I used to own the Ooni Koda 16 before upgrading to the Ooni Koda 2 Pro, and I can confidently say the Koda 16 is an absolutely fantastic pizza oven. It delivers incredible performance—heats up quickly, reaches high temperatures with ease, and produces consistently amazing pizzas. The larger cooking surface is a real advantage, giving you more… Read more
space to turn and manage your pizzas, especially when cooking for a group. Every pizza comes out with a crispy base, perfectly melted toppings.
What makes it even better is how easy it is to use. The gas setup is super convenient, so you can focus on enjoying the cooking experience rather than managing the heat.
The only reason I moved on from the Koda 16 was to upgrade to the Pro model—not because anything was lacking. It’s a testament to how good it is that I stuck with Ooni when upgrading.
If you’re looking for a high-quality, reliable pizza oven, the Koda 16 is an excellent choice and I’d recommend it without hesitation.
Burnt offerings – Uneven heat which produces burnt rear uncooked front. I tried wood and it turned into a soot dispenser. DON'T do this on a verandah. Coal a little better, still uneven heat=burnt offerings. I then bought a gas converter. Same results burnt in the rear raw in the front. Tired of wasting time and ingredients. Going back to the BBQ it might take a… Read more
little longer but at least it cooks something that is edible. Please don't waste your money on this product. As you can see by the photo it is also covered in tealeaf stains. The Ooni is undercover and obviously only used 3 times due to us not relishing burnt pizza. Poor poor quality.
Disappointed – Have first tried with wood and charcoal and it was a disaster. Then spent the extra funds in the gas and results still poor. Too small to use. Hard to get pizza in oven and to get it out. A ve ry expensive exercise to find out that it is nowhere near the performance of reviews we had seen previously. Hope that this is also posted so that people can invest with caution for this product. Show details
Incredible pizza but rusting fast – Great design and makes the pizza. But it’s rusting fast, also bought the ooni stand and that is rusting after 6 months so the setup is a bit of an eye sore find a place for it around the back. Show details
Cooks pizza ok but very poor quality – I bought one of these about 8 months ago as the father in law loves his pizzas, there compact so good to take camping, there a little aggressive and if you don’t keep constantly turning them your pizza can go in the bin The big down side is the quality, mine has started to rust on the body and the legs, I’ve sent pictures through to there… Read more
warranty department and they said this is normal which I didnt agree with and they were not willing to do any more I wouldn’t recommend this product as they are rather expensive and off poor quality with rubbish after sales
Would not have believed it to be so great – We did a huge amount of reviewing before spending more on the Ooni 16 gas oven. Have had it now around two years. It took a couple of pizzas to get right as they cook so fast. 90 seconds if you do it right. Here are the tricks. Don’t try to build an enormous pizza. Get a wooden peel to launch pizza. We use semolina flour under the pizza to launch.… Read more
Get a turning peel to move pizza as cooking. There is a great ooni Facebook group for tips. So had a party for 30 recently. Cooked pizzas as quick as we could make them. Everyone raved about them. I also bought a. 1200 x 600 stainless steel table off eBay. Works great. Also purchased a spare wheel cover off eBay to cover oven when not it use. That’s a perfect fit. If you are thinking ooni, go for the 16, not the 12. The 16 has more room which makes it more versatile when turning cooking. P.s. some of those attending our party are now seriously looking at buying their own ooni.
My favourite cooking appliance ever! – I wasn’t meant to be shopping for one of these and I may have even been specifically prohibited from buying one- but since when do I do as I’m told? I bought this plus the matching large table and just about every ooni accessory available in Australia. I also bought the very reasonably priced cover because leaving this outside without a cover on… Read more
it, would be silly.
My first few pizzas were disasters… that’s always going to be the case because that’s just how pizza making is. You learn from your mistakes, right?
I’ve owned it for over a year now and I’m officially an expert pizza maker now. Everyone raves about my pizzas and raves about how quickly they’re cooked.
If it wasn’t for my partner making me eat non-pizza foods, I’d probably have pizza every night of the week.
The ooni heats up not a particularly fast- but you won’t starve to death while you wait either. It takes 20-30 mins to get up to pizza cooking temp. This is just a matter of being prepared and planning ahead.
It doesn’t use a whole lot of gas despite heating the pizza stone up to 500+C.
I won’t go into all the tips and tricks of how one should use the ooni pizza oven, just know that you’re going to need to watch some YouTube videos to get it right and you’re going to make plenty of disasters before you get it right… but once you get it sorted, this is going to be your favourite cooking appliance you’ve ever owned too!
I’m pleased I bought the larger one and I’m pleased I got the dedicated gas one too- for those who are trying to decide which ooni pizza oven to buy.
Cooks pizza Great. Will Corrode and look terrible – Pizza oven works great. Not a durable enough exterior for Australian conditions. The black exterior corrodes and looks terrible. If I had known I would have done this I would have looked for a stainless steel model.
