Oliveri Sinks Questions & Answers
Verifiedhi ,
, we have a santorini black 1 1/2 sink that seems to have a residue on the outside bottom curve. its like an effluresence residue but hard to the touch .its only where the sink walls meet the bottom of the sinks. the sinks dont seem to be leaking,is this normal or should we go further with our enquiry?
Hi I have 2 Oliveri Florence black sinks. Looks like the builder poured something down which has caused some stains - look like paint stains. What is the best way to remove please?
I'd suggest you contact Oliveri ASAP. This sink is not SS, it is moulded granite (80% granite and quartz particles and 20% acrylic). So you need to be really careful. This site may be useful if Oliveri don't advise differently. external link
What volume of water does each bowl hold in a DZ172 sink?
I have a problem with sink strainer, it has 2 positions, the first and smaller position drains very slowly and but still lets particles through, you take out the strainer and need to clean away the food particles. The higher position let’s all particles through. Is this faulty. Kerri
I have the same issue & it drives me mad. This is the worst sink strainer. Did you end up finding a solution? I hate the Oliveri professional sink with the square plug. I’ve had drain problems as a result of this. My advice is it not buy this sink! Beware.
Hey Melissa, no Oliveri have not replied. It’s so annoying
I'm so glad I read all of the above reviews of the Sonetto Sinks - the SN1071 was on my short list for a major renovation to my home - any reasonable person would say that the above experiences of purchasers is APPALLING and it would appear that their complaints have been brushed aside! Oliveri - would you please seriously address the questions below: Questions: 1 Does the current model (SN1071&2) use the same Stainless Steel that was used in previous models? 2 Where is the Stainless Steel manufactured? 3 What is the chemical composition of the Stainless Steel (i.e. what proportion of each of the minerals (by weight) are the components of the Stainless Steel? 4 Where is the SN1701 manufactured - the country(ies) of manufacture? 5 Has the very bad scratch issue been remedied? 6 Has the water stain issue been remedied? 7 Has the "rust" issue been remedied? 8 Who owns the manufacturing plant in Australia? 9 Where is it located? 10 Where do the people who respond to the above complaints reside? I am particularly interested to see how Oliveri answers these questions, hopefully after reference has been made to the technical personnel at Oliveri HEAD OFFICE
After a lot of running around Oliveri replaced the sink under good will Wouldn’t admit it was a faulty sink. The replacement is a great sink and looks great Proves the first sink was faulty (same model)
What model(s) were they please? Good to know it was replaced - wondering whether the replacement is an improved model - they have a bad reputation to climb over to win a goodwill image - let's see if they try. Thanks for your reply. Lawrie
Hi Lawrie, Thanks for reaching out to us. We understand that you want to be 100% happy for going ahead with any purchase. All Oliveri sinks including, the SN1071/2, are made from 18/10, 304-grade stainless steel. 18/10 stainless steel is comprised of 18% chromium and 10% nickel. 304-grade stainless steel also contains no more than 0.8% carbon and at least 50% iron. This grade of steel is one of the most commonly used for kitchen sinks due to its durability and hygienic properties. Our Sonetto sinks are made and imported from China as well as others, our Santorini and Florence sinks come from Italy and we have a number of Australian made products. Our Australian factory is located in Regency Park, South Australia, along with our head office, which is owned and operated by Oliveri. Stainless steel is not scratch-proof and as it is a soft metal, you will see scratches appear with use. However, over time, these scratches blend together and appear a lot less noticeable. Water spots and surface rust can appear on the sink for a number of different reasons, including harsh water conditions, chemicals or juices staying on the sink too long or a build-up of dirt. The best way to avoid these marks is to rinse and towel dry the sink after every use. We hope the above will help to answer all your questions. Please reach out to us or call 8348 6444 you have any other questions. Thanks, Jane from Oliveri
Thank you for answering most of my questions - would you please advise where the persons who cut and paste responses on this forum reside? Thank you for being honest about where this range of products is manufactured (China) - as a matter of principle I will not be purchasing this product because of where it is manufactured & because of the large number of dis-satisfied purchasers. Again, thank you for responding to my questions.
Hi, we have a black granite sink which is marking from calcium in the water. What is the best way to clean the sink to restore it’s original condition?
No idea. Mine is stainless steel, and it is horrible with water staining and scratching. Hate it.
Hi KMR01, I am sorry to hear you are having trouble with your sink. All marks should come off by cleaning the sink with a damp cloth and a mix of vinegar and bicarb soda. Rinse with clean water and towel dry after cleaning. This will work for both granite and stainless steel sinks. If you have any more trouble, please contact our customer service team on 08 8348 6444 or email sales@oliveri.com.au and they will be able to help further. Thanks, Ebony from Oliveri
Glad you asked this question as mine is the same. One is fine but the other is starting to look a bit ordinary. Not real happy but will give the vinegar and bicarbonate and go..
