Truly excellent picture, with some 'quirks' – Probably the most balanced picture out of the big 3 brands using this panel. User Interface is intuitive and responsive (unless using the Freeview EPG), if not a bit bland by comparison to what some other brands use. But certainly far better than the laggy UI my old Sony Bravia had. Sound quality from built in speaker was surprisingly good, but… Read more · 1
naturally I use a sound bar and external 5.1 set up. It records to my USB Hdd perfectly and with the twin tuner I can record one channel and watch another simultaneously. Also I can control all my connected devices with the single remote which works great. All-in-all it's an excellent TV, and I'm very happy, however, there are few things that are 'less than ideal'. For example: Limited full speed HDMI ports, - No series record feature with EPG, - Freeview interface is super laggy, - CPU not powerful enough to stream videos over Plex from my media server, however it does a reasonable job coping with Netflix - WiFi can be a bit temperamental and doesn't support 5Ghz, - Despite the OLED panel being very thin, the rear of the TV is mostly dominated by the interface connection box/panel, which sticks out by another 3-4cm and consumes about 70% of the rear. So that doesn't leave much of super thin OLED the panel to show-off to your friends. - My last gripe is that my TV used to randomly turn off and go standby (as another reviewer has also mentioned!), and support were not much help in finding the cause. Eventually I worked out it was related to the HDMI ARC power settings. Basically whenever an device connected to the ARC port would go to sleep (in this case it was my SONOS sound bar and/or NVIDIA Shield) it was also trigger the TV to go standby. Sometimes it wouldn't turn back on unless power fully disconnected. Anyway, resolved by disabling ARC HDMI power saving mode (or whatever it was called).
Good picture quality but glitchy – This OLED television has great picture quality but is constantly glitching. So many times the TV has turned itself off and the light flashes so you have to unplug the socket from the electrical switch and wait a few minutes then put it back in. Very frustrating. It also doesn't automatically reconnect itself to the wifi if the wifi drops out, you… Read more
get a notification that there isn't any internet and you have to faff about with the controller to get it to re-check the connection.
Perfect blacks and a good looking tv – The tv was an upgrade to an excellent Panasonic plasma. The picture is stunning on full HD and 4K sources. Where it lacks is the upscaling of standard definition content, such as Foxtel the previous plasma did a better job. Also worth noting in some circumstances there is judder with motion across the screen. Smart functions are good. The menu… Read more · 1
isn’t as fancy as Samsung’s however it’s snappy, loads the apps well and is reliable. Doesn’t have the variety of other brands however Netflix, Prime, iView all work well
Good TV, but limitations – Decided to update to a newer smart 55 inch TV about 12 months ago. Did my research, and this model came up fairly well - good clear picture, easy to set up, works well with my sound system and Netflix etc, but cannot get Freeview for any of the commercial channels (not on the menu and cant import them), then a couple of months ago one of the USB… Read more
plugs stopped working and cant record TV shows. A good basic TV, but if I knew about the limitations, I would have stuck with Samsung or Sony. I have had these in the past, and no problems.

Support Non Existent – The unit was purchased 6 months ago. The first couple of months it functioned reasonably well. I have a Bose 650 connected via HDMi and Apple TV. In the last 3 weeks the unit started to pixellate and could only be fixed by turning the unit off and on. The unit then lost the menu system on the Apple TV and needed to be turned off for extended… Read more
periods to allow it to reset. Note that the Apple TV is only a direct connection device and that the Panasonic does not need to run anything on it. The unit now no longer supports the HDMI at all. Panasonic state that connecting to the HDMI 2 port allows it to control all devices. This is not the case. On the first call I explained that I have 4 issues and their answer was to send a photo of the pixellation and they will get back to me in a few days. They were not interested in the other issues and simply suggested a repair agent and they would see if it was a warranty issue. I have contacted Panasonic support on 4 different occasions and their basic premise if that they will provide a service agent number but it is up to you to deal with it from there. The only option left was to return to the retailer and explain the situation. They were shocked by my treatment and have agreed to return the unit. In any purchase there will be times when it requires support and/or service, my experience on a $5000 OLED unit is that Panasonic are not prepared to provide any real support. It seems to be a case of buyer beware. I cannot recommend this product or Panasonic. Do not waste your time and money. Buy something of quality from a manufacturer that stands behind their product.

