the "Ultimate Sensitive" capsules have a very different formulation from the standard "Sensitive" liquid. These capsules are designed for powerful stain removal and contain multiple enzymes (protease, amylase, etc.) and an optical brightener (Disodium Distyrylbiphenyl Disulfonate). In contrast, the OMO Sensitive Liquid is enzyme-free, which is likely why it has always been safe for my skin.

The "Ultimate" part of the name seems to indicate that its primary focus is deep cleaning, not necessarily gentle care. While it is fragrance-free and dermatologically tested, something in this product makes it a no-go for my reactive skin.

I’m writing this review for other people with eczema, dermatitis, or known sensitivities. Please be aware that this product is not a like-for-like substitute for the OMO Sensitive Liquid. If your skin is reactive to some washing liquid/powder/capsule, I would recommend you stick with the liquid formula.

This may be a great product for tough stains, but for my needs, it did not live up to the "Sensitive" promise.

risk of residue marks on dark colours. I can’t really comment on how appropriate the capsules are for sensitive skin because the smell was so overwhelming after washing that I put everything through another wash with vinegar.

I didn’t want to waste the pods so I took them to my well ventilated shed to get the smell out of the house. I have an older washing machine there for washing horse rugs and thought they might be of use while washing dirty horse gear. I was blown away by how effective the capsules were on horse rugs that had already been washed in powder but remained dirty. I was really pleased with how well they worked and washed an unwashed rug to compare the results. It didn’t need a second cycle, manure and urine were removed after the first wash. I don’t notice the overpowering fragrance after washing the rugs so hopefully after a day or so of airing my horses won’t be bothered by it either.

An important point to raise is the shed machine is filled with bore water. I think this reduces the effectiveness of regular powders but it could mean households on bore water may find these pods really beneficial.
