Inferior, Noisy, Ineffective, Avoid!! – Our family are on holidays this week - our once a year get a way- in a very nice house with the most appalling appliances. So bad that they have spurned me out of bed to get up, in holiday time and write this review. At home we have a base model Bosch machine - it outperforms the Omega in this holiday house in every respect. The Omega machine here is not old, it is not faulty, it is just bad.

The noises it omits are unbelievable,The selection system for programs is clunky and you need to reel through all the options to get back to the beginning - done by turning a knob that is not very accurate.

The bottom drawer if loaded even with a few plates wants to fall into the gap in between to door and the body of the machine. This means lugging it back on track, sounds insignificant, no it does it every time. It is unnecessary and annoying. It would be terrible if you had a bad back, were elderly or for children.

The wash performance is abysmal. With only half a load, prerinse + normal wash selected, all that noise and still it would have been easier to wash up by hand. The dishes are very wet when finished too.

It holds at least one third less than my base model Bosch through poorly designed racking, no cutlery rack and no adjustable top shelf.

If you are contemplating a new machine, spend the same amount a buy base model quality or a little more (I would have loved a Meile) on a water efficient, energy saving machine that will last you for years. You will congratulate yourself every time you turn it on, don't hear it running and it actually does the job it was intended for. Last words: This Omega model is terrible!.......off to review the Omega oven now - that's another sad tale.

Noisy, doesn't wash, wet plates, no space, poorly designed, controls need a rethink, feels plastic.

Door seal constantly releases and wash pump has failed twice in 3 years – Two problems within the 2 year warranty period including replacement of the wash pump motor. Wash pump impeller has recently been damaged by failure of a control solenoid and it is only three years old. Door seal releasing has been an ongoing problem and it doesn't like a tropical humid environment like Cairns.

Good – I used this at a mates house and I must admit it was all right. He said he had no problems with the unit either which was good however he said it's almost worth $900 which I think is a bit ridiculous when you can clearly get a better unit with more functions at a cheaper price. However the unit itself is designed well and the element is concealed to stop burning plastic items. Two years warranty is nice as well but I was impressed by the wash cycle. Washes well. Drys decent as well and the half load function is brilliant. No easy lift up basket like other brands offer.

My DW401XA dishwasher has passed three years and the wash pump has failed internally. There is corrosion in the bottom pan (beneath the pumps) and we had a number of problems within the warranty period which had to be fixed.
