A great compromise – Soo… I have used my Nectre heating / oven stove for two years. It is situated in my house come thingy ( so comfortable) that I now live in. I am experienced with wood combustion cooking stoves and have owned two aga stoves. I know that dry wood is the key to success. The bakers oven is a duel purpose stove and is a compromise. A good one. AGA… Read more ·  1

stoves are amazing but the Nectre is a fraction of the price. The AGA is designed for cooking only, the Nectre is a heater as well. It fulfills its duel task well.

The Nectre is not an easy stove to cook a soufflé on. However I have cooked roasts, stews, omelette, scones, amazing pizza, great baked veggies and countless cups of tea. The stove heats what was a large three tractor shed easily. That said, if you stand in front of the heater to stir your porridge expect a warm front end. So it’s not a chefs stove but it it amazingly good for the price and with practice and patience ( and dry wood) you can cook almost anything. It is Australian, and as such it is practical, well designed, no frills and efficient. Well done Nectre.

Beaut Bakers Oven – We have had our Bakers Oven for about 16 years. We are looking to buy another for another house and I've been looking at the market and reading reviews. We cannot fault the Bakers Oven. It has been an outstanding acquisition for our home. We burn predominately mallee foot wood and stumps and in winter, in the morning, we stir the coals and can… Read more ·  1

keep it burning for days. Cooking is easy, on top and in the oven. It is brilliant. We replaced the flue after 10 years and it was still in good condition. Parts are readily available and being Australian made works for us. We think we will purchase a Big boy next with a water jacket.

LOVE THE NECTRE OVEN – We have had our NECTRE Bakers oven for over ten years and I still LOVE it. Smaller oven took me a while to adapt to, but adapt I have. And as long as you clean it regularly especially under the oven, it works a treat. Shame laws make it illegal to make wood fires that close completely but one can adapt to this also. Having read many of the… Read more ·  1

reviews I feel sorry for the NECTRE company as it is clear that a lot of people know nothing about operating a wood fire efficiently, and having the ideal wood to burn ….

Just can't keep the house warm, or overnight – We have the BIG version, and it simply has never kept the house adequately warm (even though our house is only 130sqm). Burning overnight is nigh impossible also, so every winter morning for the past ~7 years we wake up to a house averaging 10C... the past few years, been unable to even use the oven because the house fills with smoke - Nectre… Read more

blamed me, citing poor quality wood, not the case at all. Spent days looking for a blockage but can't find one.

Finally given up and now looking for a new wood heater like our old Saxon, which did the job perfectly fine, albeit without an oven.

It's the Heart of Our Home in Winter – I can't believe I've taken so long to review this wonderful addition to our home. The Nectre Bakers Oven is a marvel. We purchased it back in 2013 and have loved it ever since. It's made by an Australian company and that just makes it better all round. Who says Australia doesn't make things, we certainly do have companies that do and they do it… Read more ·  1

well. Nectre stands for Natural Energy Centre. It is a wood stove with an oven and cooktop and the option to add a hot water jacket for a hot water system, which we did. Our stove goes throughout winter on those colder days and I take the opportunity to make hearty stews and chicken and beef stocks that just simmer on the edge and slow cook to perfection. It's lovely having our kettle sitting on the edge gently steaming so a hot cuppa is instantly available at any time. We've never had any trouble with it and it really gives our home that toasty warmth during winter. We are farming people and it's wonderful to come inside from doing chores and be instantly warm. We love it. So here's to free heat, free cooking and free hot water and buying Australian Made. Works for us.

Small – Not a bad little wood heater, but that's the thing, it's little. You can only cut wood up to 10/11" long, the heat output isn't the greatest, there is a gap right around the door letting air in so burns quite fast, lucky if we shut it down as best we can it will only burn from 4-5 hours, so getting up to a cold house every morning.
