Bought two new Nissan Navaras end of Feb last yr under my business...one for myself, one for my husband. There was a great 1% finance deal.. This year went to get it's scheduled service, back in Early May only to find.massive oil leak..I cannot even begin to tell the story I live a 275klm round trip to closest Nissan dealership...Nissan looked at… Read more
the vehicle once.. which.eant closing my small business for the day ..loss of trading..driving a 130klm there.to be told ...not sure what's wrong with it...130klms home... An appointment was made to have the car for whole day to asses again...once again close my shop, fuel money loss of trading..only to be told they'd gurnied it to spot where the leak was coming from...there was a profuse amount if oil...undercarriage was covered and wherever I parked there would be oil drips...I was told "come back in 1000klms" I had also noted a clunking in my steering wheel during this time and steering didn't feel 'right' I had informed them. 300klms in I rang them and said look my steering doesn't feel right, I had a bad feeling and my car is missing and leaking copious amounts of fuel I can't wait another 700klms to get this car looked at again for the 3rd time..fix the problem already..I had spoken to head of service at Bundaberg about my concerns, he commented well the steering issue could be a safety problem and since the car was 'missing' so I'd better bring the car back in a week later...I was fuming as it took this other call and complaining again for the to be action..once again [Content Removed] my business..loss of trading, fuel costs etc...i had to organise a lift to get back to home 135klms away and told them I was leaving the car there until they find the problem.... I got a call back following day saying they'd found the problem it was the turbo cover causing oil leak and the steering shaft replacement needed was very dangerous... essentially.. Ok....brand new car.. hahahaha ....so I wouldnt be able to get a courtesy car until Nissan had approved warranty and parts to be ordered..this took about 4 days..then parts ordered ..essentially two weeks no car..no transport to get back home or back to pick the car up..another day I closed my business..Note..this was now not only effecting my business earnings, essentially my money to live off and pay bills but my reputation and reliability... So U picked up the car thinking everything was all fixed...hahah. I was told the turbo cover got replaced and hose and steering shaft or something the like..anyway...as in this time I moved and parked on grass covered driveway..I was unaware of any oil leaks I got the vehicle back end of May....I'd only done 2500klms since then until October when... Id gone down to the GC a 7hr drive sth for my son's birthday, I noticed it was "missing" on the way down.. I gave a friend a lift to the airport...I noticed oil on the ground where I parked....

Aggressive off-road upgrades...minus a power bump – This is Nissan’s most off-road focused ute. It’s made by a Japanese company, in Thailand, and has been upgraded in Australia - all while wearing American tyres. The new Navara is an impressive machine, thanks to its better on-road manners and multi-link suspension set-up in the rear. You can buy a more off-road focused PRO-4X model from… Read more
Nissan, however there’s one more model above that which makes that Navara look a little inadequate.
This is the Nissan Navara PRO-4X Warrior, which is tuned and upgraded here in Australia by Premcar.
If you’re looking for plush materials, they’re not really found on the inside of the Navara. There are plenty of hard, scratchy plastics that run throughout the entire cabin; only the leather seats and stitched floor mats provide that extra premium touch to this interior.
Hard plastics result in some rattling and squeaks as the chassis of the Navara shakes along rough sections of road or dirt.
The exterior build quality however, is - simply put - tough. These added components lift the exterior build quality to another level. A tough looking and feeling hoop-less bull-bar, bash plate and wide off-road tires are all justifying their price in build quality alone.
This exact PRO-4X Warrior will set you back $69,990 before on-road costs, and if you want a manual, you’ll pay a little less. It’s a fair price to pay against competitors like the Jeep Gladiator and Ford Ranger Raptor.
Although, the most frustrating part of this ute is the lack of a power bump, which would make it more competitive with its close rivals.
Premcar’s partnership with Nissan means that all of these upgrades are tied in with the 5 year/unlimited kilometre warranty of the Navara.
As for servicing, for the automatic version of this ute, you can expect to pay $3,769 for 5 services over 5 years or 120,000km of driving (whichever comes first). Total cost of servicing during this period is $3,623.
Sound isolation from the outside world was surprisingly great. Despite wearing heavy-duty Cooper off-road tyres, minimal tire roar and wind noise entered the cabin.
