Had the camera run well enough for 2 years, just went off line and cannot be turned back on no matter what I try. Guess the redundancy clock timed out and killed it now the warranty is gone. Was protected sitting under the eaves with IP65. Rubbish as usual steer clear of them. Show details

It started out great easy to setup, app worked well. Was little slow to respond to motion detected but that was fine. Camera’s views is fine and the zoom is great and clear. We were going away for a couple of days and wanted to be able to just check on the house every now and then. On the day we left the one camera stopped working. Try to reset… Read more

it, nothing worked. Even charged it again. So I removed it and we at least had the front camera working. After arriving at our destination the one camera worked for one day and has now been off line for 3 days. Luckily we have someone living in our house to communicated with otherwise we would have had no idea what was going on there? I hope this is something I can resolve.

Awesome, easy to use product – I don't know what these people are whinging about. I bought one, then based on it being so good and easy to use, I bought 4 more. (For the record, the 4 camera's that I bought are external security cameras placed around my property, not the internal one pictured here.) No Ethernet cables required. Perfectly connects to wifi everytime. Also, no need to pay a subscription for storage, just use a memory card. Simple. Show details

Debit card fraud – I bought the Orion Grid Connect camera from Bunnings to keep an eye on our dog when we were out. You have to register with Grid Connect online for $1, no problems there, but the video stream is delayed a hell of a lot, more a case of streaming stills. But it does work ok I guess, good enough for what Ni need anyway. Grid connect is another… Read more

thing: After using my debit card to pay the $1 registration fee, money started disappearing from my account. I went to the bank, cancelled my card and lodged a complaint. The bank examined the activity on my card and advised the unauthorised payments were almost certainly related to Grid Connect. Small amounts at first, then larger amounts until there was only $8 left. All the unauthorosed payments were in US dollars and all had different names. I contacted Grid Connect and told them of my experience, they simply weren't interested, no acknowledgement, nothing. It appears from the addresses/names making the unauthorised payments were either Grid Connect or one of their employees were sharing my debit card details. I've lodged a complaint with the bank, whether I get my money back or not remains to be seen. It was only around $170, but it is annoying that Grid Connect don't seem to care, can't even be bothered answering my email.

Need an adapter from screw to baton – I've had lightbulb security cameras before, first and foremost you will need an adapter screw to baton, the ui is good on the grid connect app, does do event recording quite well but ensure you have a good micro sd card that you install too, wifi pairing does need word by word network name and password, currently working well. Show details

Camera – Hi was told through bunnings that you charge and mount this but I'm guessing it always has to be plugged in for power

Not worth the time – I bought a set of 4 cameras from bunnings today and there just not worth the money or hassle trying to set them up. After triple checking permissions and trying to pair 6 times with no joy I give up. Show details

Hmmm. Each way bet – Pros: Bang for the buck these are ok. The image is good quality, the Grid Connect app gives good interaction and control with overall pleasant experience. This was a replacement for a cheap $35.00 Chinese camera which lasted 10 years. Cons: Marketed as a wifi camera however if you are more than 500mm from the router forget it which means you need… Read more

to spend 2 hours crawling around the roof space installing an Ethernet cable, so much fun. Overall the unit is a prima Donna when it comes to connectivity because everything from router resets (good old NBN) to power fluctuations sems to send it into a tailspin. Overall Ok but maybe could do better.

unit unreliable fake antenna – Sold through out Bunnings Warehouse, this security camera works ok until a power black or brown out it stays offline until I pull the plug, power off the unit and power it on again to get it working online again. No very good when I'm away for a few days. It doesn't make any sense at all because the power went out anyway. It completely failed 2… Read more

months after the warranty, I tried 20 plus times to get it online. Following the instructions nope not connecting so I'd reset it with the reset button, nope won't connect. The unit powers up but that's it. Now another surprise, the antenna is fake it's there just for looks. How do i know? I snapped it off the swivel. It's completely empty, no wire connected to the antenna, go figure.. So no don't buy this rubbish. Look for something else.

Not fit for purpose – I purchased this in March 2023. It was easy to set up and soon captured crystal clear images of vandals in my yard - albeit only because the idiots lit themselves up like Christmas trees (cameras with IR lights, which is all of them now, cannot see through windows at night, unless you have stupid criminals like our locals). I viewed the crystal… Read more

clear video on the app, however, the files then corrupted so I had nothing to show the police - this is the first reason this item is not fit to have the word "security" in its name and actually makes legal action tempting, given that the evidence was destroyed. It continued to function, in that I could view videos after that point on the app. However, at some point it disconnected from my wi-fi network and even with over-the-phone help from Arlec, it could not be reconnected. I don't know how long it has not been working, so it would be too bad if I again needed to try to retrieve video evidence - which I did wish to do again today. On reading reviews, this disconnection seems to be common. So, now the camera does absolutely nothing, in terms of security or anything else, and I'll be returning it tomorrow. It didn't last three months, and given a prime opportunity and an easy target in those three months, did not provide evidence of the known perpetrators with a record of invading local properties. There is nothing "smart" or "secure" about this camera.