Hi Leanne, the vinegar and bicarbonate didn’t really do much for mine. I’ve got an organic spray just from Coles that is safe for granite that works just as well. Oliveri really should be supplying cleaning and maintenance kits for the sinks. I have heard of people rubbing olive oil or mineral oil on them to restore the appearance.
I am interested in purchasing an undermount Santorini sink in black. I am concerned that you cannot strain pasta water or vegetable water down the sink as it’s too hot. You have colanders that fit in the sink for straining pasta water, etc. If boiling water (straight from the stove) will crack the sink, how can you pour it through a colander in the sink? Would appreciate your advice before I decide. Thanks Ailsa
Hi Ailsa, Our Santorini sinks can withstand thermal shocks and are heat resistant up to 280°C. You can pour boiling water straight from the stove into a colander however we do recommend that you allow water to cool a little before pouring it into the sink to protect the waste plugs and pipes from damage. Thanks, Zara from Oliveri
Thanks Zara. Just to confirm please. If you place the colander in the sink, can you pour your pasta water through it straight from the stove or do you need to let it cool first?
Hi Ailsa, You can pour water straight into the colander in the sink however I would always recommend letting the water cool a little first. Thanks, Zara
I have an Oliveri M070U undermount sink which was installed about 12 years ago in my new home. It has gone rusty both underneath and also within the bowl where rust stains keep appearing. It drops powdery rust all over my cupboard shelves. I have just seen that you offer a lifetime warranty for your sinks. How do I claim a replacement sink? I can send photographs if needed. Thanks Janine
I do not have any knowledge or experience with that sink...
Hi Mendy, Thanks for getting in touch. The best thing to do is to contact our customer service team on 08 8348 6444 or email sales@oliveri.com.au. If you do email, please include photos. Thanks, Zara from Oliveri
Are the Santorini Black sinks suitable for a laundry? Given that many harsh chemicals like bleach, shower cleaners etc are used in a laundry tub? Does using harsh chemicals as you would normally in a laundry sink void the manufacturer's warranty. I love the look and design of these black sinks but after reading the reviews here re: scratching, heat damage etc and also factoring in the high cost of purchasing three of these sinks for my new house build.... I'm really worried. Thanks in advance
Hi Marie, Thanks for getting in touch. Santorini black sinks will work fine in the laundry. However, if you are going to use harsh chemicals on the sink it would be best to give the sink a good rinse after use. Our granite sinks are made to be heat resistant up to 260C degrees however, we do recommend surface protectors in the kitchen as pots straight off the stove can reach up to 600C degrees. These sinks are also scratch-resistant, and if they do scratch, you can buff them out with a bit of elbow grease and multi-purpose cleaner. I hope this helps! Thanks, Zara from Oliveri
Hi Zara. What specifically do you mean by surface protectors?
Hi Marie, We have a couple of stainless steel mats that we recommend using to place over the sink drainer or even on your benchtop if you intend to place hot pots and pans on these surfaces. The mat takes the heat and ensures no damage is done to your kitchen sink or bench. A couple of options are below: external link external link Thanks, Zara
Hi we have had a hot pan put down on the black drainer of our Santorini oliverie sink.It has left like a hazy circle, what can I use to get rid of it . Thanks
Is there a product available to clean and keep my oliveri black composite sink looking great
Hi Vernon, We recommend a quick rinse with hot water and detergent after each use for our composite sinks. However, you can also use gumption or a homemade mix of vinegar and baking soda to help with any nagging marks. Thanks, Oliveri
Hi. I have a black stone oliveri sink. It’s about 3 years old now. The sink itself is perfect however the drain has a constant issue of mould build up just below the strainer section. I’ve tried cleaning with bicarb and vinegar but it’s a recurring issue. The sink is cleaned daily but the mould keeps coming back. I’m worried about using harsh chemicals as I don’t want to ruin the sink but I really need a solution. Any help would be appreciated.
Hi Katrina, We recommend trying gumption to clean the sink and give it a good scrub. However, if you are still having double after this, please contact our customer service team on 08 8348 6444 or email them at sales@oliverisinks.com.au and they will work to solve the problem. Thanks, Oliveri
I have got Oliveri sink has got yellow food stains is it good to use lectric washing soda to get rid of stain in hot water .
Hi Atty, Washing soda can be used on our sinks. The sink should be washed with warm water and rinsed well afterwards, as washing soda contains sodium (salt). If salt is left on stainless steel, it can lead to rust spots. Please let us know if you have any more questions. Thanks, Oliveri
We have a Oliveri whit sink installed two years ago and it is so stained I’m ashamed of it just wondering the warranty .
Hi Debby, Thanks for getting in touch. The best thing to do is get in contact with our Customer Service Team at sales@oliverisinks.com.au or call 08 8348 6444 as they will be able to help with all warranty details. Otherwise, I am happy to pass on your details if you are happy to send them in a private message? I would also suggest to try cleaning the sink with baking soda and vinegar to remove the build up on the sink. Thank you, Zara from Oliveri
Hi we are looking at purchasing Santorini White 1 & 3/4 Bowl Topmount Sink With Drainer ST-WH1510, however after reading some of these reviews I'm starting to reconsider. Therefore is there anyone who has purchased this exact sink, and able to give some feedback. Our concerns are stains/scracthes and cracking from hot water(eg pasta pot water)
Whilst we have not purchased the exact sink we are more than happy with our stainless sink. There is minimal scratches that you will experience with any stainless product, but for innovation and functionality they are excellent.
