Buyer beware – Navara Warrior SL 2023 All I can say is I am glad the company owns the ute, I do use the ute for work and very appreciative for that. I have had the car since June 2023. In this time these are the faults that have occured. 1 Faulty Turbo had to be replaced 2. Blown air con compressor today 3. Engine light failure 4. Centre console cheap… Read more

plastic, my arm cracked it and went through it. 5. Since new reverse camera failures, lock screens and head unit not working at all randomly. 6.Malfunction screens appearing, having to rest car by turning on and off 7.Drive train clunk very loud when selecting gears 8.Outer wheel scrubbing due to no toe adjustment 9.Random loss of acceleration happened a few times now 10.Idle surging when stopping. Only way to stop it is to move again and then stop. 11. Terrible brake squealing, apparently Navaras are like this. They failed to tell me this at time of sale. 12.Water ingress in front light bar. 13.Clunking in rear suspension when going over bumps. Yes my hitch is out of my towbar. 14.Constant Android Auto issues

Buyer beware, Only good for being an anchor. Unreliable, gutless and very problematic.

The car has only just got 40,000kms and has had all it's services.

I would love to point out the dealer and service agent but I won't. They shrug off everything and think it's not that bad.

To date a number of these things are outstanding to fix and will be interesting if they sort it on my next big service this week.

Overall terrible car and terrible after sales.

200,000km and still going strong – I have a 2016 np300.. I have been Towing a 3T van for about 80km of its life to now and I haven't had any issues. There has been a lot of mods to my nav with 300 litre fuel capacity for touring. It reached 200k 2 weeks ago and still going strong. Everything is still original engine wise.. except for egr delete with blanking. Two stage water… Read more

separators and a catch can is all that's done for the engine.

My current vgm is 2.8T and I still manage to get 2870km per tank. I warm my car before I travel. 60 degrees Celsius and if it's cold morning around 4c I will run the car till operational temp of 70c. Running temp is between 75 and 85 for my navara.

When I warm my car the engine load is set to 20 to 35%.. having the ac on regardless of how cold it is will still pull engine load... it's enough to warm the car and prevent glazing at idle due to load.

I do this with every diesel car I have had and never once had to replace anything major..

Crap manual gear box – Shifter either won't push down to allow you to move it into reverse or if it does it won't pop back up. Been to nissan and they replaced the shifter staying it was rusty and was my fault. The issue started about 2months after I purchased the car. The dealership now won't talk to me when I am having the same issue 4 days after paying to get it replaced Show details

A four-wheel-drive that’s way too rough to take out four wheel driving!! – I purchased a 2022 NP300 dual cab with a canopy, bulbar with lights and a towbar just about two months ago and I have found it to be the most roughest vehicles I have ever purchased and the only thing I believe will fix this is to replace the suspension as others have already had to do. To drive on a somewhat perfect roads vehicle is not rough at… Read more

all but when placed on imperfect country roads whether it be bitumen with patches and potholes or dirt roads that are corrugated the Nissan suspension really lacks enginering. To be honest this has been a very unpleasant purchase and I would advise anyone who is looking at buying the a NP300 to take it for a good test drive on the rough road before purchasing.

Very happy – Capable off road and good towing ability. Bit gutless at low revs off road but fine once in low range. This is the third Navarra I’ve had in np300 range and all been great. Show details

Great bang for buck – Capable 4wd with minimal aftermarket changes. Can't express enough though before buying do research on common issues that these cars have. Hasn't stopped me buying though. Brought two (2015 & 2020) Show details

Excellent Car – Bought brand new in 2015. Drove it for 5 years and clocked up 180,000 Klms. With no issues to speak of. Head unit was replaced under warranty. Engine/gearbox etc was perfect. Lots of torque. And very comfortable. Surprised at just how good the French Engine is. When sold last year, it had original clutch and brakes on it. Got 2021 model now. Show details

Don’t Trust Nissan No Customer Service-auto issues – We purchased a new 2017 SL Navara and a xtrail at the same time. Spent 80k on cars. Nissan made us feel special with the purchases and even gave us gifts. However after a month we notice the Navara was hard to get out of park randomly. When it released from park it sounded like the auto had just fallen out or you have hit something. A loud metal… Read more

clunk.