Video playback – The downside to Orion cameras is video playback. You can playback on your smartphone, but have to know the approximate time that you want to watch. You cant "fast play" through a recording to search for a specific event. But when you find an event (on playback) that you want to save. You can hit a record button and save to your phone in mp4… Read more

format. Video files recorded to the camera SD cards are in a non standard format. And can't be exported for viewing on your laptop. I think the cameras are good value for money. But dont expect the same level of functionality as systems with separate hard drive recorders. Night vision on internal cameras is adequate. But not good on external cameras.

on all day and this evening, I have set it so it’s not as sensitive , their is no lag with the notifications either , you can make recordings , without buying a cloud account, I haven’t put the SD card , it’s that good I am buying 2 of the Orion outdoor cameras and seeing if I can attach solar panels , I am hooked on this camera I wish I bought it to trial Orion and the app before I buy my outdoor cameras and I am so happy with it , I can’t wait to get more cameras set up

Cannot connect more than one device in any home in Australia – The system sells itself as being able to connect numerous devices to your home but that's just not true. In Australia, even with disabled band steering so that you have two definitive feeds - 2.4g and 5g, you cannot connect more than one device. Once the first device is connected to the necessary 2.4g, that's it. The solution is to only buy… Read more

Almost useless – If you rely on your SECURITY camera for the footage it produces and the ability to download events such as intruders/burglars, etc. forget this piece of junk. Average but limited.. very entry level – The actual camera build is reasonably solid. Resolution is good with average color depth. Setup is straight forward and easy in under 3 minutes. Limited functionality.... ie cannot turn off night-vision (infrared) and the sensitivity is limited.. there are no zones that one can select for monitoring within the camera view. ALso one cannot send… Read more

emails of snapshots taken.. solely reliant on the fact that any intruder has not taken the camera. Good as a budget entry-level camera. Unknown if this camera loops.. so onto the documentation.. very poor. No indication if continuous recording will loop or if movement activated recordings will loop or any expected length of recording on different sized microSD cards.. also no mention of what size microSD card this device is limited to. Night vision recordings are very poor quality... virtually of no use.

Fantastic for the price – Purchased this camera a few days ago to assist monitoring a vacant property. The camera does a fantastic job! Currently, it's paired with a Mobile Broadband modem, as there is no internet connected, and also has a battery backup. Furthermore, we have the camera running off a USB powerbank as a battery backup in case the power goes out. Works… Read more

wonderfully and we have piece of mind :)

The camera takes my 128gb MicroSD despite claiming that 64GB is max. It formatted and uses the whole available capacity. (Formatted capacity is 119.25 gb. I would suggest this would give at least 10 days recording.) Without a MicroSD card, you can only do live viewing, though you can record the video as it streams live to your phone/tablet. This is an extra cost to consider.

There is no way you can disable night vision and the night vision LEDs sadly. It should be noted that unless you have an object near a window when attempting to face the camera outside, the LEDs for the night vision may reflect too much off the glass and blind the camera at night. This is not a problem during the day, of course. We have a bush within 1 m of the window and illumination of that allows the camera to work fine for the most part.

It should also be noted that if you already run the Brilliant or Tuya Home apps, you should be able to pair this and other GRID Connect devices to those apps instead. I found the Brilliant app allows to view multiple cameras at once, unlike Grid Connect. Edit 12/03/21: GRID Connect allows muli-camera view now.

You can't remove the MicroSD card and view the videos on another device as the files are encrypted. This is annoying, however consider if someone stole the camera, without the ability to decrypt the videos they can't obtain anything.

Excellent security camera – This is a great security camera for the price and was installed as a replacement for a $200 camera which had recently failed after less than two years. The camera was easy to install and set up Grid Connect on my android phone. Excellent value and now looking at installing the door bell camera even though it has to be hard wired. Show details

Cannot save video files, defeats it's purpose :-( – Bought from Bunnings Orion Smart Indoor Security Camera Model Number SC336HA. Got it for cheap $39, but the happy story ends here. ultimately they informed me that I can only watch the video stream on the phone app and there was no way to download video files from the camera.

The camera itself saves the video files in an encrypted format on the SD card which cannot be copied onto a laptop.

DO NOT BUY this product if you plan to save the videos on your laptop or any other device.