It’s not library quiet in here, but you’re not going to be exhausted by the noise that does bleed into the Navara.
The generic speaker system was probably the part of the sound experience that needed an upgrade the most. It met my mark for a base expectation, however I would have loved a little more punch or clarity to get a little more from the music that I was playing through these speakers.
Braking was a definite weak point for the heavy Warrior.
There’s a set of front disc brakes and a set of drum brakes on the rear. Suffice to say, they’re not big enough to provide absolute confidence under heavy braking.
The softer brake setup allows for smooth trail braking through bends, to produce a smooth transfer from acceleration to slowing down. Albeit, you don’t feel a whole lot of confidence that this ute can stop ‘on a dime’.
Using the same 2.3L twin-turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine found across the Navara line up, I can’t help but feel that Premcar really wanted to tune this motor.
In fact, they did. However, boardroom meetings saw the Warrior being refused a power bump in the name of affordability. I’d argue people would have been fine paying a few extra grand for a noticeable performance enhancement, but that’s just me.
That means you have the same 140kW at 3750rpm and 450Nm at 1500-2500rpm, resulting in a measly 60.9kW per tonne.
A recorded casual 0-100km/h time saw us hit 100km in at a mediocre 13 seconds. It’s noticeably slower between 80-110km/h, but those turbos work hard to push this ute to the finish line.
This 7-speed automatic transmission makes for a comfortable daily driver option in the Navara. It’s smooth, it’s certain in the gears it holds, and never fumbles a shift.
Premcar could have carried over the set-up they tuned for the N-Trek Warrior from the previous generation Navara, and most of us wouldn’t have noticed.
Yet, Premcar went ahead and did a complete rework on the suspension for this generation of Warrior. There’s been a reduction in rebound to avoid ‘wafting’ over undulations in the road, a 30mm increase in track width and a 40mm increase in height.
What results from this upgrade is a truck that actually is a lot of fun to take through sweeping corners. In true trophy truck race car fashion, in really sharp corners, you can read that weight transfer through to the outer-rear tyre, as the inner-front proceeds to lighten up.
Off-road, the suspension set-up was a treat to conquer ruts, puddles and long sections of rough fire trails. Although, it occasionally felt a little too stiff over some deeper holes in the road; deflating those all-terrain tyres a little should help combat that a bit.
Over nearly 2000 kilometres of driving, I averaged around 10L per 100km over a series of long country roads and some urban environments.
Inside, there’s a 7-inch infotainment screen, and a smaller LCD screen found in the driver’s instruments. There are plenty of hard buttons, which might mean a sigh of relief for some buyers.
I wish the interior matched the sharp, boxy looks of the exterior. Rather, it feels a little like the last generation Nissan here. I would appreciate a little more tech, and some amenities like heated seats to come back to the top-trim Navara.
Tray space remains the same for the Warrior, as it does for the rest of the Navara line up. Gross vehicle mass carrying capacity has increased by 100kg to compensate for the additional weight added by the accessories splashed on the exterior of this ute, as well as that full-sized spare wheel.
There’s an easter egg type accessory here, as keen-eyed viewers will notice the custom-built tow hitch receiver to prevent that 40mm lift from having any impact on hitching a trailer compared to a normal Navara.
Comfort-wise, I found this ute to deliver an effortless ride over 10 hours of back-to-back driving. I’ve heard some complaints about the comfort of these front seats, but despite those claims, I didn’t have any major issues with them. My lower back survived the road trip, that’s for sure.
Looking for a serious off-road capable ute, without having to spend time finding, fitting and fabricating aftermarket parts to it? The Navara PRO-4X Warrior is for you.
It provides performance both off and on the road, retains the regular Navara’s practicality, and looks in every way like a Baja-ready trophy truck.
If those things appeal to you, it’s a certain ‘Buy It’ option - especially if you’re looking for a modern day, Australian-tuned ute.

Good value but starting to show its age on the inside – There’s a lot of car influence in the new Navara, and less truck influence, which is a good thing! A car-like construction means solid overall build quality, but without the rough edges and questionable corners being cut in the name of utility. There’s no need for excessive force when closing the ute’s tray, or overly heavy doors. Instead, the… Read more
Navara’s construction makes it an approachable and excellent daily option for a wider variety of buyers than some other Utes.