We called Nissan and they booked it in to be checked. They advised us after having the car for the a day that nothing was wrong with it and we were not parking the car correctly. They also advised us that they wouldn’t charge us for this.

We thought oh ok maybe we are in the wrong so we became OCD with the order in which we parked the car. We also obtained a work car so it didn’t get driven as much.

When we did drive it randomly it would still do it. We reported it again. They had the car and said it didn’t fault for them again.

I was told when it does it to bring it back in. I explained it does it randomly and if I drove it to them it probably wouldn’t do it again. I said what if I video it. They agreed that would be fine. I video it and took it back. Between then and the end of my story it has been in and had what they call a clutch adaptation. It has had this done numerous times and it still does it. Maybe more now than ever.

Nissan Australia got involved and told me to take it back I did and now they too are saying there is nothing wrong with it. They have now told me to go away and if unhappy to contact the ACCC.

The noise is real. I have multiple videos of this. When it faults people stop and stare at you like you have just ran into something.

Don’t trust Nissan their warranty means nothing and once you have bought the car if you have a problem they won’t fix it.

Very happy, definitely innovation that excites! – Very happy with this truck. So comfortable and nice to drive. Its about time manufacturers step up and build a duel cab with coil rear end. All the car reviews say that the np300 doesn't carry weight well....but 85% of ppl buying duel cabs don't need or want to carry big loads...if they do throw in so heavy duty coils for $200....and you'll still… Read more

have a better ride than a Ranger or Hilux....I know because I test drove them all and the np300 was a winner buy far. Thumbs up to Nissan for getting in 1st and redesigning the humble duel cab when no one else would...of course it would take a couple of goes to get it rite but it was well worth it! At the end of the day all new cars will have issues...but that's life...talk to your dealership kindly and respectfully and they will fix the problem....with a little patience.

Love the np300. If your looking at buying a new duel cab give it a test drive...you might just be impressed...like I was.

This ticking noise is intolerable – I don't know what I am going to do ? Car is still pretty new 1500 km ,but has ticked and flutter right around the driving rpm and throttle position . First trip to Nissan ,and they can't hear much of a problem ,They say they heard it faintly and advised bring back leaving overnight so it is cold for testing , I believe it is much louder when… Read more

cold , when ever your coasting down hill you get this weird noise sort of what I'd say a fluttering butterfly valve noise .opening then closing very rapidly ,it almost the opposite of the acceleration noise ,where it seems to be loud and metallic and rapid tapping .

After reading so many similar posts about this noise ,and with no apparent fix from anyone . I am very concerned I've made a huge mistake in purchasing it .

Though the rest of the vehicle seems close to perfect so far , vehicle drives flawlessly otherwise ,an issue like this sure leaves a sour taste in your mouth .

What next ?? Lawyers ,accc, fair trading ,consumer rights , looks like this is where we are heading .(time I don't have )

I,am going to say DONT buy , until these incompetents (Nissan) fix this .

fuel economy – I traded my Y61 Patrol on the SL auto NP300. No regrets. Its now done 3500km in 1 month. Fuel economy averages 9l / 100k, on/ off road. Vehicle has bull bar, tow bar, snorkel, etc. I work in Agribusiness, in some really steep terrain at times, and it handles it well. Lack of dust sealing in tray is a serious oversight, Nissan offer a fix for their… Read more

Pleasantly Surprised – Have only done 1800km, but wife and I are wrapped with this vehicle so far. When the np300 Navara first came out, I thought it was a great looking ute, but dismissed it after reading reviews that criticized steering and suspension. It was while looking at second hand commodore utes for my wife to run errands in for me that the Nissan dealer… Read more

convinced me to take the Navara for a spin. Maybe because my previous vehicle was a 2004 RA Rodeo, I was blown away by the sporty feeling suspension and was really impressed with the little 2.3 twin turbo engine - that this little engine mated to a auto gear box had this much engine braking was a big surprise to me.

The SL spec also won me over, combining vinyl flooring with in-dash reversing camera. Mazda BT50 at same dealership was $4-5000 dearer with reversing camera optional in rear vision mirror!

