Following my October, 2016 review – I still have the same Ozito 14" chainsaw that I reviewed in October, 2016. It's done a huge amount of domestic felling and has just finished a huge maple tree with the trunk up to 35cms in places. Not one ounce (30 grams) of trouble. I just fitted a new chain (on-line) from the country across the seas. Some tips - any time when the saw is not… Read more

in use ALWAYS (and immediately) put the chain guard on. Even the stationary teeth have a nasty bite if mishandled!...e.g. falling on the saw, dropping on yourself, the saw bumping on your leg while being carried After dismantling and cleaning (even during a lengthy job) make sure you replace the chain with the teeth facing the direction of chain travel. It's not that obvious when re-fitting it. You'll find out soon enough though because there will be no cutting, because the "back" of the teeth is just blunt metal. As the Owner's Manual points out - when the working saw produces sawdust with the consistency of talc powder it's time for a replacement chain. When felling a tree cut boughs so that when they drop they are still partly attached to the tree. With the bough still anchored to the tree I will be easier to saw off suitable lengths up to the tree trunk without the bough bouncing around on the ground where its dropped.

Good luck and safe sawing. Lee.

Great product,at a realistic price – Purchased one from Bunnings,to do some heavy pruning. The saw worked well, and did everything expected of it.At under $100,you can't go wrong, even if you use it occasionally. It certainly beats using a pruning saw,and takes a lot less time, also being electic, no starting problems if not used on a regular basis.  Show details

A good chainsaw – I bought an electric chainsaw because I expected to use it at home, for firewood, and price was a major consideration. So far it has worked well and cut everything I've asked it to (wood only, of course). It runs well, the chain stops instantly when you release the switch (good safety feature, probably standard these days), the oil seems to be… Read more

flowing well - everything works as it should. This is the first chainsaw I have owned, so I'm not a seasoned user, but for a beginner it seems easy to handle and does the job asked of it. I'm getting a bit on the old side, and I needed a light one because of 'old muscles'. This one was chosen partly for its light weight, and I find it quite OK in that respect. Setting the chain tension was easy and the instructions were easy to follow. I have cut logs up to about 30 cm diameter, which takes 2 cuts but that's OK. All-in-all, I'm quite delighted.

Oil Leaks – Nice machine. Does the jobs I want. But.... it leaks oil, all the time. How can I stop it doing so? There must be some way to avert this? The mess is very hard to clean up, and annoying. It is a pity as the saw itself is just great.

Best $80 I've ever spent !!!!!!!! – Two huge trees at least 300mm trunks, one tree 6m high both did need council approval this ozito chainsaw was so impressive I'm a plumber and have used many power tools, the amount of cutting this machine did was unbelievable I was so impressed, I did have to adjust the chain tension a few times but I only paid $80 look this saved me hundreds of… Read more

OK to use once and throw away – Bought this to cut down a small shrub at ground level. It was about 70mm in diameter. The saw really struggled and the chain was very blunt when it had finished. When I had a second one to do it was hopeless. Fortunately the plumber who was helping had a reciprocating saw which was perfect for the job. I have now replaced the chain saw with an Ozito 230v reciprocating saw and this has been excellent.

Waste of time – Needed a small tree down urgently so I went and bought this for a one off job and straight out of the box the chain kept coming off the sprocket. I tried everything to get it to stay on but at the end of the day I wasted all my time putting the chain back on and had to hand saw the tree. I took it back to bunnings and they said they have had lots of them returned as there was a manufacturing design flaw that makes half of them useless.

Great Chainsaw – Unless you're a timber worker petrol chainsaws are a pain. I've had trouble with earlier electric chainsaws but one of my two Ozitos is a gem. The other performs ok but not quite as well. I did once buy one that didn't work. Bunnings replaced it immediately, no questions asked. With a sharp chain on my Ozito. middle of the road – the unit is excellent, easy to handle, cuts well but the oil does not reach the bar. pretty critical problem. obviously a standard fault and most people don't notice until too late. i will return it to Bunnings but for the price it is not worth rotating through the store. wonder whether just let it die and move on

