Upgraded my old Blackvue to the Nextbase 622GW with Rear Camera and Hardwire Kit from Autobarn. I'm very happy with my purchase thus far. The mounting system was great and really easy to install. The mount sticks to the window with a 3M sticker and the Dashcam attaches by magnet. So I was able to install the power cable to the mount before adding… Read more
the Dashcam.
The device is actually a little smaller than my old Blackvue, and the mount is much neater, and I have the bonus of a touch screen. I like how you can see that it's actually recording, and I also use the screen/rear camera as a reversing camera.
Image quality seems on bar. They say it has Extreme weather recording, enhanced night vision and image stabilization. But too my old eyes it looks really clear but hard to say if it's much better. But the license plates are much clearer.
Have had this dash camera for over 3 years now and it has never let me down. Show details
I cant believe these shill reviewers give this dash cam good reviews. Its impossible to connect to the app, its image quality is incredibly bad, says 4k or 2k but in reality you will be lucky if it records in 1080p most of the time and if the rear cam is plugged in you be lucky to get 720p and 480p in the back. Mine had a faulty battery and would… Read more
not charge so I returned it. Customer service are not good, I accidently bought an SD card from their site, then realised I didn't need it, cancelled the order one hour after making it on a Saturday night, I sent 3 email explaining I wanted to cancel and why. They don't even work on the weekend so had plenty on time to cancel, yet they sent the card anyway . The device gets very hot as well. The only positive I can give is that the screen is nice and set up is easy, but if the image is bad the device it useless, I reviewed hours of footage and could not make out a single number plate, even car just metre in front you cant see the plate with the blur and grainy image.
One star because I couldn’t give none. Nextbase products are beyond trash. Difficult to use. Difficult to navigate. Difficult to download. Mine had a hardware crash and support insulted my integrity by blaming “wear and tear”. The camera is stuck to a window, what wear and tear. Absolutely no accountability for this rubbish project. DO NOT PURCHASE!!! Show details
Further to my review in Dec 2024 about a NEXTBASE 622gw, I remain disappointed with the company. Yes I acknowledge it was out of guarantee. However in Feb 2025 I wrote a polite letter (snail mail) to the company manager and to date April 21 2025 have not received a reply. Further comment (Jan 2026) – I also use a Nextbase 522gw. The dashcam… Read more
has the mounting at one end of the unit causing the weight distribution to be uneven – the dashcam becomes unlevel. In my case I have had to reconfigure/reglue the mounting method using strong hook and loop tape. Even then, the uneven weight distribution causes it to sag down on one side. The camera takes quite a good recording but the mounting is obviously disappointing.
shame on you – next base I hope you read this well, I bought the 622gw and as soon as the warranty ran out the camera stopped working and I was signed up to the Sos and I when I tried to cancel the the Sos subscription i could not. I got InTouch, but they said unsubscribe with app but how am I supposed to do that when the camera stopped working I got InTouch… Read more
via email, and they said it stopped? but money kept coming out of my account and I warned you I will get InTouch with my bank and I did..........the moral of the story for your folks out there be very careful its very hard to unsubscribe from the Sos they will keep taking money out of my account NextBase if anyone send an email to unsubscribe from something you need to comply shame on you
Beware of what you are buying! – I was probably one of the 1st users of not one, but two of this dashcam in Australia and had many issues with it from the beginning, but the biggest problem just happened recently where I had an accident and seriously required footage for insurance claims. To my biggest surprise and mental turmoil the dashcam had not recorded any footage of the… Read more
scene for going into parking mode while I was waiting with engine running at traffic lights which then needs a decent jolt or moving fair distance to start recording again. This is a major design fault as camera should be able to sense higher charging voltage while the engine running to hold it from going into parking mode like what happened in my case. The company stupidly kept blaming not formatting memory card or not using their brand of SD card for the fault which definitely was not the case. I could not have proof of my case and obviously company did not accept any responsibility at least to to fix the issue and I lost my insurance claim for lack of evidence! Definitely not worth the price tag and definitely not a trustworthy device in your accidents. Just a hyped piece of a garbage toy!! Also the unbuilt battery is a low quality one and is not going to hold any chage after 6 months of use. If anyone gets any lock with saving an important footage onto their phone using the inbuilt wifi let me know. Again dumb engineering: the device goes into sleep mode while awaiting to complete a wifi file transfer which takes more than just a couple of minutes. Maybe it us also SD CARD Problem AS WELL, haha.....
Addendum January 26: well I was in car with another accident with this camera, and once again it failed to record the scene!!! The reason: It got thrown out of its magnetic holder with the jolt of accidents, and having a failed battery which only lasts 2-3 months at most prior to not holding any charge whatsoever, it failed to keep the footage related to the accident. Such a piece of cr#p... . You just feel so blackmailed by this company... they should call it a joke-cam or rip-off cam rather than dash-cam...
Do not buy a Nextbase dash cam – I got my Nextbase 622GW less than two years ago. All of a sudden, the dash cam keep asking me to setup the date and time, every morning. When I contacted Nextbase, they asked me to do some tests. Once I sent the test results to them, they acknowleged that the dash cam may need the internal battery replaced. Being in Australia, they have no service… Read more
centres. The person I dealt with is very polite and helpful. She sent me the details about a new replacement battery and details instructions on how to replace the battery. The bottom line is, I don't have the tools to open and unplug the extremely minute connections. When I paid over AU$600, which is far more than other dash cams, I expected my dash cam to last more than two years. Please do not buy this dash cam. If something goes wrong, your on your own!!