Thanks, I think I would be more confident if we were buying stainless, however my concern is that this sink isn't stainless it's white so I'm worried by some reviews say their white sinks ( different models) are stained and look dirty after just regular use.
Hi Tam, Thank you for your interest in our products. Our white Santorini sinks do require different care than a stainless steel sink as they are made from a granite composite material. They are heat resistant up to 280°C, however, we do recommend using a surface protector for hot pots which can reach up to 600°C if taken straight off the stove. These sinks are also stain resistant, and often only need a scrub with warm soapy water after use to keep clean. However, if you did find a build-up of dirt over time, cleaning the sink with baking soda and vinegar will do the trick. If you have any other questions, please let us know. Thank you, Oliveri
How to clean and keep the granite Santorini 1/34 sink looking new?
Hi RVG, Our granite sinks are best kept clean with hot, soapy water, a good scrub and towel dry after each use. However, if you find any stubborn marks, cleaning the sink with vinegar and baking soda will get them out. Thanks, Zara from Oliveri
Hello, I have the white santorini oliveri sink and it is very stained and looks yellow in color. I am so upset. I am very vigilant and clean my sink after every use and never leave dirty dishes or spoons or anything that may stain it inside the bowl. I find this sink very high maintenance and want to know why only after 6 months this sink is now looking old and worn. Very displeased as the product disclosure states that it will not discolour. I clean it after every use with soap and water and it doesn't work. My sink looks awful!!!
Hi Sandra, To clean the stubborn marks on your sink you can use vinegar and baking soda or we also recommend Quickleen-S which you can find at most retailers. If you have any more trouble with the sink, please get in touch with our Customer Service Team at sales@oliveri.com.au or call 08 8348 6444 Thanks, Ebony
We moved into a new home approximately 6 months ago. We have the Santorini granite sinks in both the kitchen (double undermount) and laundry (single). I washed a fish tank out in the laundry today and surprisingly there are scratches on the sink from the edge of the fish tank. I can’t believe it! The laundry one is rarely used and the kitchen one is used all the time and not one scratch. Could the laundry one be faulty? Any way of getting these scratches out? If they scratch so easily, I’m worried about what the sink will look like in a few years time. Help please.
Hi Mixy, We suggest trying to buff out the marks on the sink using warm soapy water and the green part of a sponge. However, if this doesn't work please get in touch with our Australian customer service team at sales@oliverisinks.com.au and they will work to solve the issue. Thank you, Oliveri
Thanks for your prompt response. I don’t think they will come out with a sponge but will try. Thanks heaps.
Hi I'm thinking of purchasing the Santorini 1 and 3/4 granite sink I 'm wondering if anyone has installed an insinkerator on one of these granite sinks? and if so, have you had any problems. I have been told that with some of the sink brands installing an insinkerator may breach warranty.
Hi Buggy, Waste disposal units can be fitted into our granite sinks. However, faulty or damaged waste disposal units can cause vibration, which may lead to sink damage and will void the warranty. Thanks, Oliveri
How likely is the colour of the spectra gunmetal to scratch off & stainless colour appear through?
Hi Bec, Thanks for getting in touch. Our Spectra sinks are coloured with using a PVD coating method, which is very durable to everyday wear and tear. The stainless steel is very unlikely to show through unless a deep gouge is made in the sink. Thank you, Oliveri
Hi, When i bought my Black sink it looked satin, semi-gloss black, but after 6 months it looks MATT blackish grey my question is how or what do i clean it with to bring it back to black colour Thanks
Hi Billy, Thanks for getting in touch. We suggest using soap and warm water initially and give the sink a good scrub with the green part of a sponge, or you can also try Gumption which is a little stronger to bring the sink back to its original finish. Thank you, Oliveri
I have recently had a new Diaz double bowl and drainer installed into a new kitchen. I find that the drainer does not drain but instead collects water . Is this a warranty claim?
Hi Damian, Can you please contact our Australian Customer Service Team on 1300 13 7465 or at sales@oliveri.com.au with some images of the drainer or send through your details in a message and we will do everything we can to help. Thank you, Oliveri
what is the difference between Oliveri ST-BL1563U Santorini Double Bowl Undermount Sink and Oliveri Pietro PN-MB1563U. Regards, Nola.
Well thanks for no response.
Hi BlackDragon, My apologies for the late response. If you are still interested the only difference between the two sinks is the colour, the Pietra is a matte black finish, while the Santorini has a speckle through it. Thank you, Oliveri
DANG, We would have preferred Matte black, but we already purchased and installed the speckly one.
We hope you are still happy with your sink. The Santorini speckled finish sinks are our top sellers.
