I would suggest avoiding the Philips S9985 or any of their shavers with this head design. Due to the shape of the head and the cutters being located nearly 7mm in from the edge of the head, I can't get the cutters to shave up under my nostrils without turning the shaver sideways or upside down sometimes grazing my lip with one of the cutters in the process. I don't need colourful LED lights on my shaver, I just need an intelligent design that works properly. The traditional Philips head design worked perfectly.

+ Do very soft and smooth shave - only the main part of face - with light control for level of pressure on skin - Has got big head and blades are distanced from edge of head, which doesn't allow blades reach to face's any corners

Philips S9985/50 Shaver Flawed Design – I have always used a Philips shaver for as long as I can remember at least. My last shaver was a 2011 Sensotouch and it was excellent. I purchased a new S9985/50 Philips shaver (2024) and my experience has not been so good. Firstly I have searched the web for a link to lodge customer complaints with Philips Australia however none that I could find. My complaint I feel relates to the design. The cutting blades are set too far in. That is the distance from the outside of the head to the cutting blade is too far. This means above my lip is very hard to shave as my nose gets in the way ha ha. Funny but serious. This morning I cut my lip twice which has never happened before with a Philips shaver. In summary a flawed design in my opinion sorry to say.

Thanks for giving me a response. What would make it right is to provide me with a new shaver head that solves these problems. This shaver model should be subject to a recall and new shaver heads provided to rectify the short comings. I am not sure the product as sold is meeting the stated aims of providing a good shave. Pass that on please.

Easy to shave!! – My husband purchased this in June this year as his old model broke. He decided to upgrade to this one. He has not been disappointed, he has not had any cuts on his face. It charges easily and fast and the battery is good to go for days. He does not complain about it all, which is a change from the last one he had. It does the job, day in, day out and that's it.