Mounting tape not built for Australian climate but good customer service – I purchased 2 x dash cams for Christmas presents Dec 2022, one for me and one for my wife. The positive - The customer service is pretty responsive and helpful - The technology in the camera is good - Camera record quality good - Camera build quality good The not so positive - In 6 days I went through 4 mounting bracket (2 x supplied with each… Read more
dash cam) on two different cars. This was due to the mounting tape used not holding up to the AU climate. Unfortunately, the dropping onto the dash resulted in both cameras getting some light scratches. :-( not a good start to our Christmas present. Funny initial advise given was not to mount the camera on the windscreen my response with an LOL was "Dear Nextbase, I am sure if I mounted in the shade of the glovebox or a side window it would stay mounted but the picture quality of road events occurring in front of me might be somewhat reduced". The fix so far, has been to buy some gorilla tape from bunnings and use that instead and mount the camera at the bottom of the windscreen not behind the rear-view mirror as recommended. - What really peed me off was the requirement for special SD card, as always proprietary SD cards recommended. Annoying because I have crap tons of large SD cards, but this needs a special twice the price card. - Phone client crap, like other dash cams I have owned once again the software is lacking in features - For what seems to be the going price for these units at time of reviewing $550 - $730 AUD it is about 30% overpriced.
Consider your parking needs first, pricey and poor service from nextbase – The cam works and will no doubt help showing who is fault in an accident but that is all. It requires a nextbase SD card which is ridiculously pricey. You can try another brand with same specs but google it and it appears these cards can fail so you really need the nextbase sd. Slimline number plates are difficult to read on oncoming cars when… Read more
above 60kph. Not a big issue but it would be if you get a small sideswipe and the car does a runner. I also have the rear camera and it is worse. The unit gets quite hot in summer which is a concern. It has to be hardwired if you want parking mode. Thankfully I have private property parking at work and home so not a big issue but if you work where you park in a public parking lot or park on street at home this is not for you unless hard wired. Also the parking mode activation is not to clear on how it works. Connection to phone is terrible.and only.works sometimes. Far better off to remove and and download footage to PC Finally the poor service. The adhesive pad that attaches to windscreen has a plastic backing. The GPS unit clips to the plastic backing, then the camera attaches to the GPS. After 7 months the plastic backing detached from the adhesive pad. The adhesive pad was still well attached to windscreen. I noticed the plastic backing had a small s shape squiggle of glue attaching it to the adhesive pad where it detached (see picture). You get a spare but no doubt it will fail too. I contacted nextbase and only got a ticket number. For the price of this unit I don't believe it's worth it and it's poor quality. Yes it will help in an accident and it has had no issues with cutting out but I'm sure there are better ones out there. Edit. Nextbase finally sent me an email admitting there was a faulty batch of adhesive pads and offered a replacement upon proof of purchase and address. I sent this, no response then eventually an automated email from them assuming the issue had been resolved. It stated to reply if not resolved and again, no response. I give up on them and if this current pad fails I'll glue it myself as I'm not prepared to purchase more after they admitted they had a faulty batch
it has its quirks ! – so i bought this thinking at last 4k video recording with stabilization built in, yes it works... but the 4k in my opinion is only good enough for town driving not so good on hiway usage. to start off with this product only offers stick on bases and no suction mount, which i found out you have to buy seperately at a rather stupid cost and then you… Read more
have to specify gps mount or non gps mount as the gps module is not intergrated into the internal workings of the dashcam. rather stupid idea !! to connect the dash cam to the downloadable nextbase app is next to impossable, and dont even try to run alexa on it, i mean just dont try, seriously. while the footage at 4k is decent enough at low speeds i found that running the camera at 1440p 60fps gives much better results at hiway speeds oh and dont try to turn on stabilization at 1440p it only works on the 4k setting, now heres a stupid feature if you want to download content from the sd card via wifi to your nextbase app you have to have the recording settings set to dual record, meaning 2 video files one is high quality and one low quality why its like this god only knows..so the 128 gig card i use doesnt last long in this setting. so i dont use the app its just a waste of time. on the plus side the footage im getting at 1440p 60fps is some of the best ive seen, number plates are clear, when you pause the clip its crystal clear. this unit is very pricey and to say its top of the market i would strongly disagree, however as i have forked out the money i will continue using it. if you want the nextbase 622gw i suggest getting the lower model that does the 1440p,i wish i had .
Failed after 2 days – Bought with click in rear camera. Failed after 2 days. Returned for a full refund. I tried to call the help linw which is uk based. i doubt this is a good product for Australia Show details
A (rather expensive) waste of money – Very expensive, but as low tech as it gets. This dashcam COULD be great - but it's not. It sells itself on a promise of desirable features that simply do not work. Onboard Alexa: does not work. Wifi connectivity: works very occasionally and then stops. Video recording: intermittent - if you need a recording for evidence it's a lucky dip, it may… Read more
have recorded it but most likely not. Battery: literally lasts 5 minutes so parking mode is useless. Don't be fooled by the price tag, the MyNextBase cameras are a very expenaive waste of money.