The Nissan Navara ST-X starts from $55,790 drive-away.
Adding a 4X4 drive-train, Forged Copper paint and a leather interior will push that price a lot closer to the $60,000 mark.
You’re getting plenty of capacity for towing (3.5T) and a one-tonne load capacity, all without having to use leaf-spring rear suspension.
Nissan includes a 5 year/unlimited kilometre warranty with the purchase of a Navara, and also includes capped price servicing and roadside assistance.
What is immediately noticeable compared to other utes is just how refined in sound this ute is. Not just in its audio system, but also the isolation from the 2.3L twin-turbo motor.
Never faulting in its performance, there’s enough clarity and power from these speakers with less distortion at higher volumes than you might expect from a ute.
Although the Navara has managed to do away with the traditional leaf-spring suspension setup found in many of its competitors, it still retains the popular use of rear drum brakes.
Drum brakes didn’t really have an impact on the otherwise responsive and smooth brakes. Initial bite on the brake pedal wasn’t harsh, and it made daily driving with passengers seamless and relaxing.
For additional peace of mind, there’s the inclusion of autonomous emergency braking. However, it really proved to be a nuisance on my daily commute to the office as it picked the Sydney Harbour Bridge as a great place to randomly tap the brakes, preempting a non-existent crash.
This was unsettling, especially at speeds of up to 70km/h - it wasn’t a rare occurrence either, as it often did this in the same location. Other publications have reported the exact same issue occurring, so this isn’t an isolated incident or only relevant to this particular test vehicle.
The Nissan Navara produces 140kW at 3750rpm, and 450Nm at 1500-2500rpm from a 2.3L twin-turbo four cylinder diesel power plant.
I was thoroughly impressed with the performance of this engine. Not only was it smooth, but it certainly felt capable and powerful, despite just being a four-cylinder engine.
The twin-turbo setup is a more elegant solution to the traditional large single-turbo setup. It allowed for off-the-line acceleration to be linear, rather than an initial lag and then power.
Connected to the twin-turbo unit was a 7-speed automatic transmission. Despite its aged visual appearance of the shifter in the cabin, it translated that power and torque without the traditional ‘jerky’ experience.
This 7-speed auto was particularly delightful to use day to day and out on road trips. It rarely skipped a beat, and added to the overall smooth ride that the engine and suspension were capable of providing.
Doing-away with a traditional leaf-spring setup, the Navara is fitted with a multi-link rear suspension with shock absorbers.
The more complicated and sophisticated multi-link suspension setup in the Navara dramatically improves the ride quality when unladen, yet is still able to handle over a 1T payload.
This suspension setup doesn’t completely eliminate a stiff ride when unladen, but it certainly smooths out the ride quality and helps improve comfort in a ute with a proper carrying capacity.
Off-road, the suspension setup on this Navara provides a total ground clearance of 224mm, giving plenty of height to traverse any small rocks and dips on a track. This height offers an approach angle of 32.7 degrees, a ramp over angle of 23.2 degrees and a departure angle of 20.3 degrees.
That approach angle figure is very good, thanks to a redesigned front-end, however the Navara will prove to be a bit more difficult to steer out of large dips with a lower departure angle.
The Navara has a claimed combined fuel economy figure of 7.9L/100km, which is the main advantage when buying a dual-cab ute with a four-cylinder, turbo-diesel engine.
Across a 1000km road trip, I saw a fuel economy figure at 8.5L, however in the city, you can expect the 2.1T truck to return figures over 10L/100km if you’re heavy on the throttle.
The Navara’s tray measures out at a size of 1509mm x 519mm x 1560mm - the tray is wider than its length. The total payload capacity of this tray is rated at 1024kg, which is bloody impressive for a high-end ute. This beats out the less than 1T rating on the top of the range D-MAX.
The tray provides plenty of space for several items including suitcases and bales of hay. The bed-lining in the tray feels premium and robust, akin to a rubber/plastic hybrid, making it comfortable to sit in the back.
With a crew of three packed into the Navara with overnight luggage, the ute provided plenty of comfort in the way of generously padded leather seats, adjustable lower back bolstering for the driver and front-heated seats.