Excellent, true to life picture quality – I have used my new TV for 7 months now, and I can honestly say that this OLED 4K TV is the best Panasonic TV I have had yet. It's true-to-life picture quality is remarkable, it makes watching sport feel like you're there. Movies are cinema-quality, and everyday shows - sharp and clear. I fine-tuned the settings to achieve the best picture and… Read more · 1
sound quality (I found you tube experts with a step by step guide). This is important if you want to make the most of the TV quality. Although 4K shows are still limited, it's the way to go as more and more 4K shows are added, especially on cable channels.
Excellent TV – Great picture you can only get from an OLED and this is one of the best out of the box from the current crop. It won HDTV test for best TV in 2018 and have been really impressed so far. Screen is free from any defects such as vertical banding, only downside is it lacks support for Dolby Vision but does have HDR10+. It does Upscaling and motion handling better than the LG OLED'S but not as good as Sony, although it does come very close. Show details · 1
The BEST TV you can currently buy in 2019 – Firstly i should state that i work in the AV installation industry. I install and configure all brands and types of TVs on a daily basis for both consumer and commercial. I get no kickbacks from any brands nor do i have any other allegiances at all. These Panasonic 'FZ' OLED TVs (2nd generation OLED) are simply the best consumer TVs available at… Read more
this current time. They have the most accurate and stunning picture out of the box (on the correct setting) and at a price point that beats many of the other OLED brands in performance and value. For many years Panasonic has been the leader in consumer TV tech and once again they have proved that experience counts when it comes to quality picture and image processing. Can't fault it, highly recommended!
Great TV with some minor details missed – On a technical level the TV is great. Crystal clear TV, good HDR support, Great sound even without a soundbar. But with missing things like, Stan (Streaming service), and an option to change audio tracks for videos its a little distraction from how good the TV is visually. If they fix a couple small problems here and there it would be 5/5 stars.… Read more
By adding stan it would go up to 5, but for now its a fantastic TV with some small issues overlooked.
Perfect picture - but energy consumption higher than advertised – First, I'd like to declare that I did not buy this TV: I had to enter the purchase date of today, to be able to submit this review - and by all means: If I would not be organized I would have BOUGHT and RETURNED it today - I intended to buy it: I have spend a pretty long time in the shop observing the picture quality, and I was allowed to connect… Read more · 1
my power meter.
Picture quality: Perfect. Real dark black and fabulous colours (in dynamic mode)
Problem: The Energy rating sticker says 439kW/year (when watching 10 hours a day):
When converting this information into something useful, you will get:
439000 / 3650 (10 times the days of a year) = 120W
Measurement for the power-meter: Extremely fluctuating: permanently quickly changing consumption to all kinds of values between 120W and 300W, mainly though around 200W. The consumption totally depends on the image on the screen: Dark night time pictures: 120W, bright daytime pictures: 240W, perfect red screen: 300W.
Note also: You'll get a real good picture only in dynamic mode. And the energy consumption of dynamic mode is about 10-20% (hard to say during these massive fluctuations) than the consumption in Standard mode, to which the sticker refers, but 120W + 20% is still less than 300W..., i.e. the sticker is wrong.
Surely, if you find a movie, which depicts night-scenes only and have that on running 10 hours a day for a year, the consumption will be 439kW/year. But that would be probably of interest only for the guy behind the red door of the IT crowd... ;)
Yes, I was really sorry that the measurement turned out that way (would have loved to buy the 55FZ for it's picture-quality), but since one watches TV at times when the electricity is most expensive (in the evening), electricity consumption is paramount!
Thus, instead I bought today a Panasonic TH-55FX600A, and I am quite happy with it. I'll write a review about it.
Cheers, Peter
Great OLED TV, huge step from LCD – OLED, any of them, is going to be a vast step above other LCD TVS. The Panasonic is a superb picture. I use this TV almost exclusively for Xbox 1 X. IT's built in "smarts" are good enough, but nothing special. When Setting up your TV, do not skip ahead and skip the EULA option, as the HDCP will block Visual images until you have signed the Eula… Read more · 1

Absolutely imperative for 4K TV's, especially high end ones, is the input feed. A bad source, like Free To air TV, bad Torrents on Thumb stick and Low resolution iView/YouTube are going to look crap. That content is going to look crap on ANY TV. You NEED good internet to stream YouTube/Netflix at 4k, or they will shove the resolution down, and you won't be watching full 4K.
I bought this TV the same day as an LG LCD, the LG is very good, but the OLED is vastly better.
CON: Every time the unit is powered off at the main it needs a full factory reset to re-accept terms and conditions to HDCP content restrictions. So stuff (Xbox, Chromecast) will have audio, no image.
