Great for cold, terribly noisy though – The unit is without a doubt freezing cold, which is great! The downfall is the noise output by this unit is terribly loud, and the portability is lacking (wheels broke and beforehand was very heavy) the wheels had scratched my new Lino floor before they broke. It's easy to set up at a window or doorway, although the thing that blocks outside air coming back in is small.  Show details

Can't sleep without it – I have had thi model for about 8 years. It has been used extensively to cool on a climate where runs of 35C+ days .are normal It has been used in the main bedroom and has gone 24/7 for weeks without a hiccough. It is incredibly noisy. It can wake the dead in the middle of the night when the compressor clicks on and off but this is a small price to… Read more

pay for being able to function in high temperatures.

I would recommend it to anyone who wanted to cool one smallish room. It is magic in a bedroom or small living room if you can close the doors and isolate the room.

It is incredibly heavy, noisy and the hose that feeds to the outside is a real pain in the neck to set up but once it

is done. No worries.

Other reviewers tell a different story which surprises me. I've never had any problem with mine and I've had it forever.

I'd recommend my unit to anybody but I'm not giving it up. If you try one and it breaks down why not hassle the manufacturer for repair?

I can't fault this unit as far as maximum output of cold air. You can make your own choice.

Don't Buy NOBO COOL – It failed the moment its out of warranty. It's noisy, it shatters when it operated. Its a disaster. The air coming out is hot and has a smell of plastic. The machine has always been well looked after and the filter are always rinsed and dried after every use. DON'T BUY Nobocool or Polocool ever again.

Don't look to bad reviews. Choose wisely and the nobody cool will work wonders for you – I have 3 of these machines. Fantastic product and works very well. Cools my house beautifully In the right position one could not wish for a better result. Keeps the house at a comfortable temperature with century heat we are having. If it doesn't work fir you, you obviously don't have the right unit. Look to high BTU rating, you cannot go wrong.

wouldnt recommend – I have a nobocool room air conditioner and it has started to make loud noises. Looking at the back, pieces of broken plastic from it on the floor. Hubby shined a torch in and there is broken plastic inside the unit. Wouldnt you know it, it is just out of warranty. It is also a very loud , nosiy conditioner when it was in working order. Beware!… Read more

When you hear it at the shop, it doesnt sound loud because of the huge salesroom, but once you run it at home, you have to turn the tv volume up. It does cool things down a bit. Next air conditioner Im getting will be installed .

Please dont buy nobo – This is the worst aircon i ever bought. My friend and i bought 2 different aircons from the same shop unfortunately i bought nobo and since that time i am always trying to adjust this exhaust pipe which always leaks the hot air and you can't do any thing etc.

Buyer be warned – I have owned this product now for 48 hours and it has tripped my power 6 times. I contacted Nobo to be advised that you cant use extension cords with these products (this is not informed in their literature) so even earthed to a power point it still tripped it. Again for what it says it can do there are other models around the 700 range that add… Read more

5Kw cold blast – I have this set up in a bedroom about the size of a single car-port and I have had temperature reductions of about 8-10 degrees. I also installed 2 easyduct transfer systems to pump this cool-air into an adjacent room (combined lounge/dining) and easily achieve a comfortable temp of 23-24 C for this 1 bedroom unit. powerful 5Kw blast of cold… Read more

air.... easy to install and no leakage of hot-air back into the room (I used alot of gaffer-tape)...this is a set and forget model... with no need to empty any tanks etc. noise is equivalent to a window/wall air-conditioner...

Powerful Noisy Beast – I previously owned the Nobo Polocool 5.5kw and that was a more effective air-conditioner in cooling down the room. Polocool worked well in the 36-40 degrees summer heat, my room was freezing and I really enjoyed that comfort. To give you a rough idea on its cooling capacity, my room is approx 3.5m*4m big. But the noise from the Polocool was so… Read more

loud, I could not sleep at night even with ear plugs. I do not recommend this if you want to leave it on while sleeping. I recommend this for large rooms like the living or lounge room where the TV will be on. I had to sell it because it was way too noisy. Powerful cold air, good for lounge and living rooms Very loud and noisy, unbearable to sleep with, expensive

Excellent – Purchased to cool the lounge area of a house we were renting. Excellent cooling capability, we are in Brisbane in a west facing house with poor insulation so it was working in extreme conditions and cooled the lounge/dining and kitchen area nicely. We have the model that re uses the water so you never have to empty the tank, which you don't we… Read more

used it all summer and went to empty the tank a few times just to check and there was nothing to enter.

It blasts out cool are and cools very quickly. You can adjust the temperature to suit your needs, we had ours set on 23 degrees and it was very comfortable. Cooled excellently Heavy to move around so I would only set it up in one room and leave it there.

Summer night saviour – We needed a cooling solution that didn't require drilling into walls as we are currently renting. We own a lesser quality portable air conditioner at the moment but was not adequate and constantly needed empting. The Nobo has been fantastic, cools the room down very quickly and rarely needs to be emptied -no more beeps in the middle of the night!… Read more

We bought this second hand and have had no problems what so ever. Rarely needs emptying, strong cooling, portable, no need for installation. Big and bulky, noisy.

Excellent – Extra hose can be purchased from Bunnings if one finds the accompanying one too short. I have had mine for two years and (with blocking off unused sections of the house) found it kept the house significantly cooler compared to outside during the 2008/09 mini heatwaves. As a side note, I noticed the a/c at the local shopping complex was not… Read more

coping very well with those mini heatwaves. Their a/c was literally blowing warm air. Why? Water cooled system and everything heated up, including water pipes. :p Easy to relocate. No water. No evaporative tank to empty daily. Cannot actually fault this product except (as noted elswhere) it's no designed for multi-storied buildings.