With a powerful twin-turbo diesel motor, buttery-smooth 7-speed transmission and comfortable interior, the Navara stacks up to be one of the better Utes to buy at the $60,000 mark. Although it's starting to show its age on the inside and will need a upgrade there to be more competitive with the Ford Ranger, VW Amarok and Isuzu D-MAX.

Complete brake failure on gravel sloped driveways and on slippery surfaces – This ute is dangerous. The brake pedal locks out and can not be pumped, pushed, forced or provide any ability to stop the wheels trom turning once the abs activates. The abs pulses so fast the brakes don't work and the wheels free turn allowing the ute to gain speed down hill without any ability to apply pressure to the peddle. Ancap, Nissan… Read more
Nz, the car dealer Nelson Bays moters all refuse to acknowledg this unbelievably dangerous fault. Their testing facilities will never pick this up.
Do not use off road on gravel.
You will die.
Once the abs activates the foot peddle is locked out, I almost bent the steering column trying to stop the brand new $70k ute from rolling through a steal gate and off a 20m cliff. I had to turn off the driveway and crash across rocks tearing off the foot rails and damaging the front guards.
The second time it happened I was backing down a small slope in a paddock to brake hard and roll a bail of hay off the tray. The abs activated, the ute continued to let the wheels turn and it crashed back into a sheep netting fence bending the rear tray door, smashing lights and damaging the undercarriage.
My 1 year old was with in range to be killed if things had been different.
Dangerous and unsafe.
Not happy with the electricals – I purchased a Navara pro 4 X in 2022. I had few electrical.issues even though the tank was full. I could see low fuel.warning on dashboard. Once I was bogged on a flat service due to wet weather vehicle was not able to pull out eventhough I activated 4x4 and diff lock. I experienced vehicle would not start randomly takes longer ignition and hand to turn it off. Very good with the towing. But not happy with the electricals. Show details
The Navara truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.- Why this is the best Navara so far – I am not one of those guys that walks into a dealership not knowing anything about the vehicle i am about to test drive, normally there is a lot of online research, looking at recalls, issues and professional road test, professional opinions and the tire kickers. I also have to add this is my third Nissan Navara (2019 Kingcab Manual STX, 2020… Read more
Ntrex Auto) and now the 2022 Pro-4X Warrior- Manual i also need to add that its a 2022 (Series 2) model and the manuals are hard to find. How to know if you have the updated/new version, heated front seats, rear seat map pockets and electric seat controls for the driver, series one or 2021 version does not have these options.
Getting a new car tip- The Nissan website when you want to take the next step in test driving and purchasing a vehicle directs you to your nearest dealer to your postcode. The dealers nearest to your postcode so you will be directed to company AHG or DVG or an independent, the trading stock between dealerships does not happen so they give you an estimated delivery time based on their stock and their allocation. As a customer looking for a new vehicle this can make an influence on your decision making on what make to buy due to the lead-time. A customer only gets the full picture of stock level of a vehicle by shopping around different dealers and for most they believe they are buying from Nissan Australia and not a company. Unfortunately as all of the dealerships are privately owned they don't see helping Nissan. They want the profit for their dealership and essentially money in their own pockets rather than another dealer/salesperson. In my case i was originally told 5-6 months waiting time, i found a vehicle available in 3 weeks delivery so it pays to shop around.
