It's Ok – Recently bought this scale and after taking it home, for the price it's only ok. It was great that it came with batteries (though requiring 2 to run it may make it more costly in the long run, a fact that was not advertised on the packaging). The instruction manual doesn't explain everything i.e. it is VERY brief and a search online lead to no… Read more
further explanations but there are some guidelines/parameters in the book which is good, but I'm not entirely sure what a kcal reading is as I've only ever seen this as a display of how many calories are in food. I certainly hope it is not an indication of how many calories a predator would be consuming if it ate me. And what am I supposed to do with that information anyway?
When using the scales sometimes when you tap it to turn it on it doesn't work and you end up standing there doing the hokey pokey for a while till it decides it will wake up. Setting it was easy and as expected though. BUT in the instruction manual it says it will flash through the different weight measurements (weight, body fat %, hydration rate, muscle %, bone weight, BMI and kcal) 3 times and it doesn't, it only flashes through twice and when I say flashes I mean it literally flashes! It's barely long enough to write down the numbers before it disappears altogether, and it doesn't have a 'memory' that stores your results.
Overall it is an ok scale for $30.
Good value for money – After a bad experience with my previous scale (body composition stayed static for 5 years even after loosing 5 kg), when it died I was tempted to go back to a basic scale. But then when I looked at the old fashioned scales they are badly made and repeated test standing on them differed by more than a kg decided to try a digital scale again. I… Read more
chose this one based on price, sturdiness of build and fat composition by impedance measurements.
Feels much more sturdier than similar priced items.
Precision seems to jump around a bit. Fluctuated about 2 kg in a week. Yes this is partially due to different times of the day etc., but seems much higher than previous scale. It seems to remember what it measured previously so one test I tried fully clothed (except for feet) gave an obviously higher reading but the three subsequent measurements, without clothes gave readings higher than the week's average.
Similarly I went for a run, weighed then drank a glass of water (about 300 g) before re-weighing. Weight went up 600 g, fat went up 0.2%, hydration and muscle mass came down 0.1%.
I conclude that the weight is probably accurate to about 0.5 kg, and all percentage readings about 0.2%.
In conclusion, good value for money especially comparing similarly priced items. Cost, lower end of the spectrum ($30). Body fat analysis. Sturdy but thin. Great large readout On button is not described in the manual (it's on the side). Almost took it back for this reason
Good value – Bought this at Big W for $30 after buying a cheaper Propert 3176 for $20 which was laughably inaccurate so I threw that out and bought this. Didn't know there was a power switch on the front of it until I read the other reviews (!). Seems to be fairly accurate and consistent so far and does the body fat/water/muscle measurements quite well. Fairly… Read more
consistent & accurate, cheap, measures body fat % etc, The instructions don't say there is a power button on the front so you can easily miss it as it is white and flush.
Frustrating to use – I purchased my Lifestyle Professional Slimline Body Monitor just a few days ago for $30 from Big W. This product felt like it was made from quality materials and looked far more superior to the other weight scales Big W had to offer. This product has many different functions such as weight, body fat, hydration, bone and muscle monitoring. I am… Read more
only interested in the weight monitoring.
I am unhappy with the with the position of the power on button. It is situated on the front side of the unit and not on the scale top like other scales. You are forced to press the power button horizontally with your big toe. When I stand on these scales my feet overhang and my foot size is only 10 AUS. I also noticed that the packaging is deceiving because the photo of the product on the packaging shows the digital LCD has a blue backlighted screen, this is not the case. My unit does not light up at all. Stylish, inexpensive, large LCD screen Complicated to use, Too small for my feet, terrible power on switch position
