Don't Buy It Is A Lemon - And They Won't Fix It For You!!! – Here are the facts - this camera says it can function to 13+ meters in depth. It can't. It is a lemon that can't even go past 1 m. The seal leaks - the camera zaps itself. Then - you get to deal with the great people at panasonic - who basically tell you prove you bought this. If not you fix it yourself. Its a lemon - do not buy this piece of worthless junk.  Show details

Not waterproof – Have used this camera about five times underwater. It failed twice, once was replaced by panasonic (under warranty). The other time it was out of warranty. After follow instructions to a tee, it is not waterproof. Piece of rubbish, would never buy again.

Waterproof it ain't! – I used my DMC-FT2 for a total of 5 hours underwater. I never exceeded the depth limit, maintained it 100% as per instructions. Water penetrated and the camera is now ruined. Panasonic not interested as it is out of warranty. I purchased mine at a run out price and would be really angry if I had paid the original full price. The snorkelling tour… Read more

operator we were with when it died said that it was one of many Lumix "underwater" cameras that he had seen do the same thing.

Bad product. The picture quality (for 4 hours and 55 mins) It is supposedly an underwater camera, to 10 metres, that allows water in at less than 1 metre.

The camera will not recognize original battery – We used the camera for two annual holidays, warranty just expired when we got back from the second trip we could not down load photos as a display states...camera will not recognise battery. We paid $520 for this camera and do not won't to throw any more money into getting it fixed ,to have it happen again.Googled issue and other people have same… Read more

problem.Nothing wrong with battery I had it checked by a local camera shop. Takes good pictures. We feel ripped off after paying full price ,now you can buy this camera for half the price we paid.If I pay another $250 to have it fixed, this is the same price as a new one.

Panasonic LUMIX DMC – no back up from Panasonic for the LUMIX DC Original Fault - OUT OF FOCUS PICTURES - went to warranty agent twice in warranty and once out of warranty time, all the same original fault.Panasonic said sorry, but will give discount on new camera - not going to happen! Local camera shop assistant was shocked after I produced all the paperwork. I am… Read more

Terrible – Good camera but not waterproof as advertised so therefore not worth paying the extra for it's durability as it doesn't work. Poor customer care from Panasonic. Not interested in customer satisfaction at all. Good camera, great lens. NOT WATERPROOF This camera leaked on first use underwater at a depth of < 0.5 metres whilst snorkelling. … Read more

Instructions issued by Panasonic were followed 100% before during and after the underwater experience. Caused massive internal damage to the camera and Panasonic warranty only covers for repairs not replacement of camera which it should if it has been water damaged. VERY DISAPPOINTING

Excellent – This camera is a versatile travel camera and also great for family shots and many special effect photos including video. This camera was all it promised and more. I used it whilst backpacking for two months in Spain (during some very wet weather) and it was dragged out of the pack many times and put back again and it certainly is tough. The screen… Read more

has not marked.I have also used it underwater in the pool at home and it is waterproof. The macro setting can produce great photos, one of which I have had printed on a large canvas 90 x 60cm and the flower is sharp. The video quality is faultless and easy to use. Its difficult to think of a negative comment.

Good – So far this has been a great camera which I love to use and a huge step up in quality from our previous Pentax waterproof camera. My only reservation about it is that we previously had an FT-1 model which let in water. The retailer sent it away to Panasonic who assessed it and couldn't find a failure in the camera itself; however they did replace… Read more

it for us. If you want all the quality & features of an ordinary compact with the added bonus that you can occasionally use it in the water, I'd recommend this model. Easy to use, has a decent zoom for a compact, sharp autofocus and great quality still images. Love the double flash as I'm a notorious blinker - since we've had this camera there are no more photos of me with my eyes shut! The one touch movie function is excellent as you don't have to fiddle around to change mode. Sound quality on the video is very good too. Seems to live up to its waterproof name so far, we've had it for 4 months & used it in the pool and at the beach. It is quite heavy, so even though it's small I'm not likely to chuck it in my handbag. We've only used it in shallow water so far but i reckon it'd sink pretty fast if you dropped it in the deep end of the pool or in the ocean. I guess the heavier weight is the price you pay for the waterproof casing. I'm a bit nervous about the waterproofing due to previous camera failure so I'm probably being more careful than I'd like to be with it & haven't used it in the ocean at all.

Beware - Hopeless Underwater Camera – Panasonic Lumix DMC-FT2 . This camera died after one underwater session that lasted 5 mins in shallow ocean water...I have been using underwater point and shoot cameras for years and spent the extra money on this camera thinking it would be robust and take great shots...I was devastated to only have one session with this camera and then be told by… Read more

Panasonic it was irreparable and

because water was found they would not replace...I followed all instructions before use and have been using underwater cameras for years...this has been a very expensive exercise...my suggestion if you plan to use this camera underwater is DON'T...

Not waterproof....expensive...disappointing.

Dissapointing - taking Panasonic to court – Followed the instructions for preparation and cleaning of seals 100% and noticed water inside the battery terminal after the first use. Reported to Panasonic immediately who repaired 'in good faith' but they denied it was a manufacturing fault. After next use in water, again noticed water in battery terminal - sent back with query (even though… Read more

camera still worked).

Panasonic want $580 to fix despite being under warranty (camera only cost $380). Claim user error. Definitely wasn’t! Now we have no camera as evidence. But we're taking Panasonic to Magistrates Court WA- someone has to stand up to these guys - there clearly was a manufacturing fault. If you have the same experience, please contact me! There more evidence this underwater camera has a fault, the better. Despite leaking the day it came out of its box, it was a good camera Not waterproof even if you follow instructions 100%

Excellent – I give it 9 out of 10 I use to sell cameras for a living for 10 years and found I would stick to the one brand of camera, but now I have found the one that compliments all my photographic needs. Excellent focus tracking system and picture quality is out standing Still worry about the camera under water though also the camera is heavy so it will sink to the bottom.
