I got this cordless lawnmower for $179 from Bunnings, after my previous corded one conked out. I didn't really want to spend too much (cordless ones tend to be pricey) and I thought I'd gove this one a go, when I saw a whole stack of them in Bunnings. It's a kit, so it also includes one 4Ah battery and charger . I was a bit worried about the 18V… Read more
operation, as the 36V ones would be more powerful and last longer but my wallet said no to those. We have a relatively small overall lawn area (<75m2) in small patches here and there and I was getting tired of pulling the extension cord everywhere. It turned out OK, though. It was easy to put together. All areas can be completed on one battery charge. We don't have heavy grass or tall weeds and if you have that, it may not be suitable but for realtively easy jobs, it's an excellent value lawn mower. Even a family member who is fussy about usability issues, thought it was OK, after using it. It's also not too noisy, which is nice. I'm not sure how long it will last but it seems reasonably solid for an entry level thing. The brushless motor reduces maintenance needs and there is a higher capacity Ozito PXC battery available should the job be a bit larger - or you can just buy an extra battery like I have done. I'm sharing a set of PXC batteries among a few Ozito power tools that I have. The 330mm cutting width is not massive but workable and larger than the entry level 300mm "toy" lawn mowers. There is one weird feature, the "security key". I think it's meant to stop accidental starts when removed, for example during maintenance. However, the manual doesn't adequately explain this. Once it's removed, it's a loose item which is easy to lose. It's more of a nuissance than help. They could've done something better. Also, the battery is fiddly to insert but these are relatively minor annoyances. In summary, the PXLMK-1833 is a great choice if you need a light duty, no fuss lawn mower and you don't want to spend too much money. Not for a heavy duty job but quite usable and great value.
