Philips White Vision H7 Halogen Bulbs

Philips White Vision H7 Halogen Bulbs – The claim of White Vision is misleading. These are still yellow with only a slight improvement over OEM. Maybe they should be renamed YellowVision. Very disappointed with this purchase. Show details
It is a great car light. I only wish it would last longer – Light globe only lasted two years. The original Philips light (Made In Germany) installed by the manufacturer lasted almost 10 years. I contacted the Australian distributor of Philips, who assisted me with my issue and pointed out that performance lights have a shorter lifespan. In future, ill stick to the long life bulbs. life span nowhere near what is claimed – This review is for the H4 NOT the H7. I bought a pair of H4s in July 2020. They lasted just under 1 year. I estimate I got 130 hours out of the claimed 500 on the box. I wore disposable gloves when installing them to be certain I didn't touch them with my fingers. Certainly not worth the $80 I paid for them. Show details
Clearly better than standard – These bulbs are quite different to standard globes, seemingly brighter & certainly whiter. Packaged with a pair of blue bulbs for marker/park lights in a fancy plastic jewel case. There not cheap at all & although they seem pretty effective they are, in my opinion over priced for what are essentially just slightly white headlight bulbs. If they last a few years I'll be happy Show reply
Not white enough to be called white vision – Considering the price and brand, this product has reasonable brightness and range. Very outstanding as a halogen light bulb. However the actual color does not appear to be white. Instead, the color is more like 4000K. If you are after a decent look of HID tyoe lights just get a proper HID kit. Halogen bulbs are just not good enough.

Good upgrade of halogen headlight for all cars running H7 12V 55W bulbs. Just don't believe the "xe – I've recently fitted these to a MY 2002 BMW E46 3-series. The car is running halogen headlights for both low and high beam (separate reflectors/bulbs). Philips claims "Maximum whiteness, ultimate brightness" And: "The new Philips WhiteVision halogen headlamp delivers an intense, white light with up to 4100 K color temperature, 20% whiter… Read more

First the good:
I upgraded from a previous generation Philips X-treme Vision +80% bulbs that were about 12 months old.
These White Visions are definitely whiter and brighter (although to be fair I don't know if that's due to the gradual degradation of the existing bulbs).
Beam spread is good, beam cut-off very sharp, seems marginally sharper than previous bulbs.
I also got them online for half the cost your Autobarns and Supercheaps are selling them at.
So if you need to (or are thinking of) replacing your H7 headlights and want better performance, these are definitely a good quality bulb.
They are also ECE-approved, so road legal. And being UV-cut, they will not damage polycarbonate headlight lenses like some cheap bulbs can. Unless the bulb you buy explicitly states "UV Cut", install at own risk.
Now the not-so-good:
Don't believe the "HID xenon look" hype. While they are definitely whiter than a stock-standard halogen, you will not mistake them for a genuine xenon HID. This in no way detracts from their performance, but if you want your car to look like it's running HID xenons, then you need to look elsewhere.
Also - the normal prices charged for these by Autobarn, Supercheap Auto, Repco et al are "optimistic" at best, being around the $80 mark for a pair. If they have them on special, go for it. Otherwise eBay is your friend.
I purchased through autolightingaustralia and paid around $45 including postage.
Conclusion:
Good quality bulbs, much better option than the "no name" blue bulbs originating out of SE Asia (or who knows where). Nice, crisp white beam, noticeably better than "stock" H7 bulbs. But won't be mistaken for genuine HID xenons. But if your car is running halogen bulbs, probably the best option on the market today.
And if you can get them at a good price, highly recommended. Just don't pay full retail.
