Omron HEM7121 Questions & Answers
VerifiedMPN: HEM7121Er 87 occurs
Hi there, Please open the battery compartment and check carefully for any signs of corrosion, this is the most common cause of the Er 87 message on the HEM-7121. The metal springs should look bright and shiny; if you see any white or powdery residue, that indicates battery corrosion.
While corrosion isn’t covered under warranty, feel free to call us on 1800 807 464 or email info@omronhealthcare.com.au to discuss repair options , we’ll be happy to help you get it sorted.
Hi my machine hem 7121 is leaking where the cuff plug inserts loosely into the monitor. If I press and hold the cuff plug tightly into the monitor then everything works fine, how can I fix this?
Hi Annie, Thanks for your feedback. If it’s just the cuff or plug, these parts can be easily replaced, you can purchase a new cuff here: external link If the issue is with the monitor itself, we recommend having it checked by a technician. You can find repair details here: external link or contact us on 1800 807 464 or info@omronhealthcare.com.au - happy to work out the best way to get that fixed up for you.
Why my bp machine displays er 87?
There is no such error in the HEM7121 manual (all errors start with E...). What machine do you have?
Hi, Thank you for your feedback. In our experience, error code 87 is usually caused by liquid damage, which unfortunately is not covered under warranty. You can check for visible signs of damage by opening the battery compartment, removing the batteries, and inspecting for any residue that may appear white, blue, or rust-coloured. Additionally, the battery springs should be very shiny; if they appear dull or have discolouration, this may indicate liquid damage.
If you'd like to discuss this further, please don’t hesitate to contact our service team at 1800 807 464 or via email at info@omronhealthcare.com.au. We’re here to help!
Kind regards
Hi I've a Omron high blood pressure monitor HEM 7121 model. I've just changed the batteries. Now the reading I'm getting is 0 E1 can you please explain
My Omron's often display this even when I don't replace the batteries. Mine are unreliable and will buy a different brand.
Error E1 means: Cuff tube not connected, or leaking cuff: ~ Check the hose connex at the cuff end and on the monitor ~ Is the cuff itself leaking? Put your ear close to the cuff and see if you can detect the hiss of escaping air If the hose and cuff are OK, try different batteries next. Omron themselves recommend using Duracell batteries - if you're using another brand, try switching to Duracell. If the Duracells produce the same error you probably looking at a faulty monitor. In that case return the unit to your retailer (hope it's NOT Chemist Warehouse!) My Omron HEM7120 lasted just 3 months then went haywire - will never buy Omron again...
Hi Robert, I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your Omron HEM 7121 after changing the batteries. It's important to use high-quality alkaline batteries. Rechargeable or lower quality brands may not be compatible and can lead to the error E1 you're seeing.
Could you please check that the cuff is also correctly fitted? An improper fit can often cause this error. If these steps don’t resolve the problem, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We’re here to help ensure your monitor works perfectly, and can offer further assistance or arrange for a technician to take a look if necessary.
You can reach our support team at 1800 807 464 or send us an email at info@omronhealthcare.com.au. We’re committed to helping you resolve this swiftly.
Warm regards,
I have omron HEM 7121. Recently I am facing a problem. My machine is not working. Everytime I on it, it shows an empty battery at the left of the corner. I Think that I need to change my battery. So I changed it but still now I am facing the se problem.please give me a suggestion how can I fix it?
My Omron doesn't always work either. Maybe return for a refundcand buy a different brand.
Hi Md, Thank you for reaching out with your concern. What you're observing is completely normal and not indicative of any faults with your device. When you press the START/STOP button, the device performs a brief self-test, displaying all symbols, including the low battery icon. This isn't an actual indication of low battery but a check to ensure that the display is functioning correctly.
You'll notice other readings like SYS, DIA, and Pulse also flash momentarily at their maximum levels. The low battery symbol will only indicate a real need for battery replacement during an active measurement, either while the unit is inflating or deflating.
If your device is not turning on at all to take a reading and the battery symbol is displaying, please ensure you are using good quality alkaline batteries, such as Duracell, energiser, maxell or Vatra. Please note rechargeable batteries, home brand and Everready batteries are not compatible with these machines. Often, the type of battery is the reason the device till not start taking a measurement.
If you require further assistance or have more questions, please don't hesitate to contact us at 1800 807 464 or via email at info@omronhealthcare.com.au.
Kind regards, Customer Service
Every time I take a reading I get different results, I would take a reading 3 times and it would vary from 157 over 107 to 140 over 90. Should I thorw it in the bin and get a new one as I cant rely on this?
Hi Shelia, thanks for your question. Your readings will vary throughout the day, even slightly between readings. Omron recommend taking a few readings within a 10-minute period and averaging these readings out.
there is plenty of info online re this issue. Also note, first few measurements are often higher than the ones that follow. Sit down, take 5 mins rest then measure your BP
I dont mind a slight variance but it is huge in my case, hence the concern, from taking a reading through to 2-3 more readings the variance is as I said in my initial question. To me that is huge so what do you mean by "even slightly between readings"?
am I going to get an answer from Omron to my question please?
Hi Shelia, thank you for responding. The accuracy of OMRON blood pressure monitors have been carefully tested & are designed for a long service life. It is generally recommended to have the unit checked every two years to ensure correct functioning & accuracy. My HEM-7121 has stopped working. It comes up with Er24 message. Can't find what this error message means in the manual. Have tried new batteries and every other trouble shooting method. Any ideas please?
Mine has done likewise. Have not been able to find out why either. Sorry.. I did not even get an error message.
Thank you anyway.
Oh, sorry, I forgot. I enquired about what the problem might be. All I got was a reply that stated they wanted $40 just to look at it. I didn't bother going any further.
No, I wouldn't have bothered either. Thanks again.
Err 24 is most likely a Hardware issue in electronic circuit. please send the device for testing and servicing to Omron service Centre external link

Hi There, Vickie here from Omron. Thank you for your query. Answer is no unfortunately, the device is supplied with an arm cuff and tubing to take a blood pressure reading. We do however have another option - the HEM7600T Smart Elite Blood Pressure Monitor with tubeless technology. I am not sure if I can understand the question. Would have been better understood if more specific.
The machine communicates with the Omron app wirelessly and records the results of your BP in your phone. Which saves you writing them down

I have this model, purchased through chemist 2 years ago. The doctor took me off my night BP medication as at my check-up reading was low (110/70). In the month since, my home readings average out at 141/82. Yesterday the doctor took it again and the reading was 117/84 ...I came straight home and took it again and the Omron read 147/81. This is a huge discrepancy so , presuming that the doctor's machine is regularly calibrated, does mine need to also be calibrated? If so, how do I do that?
we have had no trouble with accuracy. (My wife checks it with the GP and her blood pressure specialist. The 2 page manual available from the website - does not broach the topic of "re-calibration". Sorry! The manual is available as a download(Check your "Downloads" folder) from:- external link
Can you please tell me the error codes for this machine

My Omron 7121 reads typically about 13 mm less than the reading taken at my Doctors (using a flash manually pumped device). What can be done about this?
Ours stopped working after a month - the display started showing nonsense characters. I suggest you take it back and claim a refund - an Aust warranty is 12 months by law. Look for another brand.