New Electric Chainsaw faulty – The Ozita Electric Chainsaw I recently purchased proved to be useless. The chain loosened during numerous attempts to cut small width gumtree branches. The Ozita Customer Service response was "this never happens, it must be that you are using the Chainsaw incorrectly." Annoying response from Ozito to blame the operate not their cheap and useless chainsaw. No more Ozita products. Back to Bunnings for a refund.

ozito electric chain saw – DAM my poor little saw stopped. Nobody should have to work as hard. If they had a union I would have been charged with slave labor. Will try and fix it but will buy another if I can't fix. Might just need brushes anyway good buy if your after a hard worker.  Show 3 replies

Great for limited work – At $89 you really get what you pay for. After reading other reviews, I was a a bit concerned about oil distribution problems, however if you follow the instructions and run/test the saw over a couple of pages of white A4 paper there is evidence that the lubrication system is working. In comparison to my old GMC [? E] this little gadget uses far… Read more

Nifty Little Performer – I was surprised by this $89 chainsaw from Bunnings. I was expecting hassles but it worked fine felling and cutting two tall trees. Pro's: Instructions were in English, easy to read and well laid out with headings and diagrams including instructions on felling, limbing, bucking and pruning. Not too noisy but with prolonged use I’d use earmuffs.… Read more ·  1

Ample power for it’s intended use - my thickest tree was 22cm in diameter and (because the chain was new) it cut through easily. The chain brake was brilliant – push forward to stop and back to operate – was using it a lot. The brake will automatically engage on kickback. Cons: The bucking spikes that dig into the wood before cutting are too straight and don't start low enough. I could see this before I bought it. It also goes through a reservoir of oil (125ml) fairly quickly but not excessively. Price, instructions, power and chain brake Bucking spikes, oil consumption

Cost of spare parts is outrageous – I misplaced the Bar Securing Nut whilst having the chain sharpened. The cost of a replacement from Bunnings was $13.54. It is just a nut and not made of precious metal or gold and would probably have cost no more than 10c to manufacture. When I rang Ozito it became quite apparent that the cost to Bunnings was unbelievaby excessive and that… Read more

the cost was not due to an excessive mark-up by Bunnings. I repeat it was just a nut. Initial cost inexpensive. If anything goes wrong the cost of spare parts is obviously ridiculous. Use it and throw it down the tip

It could have been 4 stars if the oil pumps worked. But two of them in succession failing is two too – On my wife's insistence the two small elm trees had to go. At my age cutting by hand or a heavy petrol chainsaw was no option. From Bunnings I sought advice and the nice man told me that the Ozito electric at $89 would be the right choice for occasional use. I followed assembly instructions precisely, filled it with 120 mls oil and greased the… Read more

toothed front sprocket. The instruction called for a bedding in of the chain and a re-tensioning. I held it over a piece of newspaper to see if it sprayed oil...as per instructions and ran it. No oil spray! I checked everything and still nothing. I rang Ozito and a real charmer of a young lady in response to my query about an oil flow adjuster replied no and asked me to return it to Bunnings.

No problems, there was an immediate swap. I repeated the assembly procedure and tested the machine and....NOTHING! No oil spray. I thought then that maybe it had to get warm for the oil to flow. So I cut my green elms down with no trouble at all. It is powerful and easy to use. I checked after I had finished and it had not used ONE drop of oil. None at all! So this is the second Ozito chain saw in which an oil pump does not work! ON a $89 chain saw probably the chain is going to cost a quarter of the price.

Today I return this saw to Bunnings. Maybe a Ryobi at $139? They were light powerful, cheap and easy to use. The oil pumps on both of them did not work.

Good, Cheap, Easy to use Electric Chainsaw – I don't use a chainsaw regularly but we bought this one to use around the house for pruning our trees and bushes. For this task it does the job well. Our only problem has been the chain has come off once or twice (need to ensure the bolt is done up… Read more ·  1

Cheap but does the job well – At under a $100, this was assumed to be a "once in a while" usage proposition. So far, it has cut an impressive number of trees down and accompanying branches without a hitch. The chain brake is a great feature, where the chain stops dead as soon as you lift off the trigger (the motor keeps rolling, but disengages from the chain). Chain brake, price

Piece of garbage – I bought an Ozito chain saw and it is the bigest heap of garbage and a complete waste of my money I got it going and it lasted 15 minuts and has not gone again even renewed spark plug no go. My mate bought one about 3 months ago and he has not been able to get it going at all. Take my advice don't touch anything Ozito.

