The Material Clamp is usless – There is nothing to secure the material clamp to the saw. No locking screw, nothing. Just a lsmooth shaft and a loose hole. Tighten it up and it just moves up and falls out. There is no way that it could work. It's a joke. I had to drill a hole in the back and put a bolt in to get it to function. Also the blade is very poor quality and I had to… Read more
replace it with the blade from my old saw. The dust bag doesn't collect dust at all. Apart from that it works OK for the price.
Poor design and/or poor quality control – Sawing a piece of timber, the blade would chatter in the cut. Observable run out in the saw blade. Straight 90 degree cuts lined up well with the pencil/laser line. Took saw back to retailer discuss the blade chatter and instead of inspecting, the unit was replaced. Replacement saw still chattered when cutting but less so. Laser line on timber… Read more
barely visible and had to be cleaned after every cut.
Back to Bunnings to discuss and replaced with Ryobi for additional $$$
The Ryobi was utter crap. The laser pointed near horizontally and basically not visible on timber to be cut. When i managed to line the pencil line up with the laser line, the saw blade cut 2-3 mm to the right. The Ryobi is being returned. The Ozito for less money was better than the Ryobi overall and felt it had better materials & design.
$10 saw is better (and way cheaper).
excellent value for a DIY tool – reasonably accurate with straight and angle cuts slide arms prone to corrosion unless oiled occassionally. rebate depth guide stop plate has to much give to be accurate. a stiffer metal swing arm will fix this problem. the perfect machine for the home handyman. awesome for the price – I have had my Ozito 254mm for about four years, pre laser guide and it is working just like the day I assembled it. It has done a lot of renovation work. I cannot fault the way the saw manufactured, robust and built to last. The only real issue was the quality of the blade.
It's ok, maybe, for occasional use – I've only used it for basic stuff like garage shelves, and only 90 degree cuts. Pros Very cheap Does a lot of stuff - sliding, bevel both ways. Powerful motor. Great guarantee (3yr). Very good support from Bunnings. Cons The laser is not accurate, and it gets full of dust after every cut or two. I gave up using it very quickly. The base has a… Read more
crack (Bunnings are replacing it for this reason) I knocked the blade guard lever the wrong way which snapped very easily. Dust extraction does not work. The blade is pretty crap. Fences & clamps wobbly but work ok.
That said, it's $199, and well below the price of anything really decent.
If you want it for just a few projects I'd recommend it, but if you want to do stuff regularly as a hobby, probably not so much, and it's specifically not for trade use.
The Ryobi at $299 might be a better bet (Ryobi & AEG are owned by the same company, and the cheapest Ryobi & AEG models are obviously closely related).
Happy customer – Very quiet, nice action, good value for money the laser feature works well the design of the motor angle for mitre cuts is good the only thing I could pick on is the blade quality Show details
I didnt expect much but was still disappointed – Bought unit from bunnings halfway through first week slowed halfway through cut returned for new one. Got new one and tried all afternoon but cannot get one single straight cut laser it comes with is off too useless if it cant even cut straight