Inside the car- Leather accented features and upholstery that may contain synthetic material, it looks like leather and behaves like leather but who really knows and maybe I should ask a vegan. The seats are comfortable and well supporting and front seats are heated and the work great in the winter, i always feel i can’t get them low enough. I have two hates in the new 2022 Navara, the cup holders under the air vents have now gone and you have to live with the cup holders in the center console and that is where the second issue lies. Where do you put your phone, there is only one "Android Auto" plug and that is in front of the gear selector, the shelf nearest to socket is too small and slippery for a phone, so you end up with your phone in the cup holder. Ideally i would like my phone in the glove box or the storage box at the rear of the center console, the storage box has a charging USB, USB-c and a 12v power supply but no "Android Auto" plug. My fix was a $19 fix from Jaycar extending the front "Android Auto" plug around the back of gear selectors fascia’s into the glove box, now i have 2 cup holders i can use. The sound system is good not on a Bose level but good, i love the new DAB integration as well as the standard AM, FM and streaming options. I have all my music on my phone for long drives so i use Android auto with the "Rocket Player App" as it does listing by file. The satellite navigation is smooth and easy to use and so is the voice calling, the screen is not huge but doesn't really bother me its more than adequate. I just love the new Speedo/Taco set up nice integration of information from the cars safety devises, sound system and warning messages, gone are the 4 warnings that you are low on fuel, you now just get one warning. I find the steering wheel a bit busy with buttons but i am getting used to them. The steering wheel has only up and down adjustments but i was able to find a comfortable driving position. The new safety gadgets are great, mirrors have blind spot monitoring (new) and bleeps and flashes at you if you indicate while there is a vehicle in your blind spot. You also have high beam assist (New), automatic wipers (New) Lane Departure Warning (New) Intelligent Lane Intervention (new) gently pulls you away from the white line and emergency breaking (new), not tried yet. The manual still comes with cruise control yes the buttons are on the steering wheel as well. So why the manual, my Navara STX in 2019 was a manual and I prefer and enjoy driving manuals, also there is slightly better fuel economy, I just takes a week and you don’t even notice your changing gears. Aerodynamics, it shaped like a brick very beautiful and muscular looking but still brick like and when you pull out from behind a truck you can feel the Ute slow and more throttle is needed. The weight is more than the standard Navara (1924kg) the Pro Warrior is 2146kg so compared to the standard it does feel like it needs more throttle to pull off and the brakes need more foot pressure to slow the beast down, but 2 weeks in I am accustomed to it slight quirks and now just feels normal. The suspension is raised 40mm from the standard STX and my wife still manages to climb in but harder from the driver’s side no grab handle so the steering wheel is quite handy. Handling on the road is better than my last Navara 2020 N Trex, I was expecting it to wallow when hard cornering and yet it far more stable and I can now push a little harder. I haven’t taken the car off road yet but there are plenty of online reviews that give the Warrior 5 star reviews for its ability. So would I buy one again after driving for 2 weeks? Hell yes its far more fun to drive than my old Navara and it feels far more luxurious. I normally drive about 45,000 kms per year for my work and spend a lot of time behind the wheel, I have tried other brands of Utes and for someone who enjoys driving and comfort is important to them, they just don’t stack up.
The bits I love- I love the styling inside and the built in steel Bull bar and led light. Love the new driving aids and folding mirrors, the Ute’s gone from a work horse to something more refined. It drives well and no slouch off the mark sounds a bit more gruntier than my last one.
The bits I hate – where’s my cup holders gone? Needs an "Android Auto" plug either in the glove box or the box at the rear of the center consol.

Mostly good; vehicle has a few silly mistakes – Very good economy, smooth to drive, and good torque. Exterior rear vision mirrors where you can actually see what's behind and alongside! I like the reverse cam; very helpful. Electrics a bit annoying - phone won't recharge unless it's link in to the system. One major complaint: the spare tyre set up is dreadful. 200,000km and still going strong – I have a 2016 np300.. I have been Towing a 3T van for about 80km of its life to now and I haven't had any issues. My current vgm is 2.8T and I still manage to get 2870km per tank. I warm my car before I travel. 60 degrees Celsius and if it's cold morning around 4c I will run the car till operational temp of 70c. Running temp is between 75 and 85 for my navara.
When I warm my car the engine load is set to 20 to 35%.. having the ac on regardless of how cold it is will still pull engine load... it's enough to warm the car and prevent glazing at idle due to load.
I do this with every diesel car I have had and never once had to replace anything major..

Buyer beware – Navara Warrior SL 2023 All I can say is I am glad the company owns the ute, I do use the ute for work and very appreciative for that. I have had the car since June 2023. I would love to point out the dealer and service agent but I won't. They shrug off everything and think it's not that bad.
To date a number of these things are outstanding to fix and will be interesting if they sort it on my next big service this week.
Overall terrible car and terrible after sales.

