Doesn't radiate enough heat – This came with our new house. I'm so glad we didn't buy it. The stupid thing doesn't radiate enough heat. It seems to go up the chimney? We can't figure out where it goes. With 6 hardwood logs, there's a decent amount of heat, but dies quickly with the logs. Standing right in front of the glass is warm but the radius of warmth is less than 1m. It is however well insulated, so the only place you can burn yourself is on the front glass panel. The top could keep a meal warm but doesn't get hot enough to cook. Overall, would not recommend.

Toasty warmth – Cold weather in Australia? You bet, especially when you live on the Great Dividing Range. I live in an old cottage that has no modern design features that make houses easy to heat. On the coldest days, only my wood heater will do. If I want to crank it up, I can open all the doors and it will warm the whole house with its built in front fan and the help of a reverse cycle ceiling fan. It burns efficiently and well. I guess to some extent a wood heater is a wood heater but check the quality of seals ( I just replaced mine, not expensive to do), window glass and metal the box is made from. If you haven't owned a wood heater before, learn about types of wood, what to burn, how to burn it, and how to make sure the wood you buy is not green.
