Hate it – I'm surprised this camera is so expensive and rates so highly. I am so disappointed with it. The connectivity with the Image app is woeful. It is so hard to take photos remotely or send photos to my smartphone, as the camera either doesn't connect or disconnects rapidly. We have tried with 3 different phones - same problem, so it's definitely… Read more
the app/camera.
The photos are very average in vibrancy and quality. A bit washed out and not sharp regardless of mode.
The touch screen is overly sensitive, which leads to settings and focal points changing often when you don't want them to. It is also dim, so very hard to see on a bright day.
The manual modes are not intuitive and very fiddly so you need lots of time to set up a shot.
The auto mode can't seem to handle things like backlighting, low light or moving objects adequately. My smartphone is actually better.
The only positive about this camera is the reasonable battery life. I'm going to try sell it or trade it for something else. It was an expensive mistake.
High survivability ! – Left the camera out in the yard overnight accidentally. It rained. Next morning camera had water in the view finder. Camera wouldn't turn on. Hardly surprising. Salvaged the battery and memory card. Dried up the water that leaked out. Bought a new TZ220. Put the salvaged battery into the new camera. Wouldn't turn on - battery flat. Charged the… Read more · 1
battery. Put it back into the drowned camera. Turned on and started working ! Incredible. And water has disappeared from the view finder.
(From past experience of having the neck strap on a camera fail while I was taking photos of small life in oceanic rock pools fully expect that internal components will rust out and don't expect the camera to last long. But very impressed that it works at all.)
... and 18 months later (December 22) the internal components haven't rusted out after all. Still using the camera. Haven't used the new TZ220 I bought on the expectation of this one dying.
Camera Lumix 220 TZ has been replaced with a new very good TZ220 – Tested this Camera for the last 2 months with different settings never got sharp pictures in autofocus most pics are over exposed. Owen a Canon 750 D / 800D M3 & cheap Sony WX350 ( Compared WX 350 pics Lumix TZ 220 ) but Sony WX350 are most time better. This TZ 220 is impossible to use for quick shots autofocus is always moving. Panasonic left a phone no but no reverence no could not talk to somebody this camera is real rubbish. Show details
Great travel camera – This TZ220 is a quality item I haven’t used all the functions yet, it is a step up from the TZ70. It’s a bit thicker and heavier so a little bit bulkier to fit in my pocket , The improvement in image quality over the TZ70 was what I was after. I have sold my heavy NIKON D700 and happy with my TZ220. This camera can do some great things like HDR and allows pics you normally need high skill set to produce great pics. Show details · 1
Awesome camera. Highly recommended for travelling – Have had the TZ220 for a month now, and it is great. Video is really good, especially 4k. Images are bright and colour is not over saturated. There are still many features I have not tried yet, but I am working through them. I thought the fixed LCD screen would be an issue, but no, I'm not big on selfies anyway. It is a great screen with good… Read more · 1
colour representation. I could go on but no time, just buy one a try for yourself, you won't be disappointed.
Mediocre Image quality with focusing all over the place – This camera has all the specifications to make it a brilliant travel camera and in some respects, I was sorry to part with mine. As with other reviews, I found my TZ30 better when it came to colour, contrast and focusing. Image quality was mediocre and focusing was all over the place, with low light photographs often grainy. As a result, far too… Read more
many photographs were blurry with washed out colours. The touch screen is way too sensitive as one can easily lose ones settings just by carrying the camera switched on, ready to use. Viewfinder is great except the bluish tint that is off-putting. After some use, zooming in and out became noisy and at times, the camera sounded as if it were about to seize. The on/off switch has to be the worst I have ever seen on a camera and I accidently switched my camera on countless times without realizing it. So for a travel camera, not good at all as sooner or later, the on/off switch is going to be bumped and if in a hard case, the lens is going to push out against this and may even damage the camera. For what it delivers, this camera is way overpriced.

Camera Image Lacks Vibrancy – I own two Panasonic Lumix TZ30 cameras and found them to be fantastic. I thought I would upgrade to a TZ220 to get the advantages of a bigger sensor area to get sharper images & better night shots. The TZ220 delivered the results I was looking for BUT the pictures taken on the TZ220 are not as vibrant as the ones taken on my TZ30 cameras. The… Read more
colours look washed out by comparison and while the old TZ30 gives a clear impression of whether the photo was taken in bright sunlight or overcast conditions, the TZ220 leaves you guessing.
I corresponded with Panasonic, Sydney for over a month via email sending them images taken on each camera (TZ30 and TZ220) and they never once acknowledged any difference in the images taken. They implied that any differences seen must be due to operator error, even though I only ever operate each camera on iA (intelligent auto) mode.
My recommendation...... save some money..... buy the TZ30.