I traded in my RA, and pretty much use this vehicle for everything now. Unlike many tradies and farmers who buy dual cabs, I haven't replaced the tub with a steel tray, instead I tow a 3.5 tonne, tandem axle tipping trailer, which makes more sense to me than having to spend $5k on a tray every new vehicle and I don't really think that a dual cab is a proper platform for carrying heavy loads on the tray anyway - the load being so far to the rear. I was expecting to have to upgrade the suspension, but this didn't worry me that much, because being several thousand cheaper than a Hilux or Ranger, I reckoned I could afford to spend a little on the Navara's suspension. So far though, I haven't had issues with the rear suspension. I've only towed about 1900kg so far, but the rear didn't sag at all.

I drove a mates SR Hilux after I bought the Navara and when I commented on how rough the rear suspension was, he told me that it was even worse before he upgraded the suspension on it. The Hilux did have better steering and was a bit smoother running at idle, but the Navara felt much smoother and more pleasant to drive otherwise; though I would expect the Hilux to be the better off-road vehicle.

So this vehicle takes us on holidays, my wife runs errands for me picking up agricultural chemicals and odd stuff in the tub and then puts her groceries on the back seat, and I hook up the trailer when I need to cart a load. We get between 7.5 - 8.5 l/100km going in and out of town, and about 11 and up towing the trailer. I think this is pretty good for a vehicle of this size and I am more than happy. I think anybody who can't deal with a 15 litre reserve on empty is a bit of an idiot - it's time to fill up, regardless, and it's better to have some reserve than none at all. Steering took a little getting used to at first - amount of turns to reverse park, but we are used to it now.

I am really quite fond of it. I like the styling and the interior is really good. My single biggest concern with the vehicle so far, is the amount of splash from the front left wheel onto the engine, as there seems to be a little bit of cost cutting or lack of effort to the design of the guards in the wheel arches, which is a pity. But so far, so good - I'm very happy with the SL D23 Nissan Navara!

In the spectrum of current dual cab utes, I think the Navara leans more towards the ute side than the pickup truck side. I am using this definition, because if you are prone to testing a vehicles load carrying capacity, then you are probably better off with a leaf springs. To say the Navara is useless as a work vehicle, however, isn't my experience. It tows 3.5 tonne rated trailer better than my RA Rodeo did, and as a ute it will tow a hell of a lot more than a commodore or falcon ute - with a nicer interior and better fuel economy! The D23 Navara, although properly called a pick-up or light commercial truck, actually fulfills the 'ute' concept quite well. If it turns out to be half reliable, I will be very happy!

Nice Dual Cab Ute but room for a few improvements – Bought new SL and now travelled 3000 km. Feels more car like to drive than some utes I tried but still has wide turning circle. Fit and finish looks good but sheet metal is thin and under mud guard protection to stop water getting onto engine seems ineffective, alternator exposed. 4WD is easy to engage, so far I have only driven on sand but it… Read more

performed well. . The Dashboard display is excellent with plenty of options and information but no outside temp. Bluetooth works well and the radio is clear with good rural reception on AM. The air conditioning is. also very good. The seats are comfortable and the cabin has plenty of room for two large adults. Good cup holders but I would have liked more cabin storage space. Back seat is upright , limited leg room. It folds forward to access jack and a small storage area but more thought into the way the seat folds could make this area better. I fitted ARB cab which is mated to the ute rear sliding window. The electric sliding window on the ute is a great feature Engine is noisy outside but cab is well sound proofed. Good power especially when second turbo engages. Fuel consumption with light load is impressive. Not too sure about the automatic it seems a bit slow / hesitant at times and only appears to go into 7th gear when used manually. I will get dealer to check this out. Service intervals for light use is every 20k . The upgraded suspension on the SL handles the rough Victorian country roads well. While I have not yet towed anything, I will only carry light loads in the tray and tow a 1700kg caravan so given the excellent low down torque and suspension changes by Nissan, I suspect the Nivara will do a good job. However towing and carrying tray load at full weight looks like a big problem to remain legal and safe. It is too early to comment on reliability but I took out the optional 5 year Nissan factory warranty just in case. Overall not the best but still a nice ute,. I got it at a good price well below recommended retail. as Nissan sales have slowed. So far I am happy with it.