Bad – I don't think I will recommend this product to my friends, because I rather have a more quiet one. But one thing is that this product is probably one of the most powerful, but it's way too noisy Very powerful engine and produce very cooling air The biggest setback of this product is the noise level, it is just unbearable to me so I could only use… Read more

it during daytime, not able to use it on hot summer nights because i know i couldn't sleep at all if it's turned on next to me, so basically it defeats the purpose of having a portable air conditioner which you want a good night sleep

great for what its meant for – worked well in bedroom and office, If put on before room got hot worked really well, great because we could have it in the office during the day and in the bed room at night, very portable. mine was vey reliable, had no issues, very easy to use good for small rooms only, it struggled to keep big open plan areas cool

Not worth the money – I thought I would go the biggest unit, to be sure, to be sure, however it struggles on hot days, eg over 32, and will not cool 2 small rooms. Is great if you sit within 6 ft. It may produce 19000 btu, but the heat from vent pipe, and constant drawing of Hot outside air affects it,s cooling capacity. Quite noisy too. Sure, it's portable, and quite… Read more

possibly can be used as a heater in winter by disconnecting the vent pipe. Noisy, Expensive, but lacks performance of a 5.5, 19000 BTU unit

Excellent – The best portable air that actually works... I love it. Don't forget to put the pipe out the window as I noticed in one of the earlier comments someone saying they pump a lot of hot air and it couldn't keep up with it, the pipe goes out side so hot air goes out, the window kit is included for that reason. Its like a mini freezer, cools way too… Read more

well, I have to keep turning it off. Its works fast. And I'm very impressed as was worried about going portable but this unit has out done its self. Even my sister wants one Window kit was hard to get the pipes in. Its says never change the water but after 2months it cut out and come up with a warning to empty the water. But it works like a freezer so I still love the unit

Good – I've been through alot of portable aircons due to renting, cheap and expensive, and the nobo cool does the best job iv seen. i had the 5.2kw model and it worked much better then the 5.5kw dimplex that sells for $500 more. If your good at haggling you should be able to get the price down to around $650 - $700 and i wouldnt pay much more than that… Read more ·  3

as i got mine down to $600 by doing my research.

As i mentioned above there were a few issues, the water tank does need emptying every few months, but its never more then a few drops, compared to some aircons that run out like a tap for 5 minutes.

Also the window kit pipe does heat up, but thats the same as all portable air cons so i just put a wet cold towel over the pipe and change it every few hours and it dramatically reduces any heat coming from the back.

Also i had a major issue with my model stop blowing cold after a few months.

I contacted nobocool and the receptionist didnt want anything to do with me and told me to take it back to harvey norman. So i did and was told they have had a few problems with a batch of machines and to contact nobocools head rep to get it sorted.

So after being messed around for a few days by both companies i called nobocool and again spoke to the receptionist who yet again tried to tell me they wouldnt deal with me direct but this time i told her i have been advise to talk to chez their rep, who then called me back and offered me free pickup of the broken aircon and free delivery of a new model and they were going to upgrade me to the polocool (valued at $1400 through harvey norman).

So in the end it all worked out, but other then the issue i had with a defective batch i was very happy with the nobocool.

If you have any issues with this model contact CHEZ at nobocool and he will help you out Excellent portable unit. Very good value for money. Harvey norman had these selling at $900 i managed to talk the sales rep down to $600 (massive saving as it was a few months before summer).

Works great to cool my whole LARGE loungeroom and hallway. Locally made in carrum downs victoria and nobocool rep was good to deal with direct for any issues After 4 months the aircon stopped blowing cold air due to a manufacturing fault with a small batch of models. When contacting nobo cool customer service didnt want anything to do with me and told me to go back to harvey norman, after contacting harvey norman they gave me the number of nobo cools senior rep (chez) who was a great help in replacing the unit.

It states the water tank will never need emptying which may be true to an extent, if there is no humidity then it will not need to be emptied but if you live in a very humid area you may need to empty it once every few months.

Also window kit pipe does get very hot

Good – You have to remember this is a portable refrigerative air conditioner -- it's never going to be as efficient as a built-in split system inverter -- and it's not meant to be. We needed a portable AC to cart around and this fits the bill perfectly. Relatively quiet; good cooling performance. No water tank to empty. Good remote control. … Read more

Well-written manual (unlike some other brands). Thermostat works well. On/Off timer. A bit heavy (40 kg) and the exhaust pipe is a bit fiddly.

Great portable Airconditioner! – This is great. It mounts into just about any window and is powerful enough to keep you cool on those hot summer nights! Very powerful and effective with a built in dehumidifyer Loud and only suitable for a smaller room or a big room that you can shut doors to.

Terrible – Purchased in Jan 09 when it was really hot in Melbourne, unless you were sitting right in front of it, it just didn't do its job - even when it was the evening and it cooled down. I would have used the money to buy a proper a/c but when you are renting thats not plausible. I do not recommend this brand. No water tank to change, easy to move around and install, good remote and controls. Noisy unit, doesn't cool down the area it recommends.

Terrible – dont waste your money. this unit would not reduce the temp more tha 2 deg. Creates more heat from the exhaust tube than cooling can keep up with. Total waste of $800. Should have bought a split system instead. Easy to install and operate. Available at Harvey Norman. Very noisy, exhaust fittings poor fit. expensive outlay for poor result.Conned by salesman.

Excellent – Feel that I will have years of enjoyment with this a/c. Bought it on Friday, last, and it was a scorechr on Sat. I cooled an area of more that 60m2 to a pleasant 26 degrees. Easy to relocate. No water. Heavy, hard to move down stairs - upstairs. Exhaust too short.