Ozito Electric Chainsaw 1800w Cuts Down Adult Palms – I wanted to cut down a very tall adult palm cheap as possible for a one off job. I read some good reviews on this product and in my past experience Ozito has been reliable for tough cheapies eg; angle grinder, jack hammer, drop saw so I thought id give their 1800w chainsaw a try for $100 rather than rent a petrol for $150 plus. I thought if I kill… Read more

it by the end I'm happy and still better off than renting and if it survives the job then bonus. Outcome - Cut like a knife through butter, the whole tree into foot long pieces ready to add to the bin 1 by 1 each week. It took an afternoon including fussing around with harness adjustments etc.

Took the chain and bar off soaked in Kero brushed out the palm fibers, had to use a thin long steel tweezer prong to get it out of the bar groove and bar end sprocket. Oiled it down good as new! Cheapest palm removal ever! (that i've done) $100 chainsaw + $10 for extra chain oil + $50 for tree climbing spikes, borrowed mates climbing harness. $160 bucks done and have a chainsaw now! Would have been even cheaper ( $110 total) but didn't have room to drop it whole and had to make tree climbing spikes to get to top. (spikes are very dangerous I don't recommend without experience!!)

Tips To Note When Cutting Down Palms!!! (or any tree generally)

1.Check wind direction as wind can force tree back over bite direction - crown if possible first (cut off palm fronds to reduce wind purchase) and or use a pull cord where possible (if using pull rope always leave more space from trunk to where rope pullers stand than the actual height of tree, use gloves and never wrap pull rope around body or limbs) & or wait for no wind!

2. If using a climbing harness get experienced supervision, be very careful never to put hands or arm in the bite (this is the notch cut for fall direction) sounds obvious but easy to forget and do if trying to adjust your position when climbing. Trunk may seem secure but a small breeze can be enough to trigger the fall (crushing anything in the bite!) gladly I haven't had this experience myself.

3. Palms are highly acidic and will kill chainsaws if not cleaned thoroughly. I soak bar and chain in kero or similar agent after cutting palms and I scrape out all palm fibres straight after job with a thin steel object and coarse brush. Give extra attention to bar groove and bar end sprocket together with chain when scraping and brushing. Oil up before storage.

4. Trunk fibres are full of water and super heavy, the bigger the peice the larger the dent in the ground where it lands however smaller pieces mean more cuts and dents!

5. Ozito 1800w electric chainsaw can bring down adult palms no prblems in my experience! Big fan of Ozito for cheap capable tools. Cheap, Durable, Sufficient Power

unreal!!! great value – Bought this chainsaw like others did after reading these reviews. I was going to hire a stump grinder to remove a palm tree stump very close to a swimming pool. Better than expected! – We bought this from Bunnings for $99 as a replacement for one of a different (well-known) brand, which had failed. In short, it is worth every cent! into smaller firewood pieces, or to cut up branches into kindling wood, but what it is designed to do, it does extremely well.

Importantly, it has a row of teeth on the body which engage with the timber, allowing you to cut an arc, which makes cutting easier.

It has an interlock system which requires you to push a lever before you can start it.

It also has an automatic chain brake which engages INSTANTLY when the trigger is released. The chain stops moving instantly.

It comes with all tools necessary for adjustment and the limited maintenance which is required.

It is backed by a two-year replacement warranty.

We've had ours around three months, and it's one of the best investments we could have made. Inexpensive, good warranty, safety features, ease of use.

a good tool, exceeded expectations – I bought the Ozitio 1800W electric saw yesterday, I have never had anything to do with chainsaws before that. finish the job with the Ozito. Anything less would be like pulling one of your leading goal-kickers off in the last 5 minutes of a grand final after they had kicked 8 goals ! The base was about 750mm in diameter. Those of you who can add will have realised that this leaves about 40mm that the saw can't get to but by then it was ready to snap anyway. If I could put the picture on here I would. I am an engineer by profession and I am super impressed by this saw. It has done 3 other slightly smaller trees since and doesn't look like stopping yet. Ironically the safety harness I bought in case I fell out cost 4 times the price of the saw. I paid $50 for this brand new on Gumtree because some bloke felt it wasn't manly enough for him and asked his wife to get rid of it.
