Mostly good, but with some compromises – We installed an N60 to replace a very old Kent. We were drawn to the compact and modern design and the high efficiency rating. Having now had the fire for two winters I would agree with the other reviewer that the design does not seem conducive to good draw. The installer removed the top baffle upon installation and noted that they almost always… Read more · 1
do this with this model. Even with a very hot fire, some smoke will often escape. Having said that, we find the first incredibly efficient. A large piece of red gum will easily still be going the next morning. And there is very little visible smoke from the chimney most of the time indicating a good secondary gas burn. So all in all, some pros and cons for this fire. We’ve learnt to live with the draw issue and are choosing to focus on the benefits.
Poor design – This heater was in our house when we bought it. Previous owners paid $5000 for it. Looks very stylish but...draws very poorly, I have to leave the door open to get it going, smoke fills the room, even dry kindling will not catch easily. If I spend money on cleaning will it make any difference? It might be good money after bad. Show details
Expensive rubbish – Poor heat output. Eats wood Poor design Firebox is too small Poorly designed door drags ash and coals out when it opened Air inlet is too high and away from the base of the fire It’s not fit for purpose in so many ways and should not be sold Unsafe Useless If it hadn’t cost so much it would be out tomorrow. Very disappointed with Nectre. Nectre did not reply to my email enquiry about this heater! Show details
Amazingly efficient – This attractive, contemporary designed AUSTRALIAN product is beautiful and brilliant! EPA emissions limits are anything under 2.5mgs/kg and one of the chief reasons we chose this product was that it comes in at 0.6mgs/kg, (!) which was very important to us. It’s amazingly efficient too and actually I think we’ve probably burnt 1/4 of the volume of… Read more · 4
wood we burnt with our old woodburner last year. Because it’s heavy duty cast iron it holds the heat beautifully - it’s heavy at 190kgs but was easy to install, by one guy (& a heavy duty trolley). The Scandinavian burners used to be tops when I was looking years ago, but now this Aussie woodburner beats them on emissions & efficiency with comparable pricing. We’ve had our coldest winter for several years and we’ve been SO glad we decided on this model.
