Perfect! – This shaver is sensational. I bought it five years ago and haven't had to replace anything in that time. Usually I've had to replace foils on others shavers within six months, even sooner sometimes. Absolutely brilliant! Wish I could find another one as a backup.

Best Bang For Your Buck – I'm glad the guy at the Shaver Shop upsold me on this model. I went in to buy a run of the mill Braun Series 3 as a backup shaver for the days I missed my wet shave and would shave on the go. This shaver is so good and so enjoyable to use as a result that I have now switched my shaving habits away from wet to the electric. Even though this… Read more

model does a wet shave, I haven't tried that feature yet (had it for 2 weeks so far) I am finding no problems with a dry shave. My face is so smooth I can honestly say that this is the first time I have used an electric shaver that gives the same or a better result than a traditional wet shave. Enough to me me a convert - at least until something goes wrong but hopefully not. The shaver has a good solid build and fee about it. Pros are the 1 hours full charge and it is washable. It was also extremely well priced on special at the Shaver Shop chain. 2 Year warranty. All hard to beat features.

At last – I have been shaving for 60 years, using every conceivable type and make of razor and the panasonic es8101 is sensational. Sitting in my shaving cabinet are remingtons, phillips, both cheap and very expensive, but the panasonic is streets ahead. Very smooth, light and comfortable in the hand and glides over the skin. My search is over. Thank you panasonic. All of the above.  Show reply

A disappointment. I expected more from Panasonic! – I have 2 other electric shavers - another cheaper Panasonic and a Remington. Both glide over the skin and cut closely without any irritation. These are the 2 main qualities I expect from any shaver. Not too much to ask? After shaving with many electric shavers for over 25 years I expected an expensive Panasonic would do the job even better.… Read more

Unfortunately I am very disappointed with this shaver.

It drags on the skin leaving your face at the end of the shave feeling hot and chafed. And probably, this shaver's most irritating failing is its inability to shave the hair on the upper lip.

The shaver has to be pushed hard and slowly to cut effectively.and it needs several passes to do the job properly.

Panasonic I like some of your shavers but not this one. The technology and quality manufacture. This shaver drags on the skin and leaves your face chafed and sensitive. It also has difficulty shaving hair on the upper lip and under the chin.

The old debate of Razer Blades verses Electric Shaver – I stopped using electric shavers about 20 years ago. I owned a Philips and a Remington. I found I got a better, quicker shave from using Razor Blades. Over the years the price of razor blades have been getting expensive. They cost around $5-$6 each for a good brand. If you use 1 blade a week, that's at least $260 a year. Replacement Electric… Read more

shaver blades for this model cost $39 and $39 for the foil. Even if I changed both blade and foil twice a year, I would still be financially ahead. So I started looking at Electric shavers again. After 20 years they must give you a better shave right?

Electric Shave Wet or Dry.

I purchased this model based on reviews, but also it was marked down from $350 to $99 at The Shaver Shop which helped make the choice easier. Note- the only difference between the ES8101 and ES8109 model is a cleaning unit. The shavers themselves are identical apart from an LCD screen showing a charge level instead of a green/red light. ES8109 model was $60 more, and the cleaning juice cost $19. Based on reviews of the ES8109 there could be an issue with extra wear on the blades being caused by the cleaning unit. Just a theory. Anyway, back to this model ES8101

This model feels solid in the hand, but the head is plastic and light, and I doubt to would survive being dropped on its head, but I guess all shavers have that issue.

I can confirm this shaver will give you a shave as good as a razor blade, but it is inconsistent on certain parts of our face. The sides of your face and top lip have the best results, your neck and chin areas require more work to get a good cut. You have to go back to using a razor blade to get ingrown hairs, the shaver just can't get them. You need a good mirror to make sure you haven't missed any areas, which is very easy to do.

It takes a little longer to shave with an electric. Cleaning it takes a little more time. It has a special cleaning mode, where you hold the power button for 10 sec, the blade goes into a sonic vibration and you just wash it under water. Cleans up very well, unlike to old shavers which you couldn't wash under water. I tried shaving wet, but it was too messy with shaving cream falling off my face and shaver everywhere and unable to see where you have missed. So I've kept using it as a dry shave.

The benefits of reduced ongoing shaving costs, entry price point, good as a razor shave and you never cut your face, make this model is a winner for me. Going costs of this Electric Shaver are cheaper than buying Razor blades every other week. Shaves as good as razor blade on "most" areas of you face. One power charge lasts over a week of use. Replacement blades and foils cost only $39 each. Easy to keep clean.
