PolyCool PY-EC7 Evaporative Cooler
VerifiedMPN: PY-EC71 review
Useless if used within an enclosed space due to humidity build up. Almost as good as a fan in the open air. A large industrial fan provides better cooling and would be a touch cheaper. Feels quite cheap and airflow is OK, but you wont feel it more than about 2-3m away. I would not recommend it.
Follow-up · The climate on first use was 38C approx and 14% humidity, so really low humidity and the room was a 6x6 garage with 2.5m ceiling. I expected a slight rise in humidity and some cooling. I got ~1C drop in temp based on the coolers own temp gauge and I have no idea how much humidity gain, but it felt like Cairns in summer! Unbearable. I have since moved it into a factory sized shed (4m ceiling and over 200m2) and I use it like a fan. It’s a “bit” cooler than the industrial ~75cm fan we also use, but has way less air flow. I think the industrial fan is better overall. That said, the unit does provide a bit of cooling provided you are with 2m or 3m max. I would never recommend this for anything. Edison’s did contact me to see what they could do to help, but I said it was my fault for buying it but they should change the description blurb as it was totally inaccurate. I suspected it might not work, hence I was prepared to wear the cost and just use it as a fan, although I use the cooler feature as it does have some effect, just not huge. I should also say that I visit some facilities that use the huge 1.5m2 type cooling evaporator units and they pump out cool air and high air volume, but you pay thousands for those and they take up a lot of space.

Hi Paul, Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback.
We’ve carefully reviewed your review, your order details, and your communication with our Customer Support team.
As you’ve noted, evaporative coolers operate differently from air conditioners and rely on continuous airflow and ventilation to perform effectively.
In enclosed spaces, humidity can possibly build up quickly, which can significantly reduce cooling performance — something your experience highlights.
Based on our assessment, the unit appears to be operating as designed.
That said, we acknowledge that our product listing could better set expectations around suitable environments and ventilation requirements.
Your feedback has already been escalated to our product and content teams to review and improve how this information is presented for future customers.
We want to be transparent that this is not a product fault but reflects the intended operation of evaporative coolers.
Your feedback has been reviewed and will help us refine how we communicate product suitability, operating requirements, and realistic performance expectations going forward.
Thank you again for sharing your experience.
