Update 30 March 2026: I received and email from a Nexen representative this morning to inform me that the matter will be further investigated and brought to the attention of Nexen Head Office. I believe this is a positive step in the right direction, now we wait and see. Review 29 March 2026: This review is for the Nexen Roadian GTX tyres,… Read more

factory fitted when we bought our car new in September 2023.

My wife and I are the owners of a 2023 Hyundai 2.0L TD Tucson Highlander (excellent car), which we bought new in September 2023, factory fitted with Nexen 235/55/R19 Roadian GTX tyres.

Our normal driving pattern is on average: 15,000kms annually, the car gets serviced at its recommended intervals, every 15,000kms, pressure on all four driving tyres and spare tyre gets checked weekly ensure that the in car reading of the tyre pressure is as per recommendation of Hyundai - both in car and pump station readings are equal.

We planned a road trip to WA from the third week of February to end of March 2026, and were very excited to go on this trip. 26 February 2026, the car was loaded with our luggage and as per normal I went to the EG petrol station to inflate the tyres a bit more as per recommendation as our car was carrying more weight than normal, which is normally only my wife and I, a wheelchair for my wife and some shopping. Upon inflating the left front tyre I noticed something sticking out from the surface of the tyre, looking into it I was shocked to see that the tyre was chipped across the surface…all the way around. I immediately checked the other three tyres only to find the same thing - see attached photos! All four tyres were chipped, which I have never seen in my life and I have been driving for over 48 years!

I called Hyundai Service Department but was told that there is no warranty on tyres and had to take it up with Nexen. Following this phone calI, I went straight to a few tyre dealers in Gympie as we had to leave for our road trip the next day, no one had four new tyres in stock, they were able to order but that would mean a two day delay, while we had already paid for accommodation along the route we would drive. What was more frightening was that each and everyone of them had never ever seen anything like this! To cut the story short, I found Jax Tyres in Noosaville to have four brand-new tyres, different brand than Nexen, that they could fit earliest the next day, Friday, at 08:00am. Hence we made the appointment and around 09:45am we drove away from Jax Tyres Noosaville (thank you for the excellent service Jax) with four brand-new tyres NOT Nexen and $1345 less in our pocket.

Unfortunately we never made it to WA due to the flooding situation in NSW and SA outback, after being stuck in Broken Hill (unscheduled) for a few days there was a small window that the road back was opened, so we decided to go home again, we spent a lot of unnecessary funds in the meantime.

The Nexen Roadian GTX is advertised as a Premium SUV and CrossOver All-Season Tyre see attached photos. All four of our tyres were a danger to drive on even after driven only 37000 highways kms since new. The only exception, the spare tyre which has never been used it therefore looks and is absolutely brand spanking new. On the 19 March 2026, I wrote an email to Nexen (heungah5@nexentire.com) expressing my disappointment regarding the quality of their product but now 10 days later I still haven't heard a word of Nexen! I have sent another email to Nexen (logistics@nexentire.com.au) as a follow up, today 29 March 2026, and will update this review when/if I receive a response.

Conclusion: NOT impressed with the quality of the Nexen Roadian GTX tyres. NOT impressed with their customer services, as it stands for now. Will I recommend these tyres - absolutely NOT! On the previous cars we purchased from the same dealer (three in total before this one) we never had any problems with the factory chosen tyres but then again they weren't Nexen's.

2023 Hyundai Tucson, purchased in Dec 2023, had these tyres as default equipment. Having just recorded 27,000km, the tyres, Nexen Roadian GTX (235/60R13 103H) are needing to be replaced. All four tyres are exhibiting abnormal wear of flaking of the rubber tread. Have contacting Hyundai and awaiting response (will update this with status of… Read more

discussion) but I would avoid these tyres if possible.

Car is used for general transportation on street / highway and has never been offroad. Tyres rotated at each service and air pressure checked and managed monthly.
