Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ2 – Priced as a quality camera. Nice looking, stylish camera. Lightweight and easy to use. Takes great photos. Not quite 5 years old though, and with very little use, the sensor goes on it. I tried it get it repaired in a camera shop but, was advised that I could purchase another cheaper than for the price of the repairs. Very disappointed, would… Read more
have expected better quality from Panasonic! Style & ease of use. Sensor went on it, not worth repairing according to camers shops.
Short life span, otherwise great – This camera has been great, but after about 4 years of light use, and having been well looked after, the image sensor has failed, so it is no longer working and not viable to repair. Camera takes good pictures, and is easy to use with great features, but I would have expected it to last longer, even in these days of high turnover electronic… Read more
goods. Disappointing outcome. Great features, easy to use, good pics. Short life, only lasted 4 years with limited use.
OK – I have loved the camera until now with all its features but would have expected that it would last more than three years given that it has not been over used & has been treated with kid gloves during that period. I Was thinking about buying a new Lumix TS3 when they are released but now I am hesitant & I will look at another brand. Would have… Read more
given 5 stars but not after what now appears to be a pretty common fault. I agree completely with both the previous reviews, having had very satisfied use with the camera over the past 3 years. A very good camera with lots of useful features. Have just attempted to use the camera & now find that on turning on the camera everything appears normal for the first 30 secs then a pink spot appears in the screen spreading out from the centre of the screen till it nearly covers three quarters of the screen then everything appears to melt into unrecognisable mess & the resultant picture is the same as what is on the screen. A friend of ours brought a TZ3 just after we got our TZ2 & the same thing has happened to his TZ3. Have since looked on the net & found numerous other cases of the same problem. Have seen a reply that the "image sensor" is faulty & therefore not viable to repair. Very disappointing, I would have expected at least 10 years+ from this camera like the old Sony & not much younger Canon I still have.
I have had my Panasonic Lumix TZ2 for 5 year & this same problem with the Image Sensor has happened… Read more (+6 replies)
Excellent – Before i bought mine i did a lot of research into all the models available - closest competitor was the sony touch screen models and the olympus waterproof model (One saleswoman advised against the olympus because she had lots of unhappy customers returning them and she said she didnt "want anymore headaches"). I wanted more than a party snap… Read more
camera and after the guys at one store in melb city let me use the panasonic and sony - i chose the panasonic. The colors are fantastic and the macro feature really got me - i highly recommend this camera to anyone looking for a bit more flexibility and features in their camera - i have no second thoughts at all! takes great photos! has many different setting that make it perfect for all photo situations from party snaps to landscapes to macro close up shots. Battery life is good. The build quality of this camera is excellent - it is solid and strong - made from metal, not cheap plastic! Screen size is excellent. Takes great video with god quality sound (make sure u get a large capacity SD card). Zoom is truly fantastic - unbeleievable how much of a difference it makes to ur shot. Also super close up shots are possible with the macro feature - u can focus in on the smallest details without any blur or loss of picture quality. The panasonic software is easy to install on ur computer and a breeze to use. No free carry bag :(
No screen protector (mine has not scratched in over a year of use - but it would be handy)
Not really small enough to put in ur pocket and take to a party - its also a bit heavier than ur average compact plastic camra - but this isnt really a party snaps only kinda camera!
Good – We thought this camera was pretty good value at this price for a 10x zoom camera. Most 10x zooms are quite big and bulky but this camera is nice & compact that I can keep it in my handbag even. The real close up shots we've taken have all been pretty clear considering its 10x zoom. Its small & compact yet has 10x optical zoom. The wide angle lens… Read more
is great, gives you just that little bit extra in the shot. Has a nice large 2.5" screen. The shots can appear to be a little grainy in night shots using the flash.

I have a one with a sensor failure as well. Colour goes purple then image "bleeds" away as the sensor warms up.