Super reliable great value ute – Great! I test drove various utes here in Australia and chose the ST-X model navara. I have had it 12 months so far and it's been wonderful without a glitch in any way. Amazing fuel economy, car like handling, luxury seating and all round great drivability. I could have spent a huge amount more on one particular brand ute for not much gain. I think the navara is by far the best overall value ute on sale here. A1+ Show details

happened. I got some time off work so booked the car into Nissan in Midvale and said it’s the only car I have so I will have to wait for it. I sat there for nilly 5 hours only to be told they didn’t know how to fix it and it was a complete camera failure and that they would need to write to Nissan to see if they would even repair it under warranty! I said it has a 5 year warranty. He said we noticed a small chip in the wind screen from a rock and this could have caused it, I said I don’t think so as I only got the stone chip friday and the failures have been like this for months but I could not get the time off work. I said so you are trying to tell me if anyone get a small stone chip in their windscreen the whole computer camera systems will fail? It was only when I said I will be writing to the ACCC that his attitude was more passive than to begin with. I felt like he was trying to get out of fixing this issue all together. I said why haven’t you fixed the USB issue he said oh that a seperate issue all together and we can look at that another time.
This is unprofessional and unbelievable that anyone should be treated this way. I still have not heard back from Nissan. I would strongly warn anyone in buying the Nissan Navara if you are going to have failures like this. I said to the man so where is the computer camera system? He said in the rear view mirror on the window. If Nissan are going to continue to give me poor service and mess me about with fixing this car I will be more than happy to do a more in depth review, YouTube chancel etc to get the word out there, so stay tuned! Purchased a brand new Nissan Navara Pro in November 2021 to tow a camper trailer. I had a company car so only drove the car on weekends. We took it off road the first week of January and was getting malfunction warning lights coming on and the usb function kept disappearing so you could not play music through the USB at all every-time this happened.
Your warrentee work is of a very poor standard – 92k before parting with it. Due solely to your inability to address warrentee issues within a reasonable time frame. We had to fight for over 6 months to get identified warrentee issues at 80k addressed by the service department. It made us sell the vehicle and buy a ranger. My wife wanted an another Nissan. I will never give you 70k plus to be treat like crap. Show details

Love the car but the Nissan service is crap – I have a 2018 ST Manuel. We have spared no expense on kitting the car out for travelling. The car has been regularly serviced and has 49000km on the clock. About 3 weeks age it had a major serviced by Nissan Hillcrest QLD which cost over $700. Then 3 or 4 days later we noticed a oil leak coming for the car. We took it back to Nissan and they told… Read more
us the leak wouldn't be covered under warranty as we had fitted a catch can. We fitted the catch can from new and Nissan Hillcrest had very mentioned it before went it had been serviced by them. They also told me they took photos of the catch can and forwarded to Nissan Australia and charger me $160 and wouldn't say were the leak was from. Turned out to be a rear main seal. Like WTH Nissan.
Second Navara I’ve had 2021 STX 4x4 – Car is used daily around regional town, no issues so far, quite comfortable, a few more safety features which are handy, use ute every other day on 4WD beach, cannot fault the cars capabilities in powdery sand I have noticed though a few minor issues the vehicle tends to come up with warning regarding side radar as per photo Really happy so far a good solid ute - big fan of the old Navara Show details
Nissan Navara STX water entering inside of tub – I purchased the car new in 2018, and overtime I realised there was water inside on the tub liner, now that I was aware of this I tried to workout how this was happening. what I have found is that when you drive in the rain that water is entering inside of the tub liner coming in over both wheel arches. I have removed one side of the tub liner and… Read more
put a hose under the wheel arch to find that the water is entering through a hole in the tub liner from how the tub was made, the water enters through the hole and runs along a small lip and then starts to drip down onto inside of the tub liner over the wheel arches and there for is inside of your tub. At present I’m trying to fix it as Nissan says you have to go through your dealership. As I use the car to run my business this is very hard to have the vehicle off the road with down time, other than that the car has been great
Where is the half star option – First Motor blew a head gasket at 100,000km without any warning, removal and refitting of motor alone is $3,000 parts were only genuine and hard to source, best choice was a used motor with 60,000km that has now thrown a conrod bearing and will be $1500 to take motor out before parts and labour on stripping the engine for repair, the YS23DDTT… Read more
motor is absolute rubbish, love the truck but if I can help it will not run the risk of yet another lemon of a motor.
Save your time and money and walk away before committing yourself to heartache and empty wallet.
