I really didn't want as the only reason I "upgraded" was to be able to continue to get regular map updates which had ceased on my other unit. Be careful before you buy this unit if you are looking for an easy to use navigation unit as you will need a smart phone to operate it and a lot of patience.

Super lacking of everything – Very easy install and I bought it because it has a dashcam included, which is in theory really cool. The navigation features seem to be extremely pared down, however. has lane assist and verbal instructions, which mine doesn't. It also turns off randomly all the time. I bought mine at Costco and I have a suspicion I've been sold a discount version under the same brand name. Staying far away from Navman from here on.

I also need to mention that I do have image version 5.5, as I see navman support reply with downloading that as a solution.

Requires Phone For Live Traffic – I was excited to upgrade my 15 year old Navman to this one - just to realize I actually preferred my old one. The main reason I purchased it was because it said that it shows live traffic information - as I regularly travel 1-1.5 hours to work, I thought this would be a lifesaver as I could work out where accidents were before I got there and thus… Read more

detour around them. Unfortunately this functionality requires a phone and the VicRoads website says "Learner, P1 and P2 drivers must NOT use a mobile phone (hand-held/hands-free/with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto) for any function while driving". So I guess I can't use that - plus if I was fully licensed and thus allowed to use a phone, wouldn't that defeat the purpose of a GPS? I would just buy a phone holder and use that instead as Google Maps is far superior to a Navman. The reason I say this is actually worse than my old one is that whenever I hit the speed limit (not exceed it) - it says "speed limit exceeded, please slow down". My old Navman just used to beep when I exceeded the speed limit by a couple KM's and thus was far less distracting. I will be returning this product.
